《Dark historian》Chapter 27: Ancient city

George woke up and the first thing he noticed was the pain he felt all over his body. He stood up and walked toward the wall in front of him, he didn’t know why but he could always remember every detail of the memory like it was stored in his brain and the only thing he needed to do was to close his eyes and think about it to see it back.
George started to practice but it was harder than he expected, he didn’t know what would happen if he made a mistake so he wanted to make sure he could do it in one try. The thing he had to be careful of the most was that the movement, it needed to be smooth like someone writing down their autograph, you can't stop in between or make any unnecessary movement.
It took George a couple of hours to master the movements and he was ready to open the formation, he wanted to do this before the session day ended and he didn’t know what time it was and how long he had before he kicked out of the capsule. George walked toward the formation and was nervous, what if he failed to do it correctly and would be killed or worse, stuck in this place for the rest of his life. But he decided to be brave, he couldn’t run away anymore, the world didn’t give him the luxury of living an easy life and it was time for him to step up and show himself that he was worth more than everyone thought he was.
George walked toward the formation and his hands were shaking, he knew that he could do it without fault but the problem was the pressure he felt, George knew that the more he thought about it the worse it would be so he did the same thing he did while making wine, he followed the exact same steps and made the movements without fault. George was standing there looking at the formation with suspense. He didn’t know if there were other requirements for the formation to open and it would mean that he would be stuck here for the rest of his life.
Just like in the memory a door appeared and George felt happy for the first time today, at least now he had a chance to survive. George took a deep breath and entered the door, he didn’t know what to expect on the other side but it would at least be better than this.
George entered the door and was amazed by what he found, it was an underground city that was bigger than anything he had ever seen, he was standing on a big path which leads to the entrance of a castle that looked like it was made of pure gold. Behind the Castle were hundreds of big white buildings that were not as tall as the castle but still bigger than anything George had ever seen.
George didn’t know when he had passed the third and fourth level but it must have happened when he was passed out. But it wasn’t the time to think about that and he was looking at the amazing city in front of him. It gave him the feeling of grandeur and for the first time in his life, he felt the curiosity of exploring something. Who were this person that they could make something so big and majestic beneath the starters village?

George didn’t need to think long about what to do and decided to follow the path to the entrance of the castle. The castle was the most beautiful thing George had ever seen in his life, the top of the building was shining like It was made of the light element, in a matter of fact it was the light source for the whole city. The lower parts of the castle were made of what looked like pure gold and even though it didn’t shine it still had a bright glow around it.
George still had the injuries from before and it took him almost an hour to reach the castle entrance, it would have taken him a lot longer but he pushed through the pain wanting to reach the entrance because he wanted to know what was inside the castle, he couldn’t imagine the suspense if he had to wait for the next session day to explore the city.
When George reached the gate, he found a corpse next to the gate of the castle that looked like it was made completely out of black stone and was at least three meters long. Even though the city looked like a city of light the drawings on the door had a dark feeling to them, but what surprised him the most was that the drawings kept changing like it was telling a story. George could see a man sitting on a throne with seven people behind him and thousands of people kneeling in front of him, but in the next picture the man was standing with his hand stretched out and some of the people who were kneeling looked happy and were celebrating while some of them looked like they were in agony.
George was so impressed with wat he was seeing that he forgot about the corpse for a second, but when he looked at the corpse again he understood that the formation was still active and that he was still inside of it.
George tried to push the door open but he didn’t have the strength to open it or even move it. Touching the door also didn’t active a memory and he didn’t know what to do next. George started to look around and tried to touch different parts of the castle to activate a memory without success. Just as he was about to give up he remembered the body and looked if he could find anything on it. The body was only a skeleton with a ring on his finger. George first tried to touch the skeleton to activate a memory with no success so his only chance was to find something inside the ring. But to his surprised the moment he touched the ring he got a massage.
This ring was given to Winston Linwood by the court as proof and reward of becoming one of the king’s personal guards. Extra experience points gained for finding the third memory file from the life of Thaddeus Packard.
Do you want to activate the memory?>
A part of George told him not to active the memory in fear of the pain that was coming afterward but his curiosity and the will to survive were stronger and George activated the memory without much hesitation. He saw the same three people walking toward the gate and Winston was leading the way.
When they reached the gate, Wilton stopped and turned around, George didn’t know what he was doing but he hoped that he was looking for a way to open the gate and show him how to enter the castle. But something unexpected happened next.

