《Grand Magus》Chapter 67 A new Place (1)

The first thing that Fraser noticed when he woke up was the smell of wood and books.
The warm and pleasant touch of sunlight caused him to open his eyes.
What greeted him was a small room filled with books.
The sunlight came from a glass wall.
Turning his head around to look at the small room, Fraser groggily began to stretch his body.
'So I transmigrated once more? In my understanding, this is some kind of enlightenment process where I will receive a spirit attribute. Can you detect something different in my spirit, AI?'
[Data reveals a change in spirit, change is unknown, more Data required to compare former spirit and spirit of the present]
'Mhm... so, where am I? A small room filled with books. Is this a study room or…?'
Before Fraser could stand up and move around, the AI-Chip asked for permission.
[Memory detected, absorb memory? Memory is fading.]
'Permission for absorption granted. I guess this is the remaining memory of the body that I am possessing.'
The assumption of Fraser turned out to be true.
A short, yet happy, lifetime of memories passed through Fraser's brain.
Fraser saw how Tom grew up in the orphanage but shortly after got adopted by a family with the Smith surname. They were a couple that had a daughter the same age as Tom and as they apparently knew, they wouldn't be home that often and sought a companion for their daughter.
As Tom was a rather old baby, barely the age of 3, the couple had no worries of abuse or any kind of conflict that might happen between those two kids.
The dynamic of step-siblings turned out to be a good one, as the former Tom regarded his stepfamily as his real family.
So it was a happy life for Tom, naturally filled with worries about schools and the usual puberty problems, but nevertheless a happy one.
'So, I am around 16 years old? A little bit older than my body back at the ruin, but not older than my previous life. I guess it is time to see whether or not I can use some of the knight training to train my body. AI-Chip, display the current stats under the category of Tom Smith.'

[Tom Smith]
[0.37 strength, 0.41 agility, 0.29 vitality, 8.52 spirit]
'So I possessed Tom and right now the spirit of him is equal to mine? Or, am I Tom and the spirit of Tom fused with mine?'
Thinking about the question for a while, but threw the question into the back of his mind when he started to experiment with his new body.
First, he tried to train with his knight technique and it worked. But when Fraser moved to the meditation technique, a pleasant surprise happened.
The increase of spirit was the same when he started to meditate.
'So, the spirit is not bound by the amount but by the body? It is a theory that needs to be tested, but let me see whether or not the insect servant spell model works.'
Just as Fraser wanted to operate his spell model, he could feel through his spirit that someone entered the small room and stopped his actions.
"Tommy, Mom, and Dad aren't coming home for at least two weeks. Are you planning to drown yourself with those books of yours? Go out and enjoy life. Should I bring you along with me? The group is going to grill at the lake, one of the guys bought a fishing road and they want to test it."
A youthful-looking girl stepped into the small room, blond hair, blue eyes and a body that hadn't matured, yet. It was Penelope, the stepsister of Tom.
"No, I don't want to go. Besides, the summer vacation is starting so I have plenty of time to join you and your group at your activities."
Fraser tried to replicate the excuse of the former Tom via his characterization of the memories.
It was good enough to fool Penelope as she replied:
"Come one, we even bought Chicken Wings and some of the guys are making BBQ. You love that, right? Besides, Anna is also coming. Your crush?"
As if feeling that something went wrong with the last sentence, Penelope immediately continued to talk but realized her mistake:

"Ehm, yeah. So actually some new people are coming and they are great. I heard that they are a group that will join the school next year. So you might actually meet someone new. I heard that they are great, especially from…"
Fraser cheered inwardly, he didn't need to continue this excuse seeking as Penelope began to dig a grave for herself. So as to seal the matter of coming with her, Fraser began to seal the deal for Tom:
"Pen, I actually don't have the motivation to come with you. At least for now. Perhaps in the future, but it also looks grim. Go and enjoy your time with the group. You know that none of them are my friends."
Adding a seemingly forced smile, Tom began to wave his sister away and continued his reading on a book.
"Okay, don't forget to make yourself dinner. There are chicken wings in the freezer, make yourself some oven potatoes as a side dish."
Penelope could only say that before walking out of the study room.
(AN: I am actually making chicken wings with oven potatoes today. Need nutrients for my cold that appeared today.)
With the disturbance gone, Fraser thanked the drama of puberty as the change of his personality could simply be attributed to that.
'Now, back to the spell model.'
With a small use of spirit force, Fraser could feel the usual separation of spirit and the creation of a small larva.
Though something was different compared to the usual function. He could feel the larva.
Not like the usual feeling, of companionship and absolute loyalty but the feeling of being part of the larva.
He could even feel the heat of his palm as he carried the larva with his hands.
'Is this the spirit attribute? Well, now that I have tested the spell model, it is time to seek more information on this world.'
With a simple command, the larva buried itself into Fraser and turned into his body tissues.
It felt weird to Fraser, unusual to the normal returning, but he attributed it to the change of his spirit.
'Interesting…'
Standing up, Tom made the decision to walk back to his room and use the com-link, a smaller computer, to access the internet.
Like the internet in his first life, it offered a large amount of information. Some bad, others useful.
Tom also accessed the social platform he used and saw his sister, his parents and a couple of classmates under his contacts.
He ignored the usual activities of the internet and searched for general information.
Apparently this planet he was on is a part of the Federation of Galaxy GA8B90, the Union of all planets of the Galaxy GA8B90.
Space travel and colonization were normal and apparently humans already advanced to multiple Galaxies.
The planet he lived on couldn't be considered an important one as it wasn't a scientifically advanced planet, neither a strategic defending position or trading hub.
Nevertheless, it wasn't a bad planet to live on as the environment had plenty of forests and beautiful landscapes.
The atmosphere allowed humans to live in the open and didn't require protected cities made out of metal and glass.
In layman terms, it was a rural planet that was suited for peaceful livings.
There were no wars on this planet as there was no resource shortage.
'Perfect for my development. Let me see how much money I have. I need to buy meat. As well as see the strength of the military. Perhaps some sort of historic events of the colonization?'
