《Grand Magus》Chapter 2 Wildlands

Tiredly Fraser opened his eyes as a voice shouted: “One meal per day, if it’s not enough for you then feed yourself.”
*Dong* *Dong* *Dong* the sound of a bell rang through the carriages as the children slowly opened their wooden doors to eat breakfast.
“One piece of bread and a bowl of stew. Next one.” shouted the caretaker as he gave Fraser one small piece of bread and a bowl of stew.
“Fraser, I can’t believe they even serve this peasant food to the nobles.” a young boy walked over to Fraser while whispering to him.
“Why do you whisper.” asked Fraser a he looked at the boy.
“Did you forgot how they beat the crap out of Williams? Better not to anger the Caretakers. Besides even though we are not knights like they are, why don’t they treat us better? I mean we have the talent to use magic. And I heard that even the lowest Magus is able to kill multiple knights.” blabbered the boy named Williams.
Fraser thought for a while, he seemed to be different from yesterday, yet he wasn’t able to discern what was wrong with him.
‘AI use the memory which I watched yesterday to configurate the optimate Basic Knight Breathing Technique. And simulate what would happen if I use the Basic Knight Breathing Technique.’
[Do you wish to see the Basic Knight Breathing Technique? Simulation failed as there is not enough data]
Taking a bite from the stew and the piece of Bread, Fraser turned towards William and replied: “Do you know where our destination lies? Since your Fathers Dukedom is located nearer than mine is.”
“Hm… , we will probably have to cross the Wildlands where Knight level Creatures are common and even stronger beings are not rare.” Said William with a visible pale face.
‘If the knights do not respect us then we are probably dead meat. I mean how much “apprentices” are in this train? Each Carriage has place for more than 20 children, Considering the fact that some high nobles like me and William reserve one carriage each then we are probably almost reaching our desired number.’
Fraser calculated the amount of children in this wooden carriage train and it reached an astonishing number of about 1500 to 2000 children.

Fraser asked William a few more questions while eating his only meal. He forgot a few details since yesterday, yet a few more details appeared in his memory. Like how his family abandoned him for his big brother who got everything shoved into his as*.
Appearently the wooden carriage train is lead by a group of knights and two mysterious beings who are probably Magus.
Or at least beings who are able to use magic.
In the entire journey the nobles along the way tried to flatter the two mysterious beings in every way possible, thus they didn’t needed to pay for food and the selection of potential magic users were fluently and without any problems. The nobles even pushed their children in hope of one having the potential.
Fraser continued to talk with William to remember the small details. Yet there was one information which made Fraser uneasy.
The fact that the group will soon near the border to the Wildlands, a plain filled with creatures of the knight level and stronger.
Ditching William with a little bit of noble talking, like how the peasant food appeared too greasy for his stomach and now he needs rest, Fraser stepped into his wooden carriage.
‘If this goes on then the “peasants” with magic potential will kick me out of my solo carriage. We will soon go into Wildland border city, the last big city before we enter the Wildlands. I need to arm myself before I enter the Wildlands, or else I will not be able to protect myself.’
Fraser closed the wooden carriage door and sat down on the only bench available.
‘AI, show me the Basic Knight Breathing Technique and their positions.’
A tiny Hologram Fraser appeared in Frasers mind with it doing a position.
[Follow the Breathing Rhythm which I will show you right now and change your Position into the next one]
A rhythm appeared under the hologram while the hologram Fraser changed into a different position.
Since the Train stopped for Breakfast Fraser had no problem doing the Basic Knight Technique Position without losing balance.
[Change in the Body detected, Store the Data?]
‘Yes, create a file named Basic Knight Breathing Technique and save my body data with the number 1.00 in every single category and show me my body data after one training session.’

Somehow Fraser felt dumb doing the Basic Knight Breathing Technique, as it somehow felt surreal to him doing positions and breathing could improve his body. Even if he saw people improving in his family, it still was something that stuck in the corner of his brain.
Fraser breathed in and out, each gap between breathing in and out varied in the rhythm, sometimes he needed to hold his breath for 1 minute or even longer and sometimes he needed to breath within half a second.
While doing that he changed his positions according to the mini Fraser hologram in his mind.
Sweat poured out of his body as a thin greasy layer of black ooze appeared on Frasers skin.
[One session of Basic Knight Breathing Technique completed, Former Body numbers of 1.00 strength, 1.00 agility and 1.00 vitality improved to 1.09 strength, 1.13 agility and 1.17 vitality. Detected a minor injury in the muscle tissue, bone marrow and every organ. A rest time of 32 hours is needed for complete recovery. To speed up this process use medicine or tonic for the body. If not heeding this warning long term injuries may appear.]
Panting Fraser glanced at his Body stats, he was astonished. An almost 17% improvement of vitality, 9% in strength and 17% in agility? That is ridiculous.
Fraser knew that for a 12 year old little boy he could be considered the epitome of weak and annoying. No muscles, a small built and a highly annoying kids voice.
‘AI is it possible to reduce the minor injuries in order to do more Basic Knight Breathing Techniques session within 32 hours?’
[Not enough Data, if we have more Data I may be able to analyze the issue and correct it]
‘Set a timer for 32 Hours and signal me when I can train the Basic Breathing Knight Technique without any long lasting bad repercussion.’
[31:59:59]
Using the Water barrel in the carriage and a rag Fraser removed the greasy layer of dirt on his skin.
Since Fraser is one of the few “high-noble” descendants, the peasants or lower ranked noble sons/daughters left him a solo carriage. Also the nobles on the way gave him a lot of small presents like food or money. So it was no wonder that the carriage of Fraser hat a lot of stuff in it. Though nobody gifted him furniture and thus he only had the single bench which was included in every single carriage.
A little bit of money, a box full of fruits, dried meat and clothes. The highlight would be considered a small hunting knife.
Fraser put the hunting knife on his waist and started to devour the food. One session of the Basic Knight Breathing Technique could be considered intense training. His entire body grew stronger and thus the methabolism increased as well.
“Breakfast is over, we will move again. We will reach the Border City of the Wildlands in a few days. Then we will cross the Wildlands and reach our destination.” shouted one of the Caretakers or one of knights and continued to hit the bell to gather the chatting and playing children.
*Dong* Dong* *Dong*
Lying on the bench Fraser closed his eyes, the wooden carriage train started to move again and questions appeared on Frasers mind.
‘Why am I doing this? My family gave me the duty to make connections in another Magus organization. Yet my brother joined of the Magus organizations where one of my ancestors live in. As I can remember of the testing I wasn’t as talented as my big brother. Probably only second rated. Also there is no prince of any kingdom or empire in my wooden carriage train. Even William, the second highest noble descendant is only a duke in a kingdom. Not only that, Williams family is declining. So I can assume that my family wants to take a risky investment while having a save investment. In other words I am the risky investment as if I die then there is still my big brother, the save investment. Yet if I live and join another Magus organization then my family is profiting twice as much.’
Anger appeared in Frasers mind.
‘The only price for a failed risky investment on my family side is my life, and that is considered to be “losing worthy” if I fail.’

I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room
The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it."Absurd. Existential. Ridiculous. Tragic. Comic. The antiheroes of "I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room" are a kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with space packs, inadvertently colliding with their destinies against a starry background of witty wordplay. With a vision as sprawling and limitless as the loveably goofy universe in which it's set, Browning's wit, wisdom and heart are always at play, combining to form a wonderfully panoramic and very silly heroes' journey that visits every trope of its overlapping genres and draws moustaches on all of them."- Marcel St. Pierre, author of "Vengeful Hank" and "Cliché and Wind Go Hitchhiking".(Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed!
