《The Tragic Tale of a Zombie Survivalist》Road Trip

John Smith was very upset. He had managed to survive long enough to be invited into the world’s strongest Clan but he wasn’t a very important character! This was the chance in a lifetime! Everyone wanted to be the main character of their own story, right?
But when he finally arrived, he was surprised at how unambitious the other people were being. They stayed at home, surviving to their most basic needs. There were others who wanted to get higher, but realized that those positions were already taken by all the Undead and non-Humans. Most of these people stayed low and completed Quests to receive GP and get items. However, there were others that were walking around all frustrated and such.
One such occasion, John had a run in with a big dude who wanted a bottle of beer that was his. When he didn’t hand it over, the guy was about to just hit John! Luckily, a man snuck in out of nowhere and grabbed the offender’s arm before throwing him to the floor and handcuffing him.
This was during the Sweep, as it was later known as. When the Lich Lord set in place a sort of peace keeper, the locals were all happy to an extent. He also set up a prison with harsh punishment. Repeat offenders would be exiled or worse if their actions deemed it necessary. But the man who had saved John at this moment was Chance, the leader of the Scouts!
Seeing a powerful Hero in front of his very eyes, John wanted nothing more than to follow him around and hopefully get into the inner group. However, he soon saw the Lord himself! There he stood, torn clothes and all, yet still standing with an aura that claimed dominance over others. John didn’t know it himself, but this was a turning point in his life. Every time something would get dangerous, he would look back on this man and be filled with courage.
But…why were there so many Elite Skeletons? These were the strange red Skeletons that people began to see after the fight against the Living Saints. The people knew that these Skeletons were vastly superior to the previous white Skeletons.
Before, even if they were Level 2, a well-timed grenade would take it out in one hit. Now, however, even a bazooka might have a difficult time destroying this Skeleton! And there were thirty of them!

“Oh? You got a buddy? Whatever, it shouldn’t be too hard. You are just going to Louisiana and picking up a Clan mate, after all.”
Eh? What? He was going along just like that? Chance, say something! Why are you shrugging?!
And with that, John Smith, a nobody that just recently joined, was sent on a trip in a wagon pulled by Undead Beasts and guarded by Elite Skeletons to another State. Looking at the map, John could tell that they would have to cross several, maybe even six or seven Regions just to get to the same Region as their Clan mate.
However, John had no idea who this person was or if they were even strong. Why go through all the trouble? Why send out such strong Units for something like this?
Since Chance wasn’t one to talk, John was left to think by himself for the several weeks of travel.
Of course, this was the time of the Monthly broadcast! But it turned out to be a Global broadcast! And the Lich Lord won!
Hehe, John had made a good choice to join when he did, because now more people would want to join!
When he had joined, he was given 100 GP to use towards whatever he wanted. He thought about using a weapon, but noticed some people had gotten swords or other melee weapons. He didn’t want armor because it might be too heavy and hinder his movement.
He wanted his first item to be a good one that he wouldn’t want to switch out, thanks to what Laura, his Fairy, told him. He ended up choosing a Companion! But…he couldn’t find it. He checked his map and everything, but it told him that his Pet was right in front of him!
It wasn’t until several days later, during his trip to Louisiana, that he realized that his Pet was invisible! It was a Chamosaur, a strange knee high reptilian quadruped that was a Level 2. It had a good invisibility power and could even grant the power to his owner! So John had an invisibility option, making his presence even smaller.
He had even gotten used to the ability by the time the Global broadcast appeared. Afterwards, John was filled with the desire to Level Up his Cammie. He would need to defeat 10 level 2 Beasts, either alive or Undead, and gather special food to feed to it.

He could easily buy the food from the Shop, so he did. They had defeated many Beasts already, so John only needed a couple more. However, he still needed the GP to purchase the final food item. He thought after killing the other Beasts he would have enough GP to get it so he wasn’t worried.
The wagon had been attacked by several groups of people trying to get stronger, but they were either repelled or killed. The dead bodies were wrapped up and placed in the back of the wagon. So were the bodies of Beasts. But so far, there were no Ability Users. They were either hesitant to approach or weren’t even there.
But, a massive group of Undead deer appeared out of the trees and eyeballed the wagon. Both John and Cammie took their places after hiding, while Chance went back to sleep. He had taken a lax approach ever since John had made an initiative to participate. By now, John was actually very skilled in his attacks.
Chance could tell ever since he saw him, that John was a person who could do things if he tried. John even reminded him of a friend he once had during his training.
However, a huge stag appeared, separating the crowd of deer. It kept looking around, sensing John and Cammie but couldn’t find them, no matter how hard it looked. It turned back to the wagon filled with smelly corpses and the thirty calmly waiting Skeletons.
But it was at the moment it dropped its guard that the lizard attacked. Unfortunately, the stag had a tougher body since it had become a BOSS. The antlers on its head began to crystalize, turning into what looked like diamonds. It merely swung its head and a sharp wind left scratches on the lizard.
Thankfully, the lizard had its powerful scales and was being raised by the magical food of the Shop. It was just scratched, so it took up a defensive posture to make a gap for its owner to make use of.
Earlier, John had tried his hand at the Summon Machine, but he only got an Uncommon Knife, with a sharp edge and good durability. Still, it was enough. John took the chance and pierced the dagger into the unsuspecting stag and was awarded a lot of GP as well as a choice between two Skills.
Sharpen or Leader’s Aura.
He wanted the Aura, but he back tracked in his thought process. He only won here because the stag hadn’t sensed him. If he had the Aura, what if he couldn’t easily hide anymore? No, he needed an attack ability and Sharpen would hopefully increase his damage.
If he had selected Leader’s Aura, he would have eventually learned how to seal it, but yes, he would have been easy to sense at first. However, the wind was actually generated by the Aura, not the Sharpen. The antlers turning to crystals was the Sharpen Skill activating. The sharpness of the antlers cut the air and the Aura infused the strike so as to send out a powerful flurry of wind blades.
But, since he did this, Cammie had actually received the Leader’s Aura! As an animal, the lizard was easily able to adapt and learn how to use its ability as if it was always born with it. The deer began to flee, but the Leader’s Aura caused them all to cower in fear, giving the lizard the time to hunt them all down with ease.
Using the GP, John managed to purchase the necessary food, and gave it to Cammie.
Then, the evolution happened!
Cammie was covered in a flash of light as its silhouette was growing larger and larger. Soon, it was about the size of a small horse! When the light faded, John saw what looked like a small wingless dragon!
“Congratulations! Your Chamosaur evolved into a Shimmer Drake! With the ability to dazzle its enemies and change its color, this dangerous Dragon Subspecies is a powerful hunter!”
“Laura, how did this happen?!”
“It must have been the Leader’s Aura!”
“Wow…”
John heard the sound of movement and turned around to see Chance slightly nod in his direction before starting to set out again. They were nearly there.
