Chapter 1 - The Man in the Mirror
“Good morning, your highness”
A beautiful girl in a maid outfit was in my room, bowing her head towards me.
“Good morning Mari”
I respond instinctually.
I sit up.
This definitely isn’t my room… It’s gigantic.
What’s with this bed? Is this a new type? Triple King Size perhaps?
And it’s not just the size of everything, it’s the lavish decorations. The incredibly carved furniture, the soft looking, rich purple curtains, the golden chest sitting in the corner, the marble statue in the other corner. Then there’s also this supermodel looking girl, bowing politely.
But although my heart is in disarray, my body seems to know what it’s doing.
It gets up and begins to strip.
EHH?!
Ah, thank god, I stopped. Let’s put those back on.
“Your highness? If you do not strip, I cannot begin to dress you?”
Mari appears confused.
“I’ll do it by myself from now on”
I surprise myself with my tone of voice, my heart is in turmoil, but my actions are resolute and refined.
“……..I see, your highness doesn’t have any use for me anymore…….”
Mari was becoming depressed. There’s no need to go that far! You’re not fired or anything!
No, no, no, hold on, I feel like I’ve been distracted by something.
Oh yea, that’s right!
Where the hell am I!? Who the hell is Mari?!
“Mari, calm yourself, I’m feeling unwell this morning”
“Oh! I see and your highness doesn’t wish for me to catch his bug. Very kind of you master, but it is my job you see! I can bear the risk”
No, wait. My words had the opposite intended affect and seemed to fire her up more…
Contrary to her refined looking appearance, much like a Miko. She appears rather airheaded…

“That isn’t what I mean Mari….what I mean is….I am struggling to remember who you are?”
My voice hesitates for the first time.
Mari looks like she’s about to cry.
“…That’s rather cruel master, I’ve been attending to you since we were both 6 years old you know?”
Oh yea, that’s right. Mari’s practically a sister to me. How did I forget about Mari?
…
No, wait. I don’t have any maids? Right?
“Of course, it was merely a bit of a joke in poor taste. Mari’s practically a sister to me”
Mari now turns a shade of crimson.
“I’m unfit for your praise master, I’m merely your maid, however I will serve you to the best of my abilities until the day I die”
“Nonsense, Mari is the only person I consider a friend, it would make me feel rather sad if Mari didn’t also think of me as such”
Mari looked up at me with tears in her eyes again.
“Uuuuu, Jin-Sama”
She actually runs into me and embraces me tightly.
Oh! This feels rather nice! She smells good too… I hug her back.
Oi! Wait! I’m still barely dressed you know!
“Um, Mari, I need to get dressed”
She turns another shade of crimson and backs up while muttering to herself embarrassedly.
She grabs, what appears to be a familiar uniform and begins to dress me.
I do the underpants myself of course.
“How is it, your highness?”
Mari asks while holding up a mirror.
“Mari, when we’re by ourselves, you can just call me Jin”
“I…I couldn’t possibly, I respect you far too much!”
“Ah, Jin-Sama is fine too then”
“But…”
“Do I have to make it an order, Mari?”
“N..No”
I look in the mirror that Mari is holding up and my heart stops.
Now I get it.
The man in the mirror looking back at me was the Prince from ‘Love love medieval magic school fantasy’, Jin Wolfgang Staeles.