“The king had agreed to let your legacy be handed down to your son and let him join the court. You should be happy, old man, it’s a chance for your son to become your successor and for your legacy to survive.”
Thaddeus started to shake his head in disapproval and didn’t react for a long time. He turned around and looked at his son with a look of pity.
“I’m sorry my son but I have to follow the wishes of my prince and my brothers and sisters so I can’t give you my legacy. I know that I have not been a good father but I still wish for you to find John and see if he is doing alright. Help him grow and I will promise you that the day will come that he will shake the world with his skills as a winemaker. I have had a lot of achievements in my life but giving life to you and accepting that boy as my student are the best decisions I have ever made.”
Thaddeus had a bright smile on his face and was looking at his son with great love, seeing Thaddeus look at his son like that made George think about his own family and imagine how it would have been if they loved him as Thaddeus loved his son.
Thaddeus getting ready to enter the castle turned around only to find Wilton blocking his path with a big smirk on his face, Thaddeus’s son had a sad look on his face and without Thaddeus seeing took a dagger from his ring and shoved it in his father’s back.
Thaddeus had a look of complete surprise and was looking at his son with a look of horror, the pain he felt from his son betraying him was worse than the pain he felt from the dagger.
“Why…”
Thaddeus’s son had a sad look on his face and couldn’t look his father in the face, George could even see tears coming down his face. Wilton at the same time was laughing out loud and had a big smile on his face. He took a blue scroll from his ring and towards it towards the boy.
“Use this to forcefully take the legacy from him, I don’t expect a lot of resistance. It’s true that his legacy of one of the rarest and the strongest but when it comes to fighting he is just a healer.”
The boy knowing that there was no turning back took the scroll and activated the scroll, Thaddeus at the same time was still looking at his son with despair in his eyes. It was the only boy he had with the woman he loved and now the same boy he had cared for every night was standing here trying to steal his legacy forcefully. But he also couldn’t let go of the love he felt for his son and couldn’t stand him crying in front of him.
“If taking my legacy is so important to you that you are willing you kill your own father then take it, just promise me you will take good care of your mother and John.”
Wilton’s smile turned into a cold smirk and a yellow stone appeared in his hands.
“Do you mean the boy who you passed on your hopes and dreams? I already took care of him, although I couldn’t have done it without your son's help.”
Thaddeus seeing the memory stone in Wilton’s hands was looking at Wilton with killing intent in his eyes. George had always admired Thaddeus for his loving character but this was completely the opposite from before, it was like the old man had turned into a demon who was looking at his next pray.
The air around them got heavy and the ground around him started to burn, Thaddeus moved his hand and a staff appeared in it, the air itself started to burn and in just a second Thaddeus’s son had burned to ashes. He had a horrified look on his face and Thaddeus was looking at him with an ice cold look on his face, it was almost the same exact look the principal had on his face when he pushed George into the formation, and if George didn’t know better it looked like Thaddeus was killing someone he didn’t care about.
Wilton moved away from the flames that were surrounding him at what felt like light speed, at least that’s what it looked like to George, he was just a normal human and couldn’t follow Wilton’s movements.
Wilton waved his hand and a golden bow appeared, he drew the bow and two arrows penetrated Thaddeus body, Thaddeus already week couldn't keep standing and fell on his knees. it was like nothing George had ever seen before, it looked like the exact same moment Wilton let go of the arrows they had appeared in Thaddeus's body like teleportation.
“I didn’t expect you to kill your son, it seems the stories about you being too kind and weak were not completely true. But you need to know your place, maybe if the dual wielder was here you had a chance of surviving but you are just a healer.”
Thaddeus had a bloodshot look in his eyes and started to laugh like a madman. George didn’t know why but he felt his whole body shiver and every hair on his body stand up. Big flames were surrounding Thaddeus and even his own clothes and body was starting to burn, George could feel the power coming from both of them and was looking at the scene in front of him with surprise but also excitement in his eyes. Were these humans?
“It’s true that I am the weakest when It comes to combat compared to my brothers and sisters, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have offensive abilities. Young ones are always arrogant and underestimate the old, I will make sure this is the last mistakes you ever make.”
Thaddeus got back to his feet and held his staff in both hands, the staff started to glow red and the flames around him started to increase. George didn’t know what Thaddeus was doing but it looked like he was going to die inside his own flames, but just before Thaddeus was completely burned alive he carried his staff in the air and a strange fiery light covered his whole body.
“Absolute heal!”

Updates Once a Week next update 10/5 Wracked with misfortune, a nameless village along the edge of the Gray Spine rejoiced at the arrival of a paladin.
