《Bathilda the Bat》Back to the Beginning

Wide, spacious, and ready for evolution, Bathilda's base is now a large cave rather than the small crevice it once started out as.
Bathilda and Hiro ended up putting in more work than she expected them to but she isn't complaining. Instead, she's admiring the finished product and congratulating herself on a job well done.
"Good job, Hiro. Now we can move on to the next step. Maxing my level." Stretching her wings and cracking her neck, Bathilda limbers up before moving to the entrance.
"It's amazing how hard someone can work when threatened by a confident Bat-woman," Hiro jokes, hoping Bathilda's mood has lightened up since earlier.
"Don't call me that, please. Not only does it remind me of some scary films I watched in my grad days, but I'm sure there's a copyright infringement somewhere laden in there. Either way, I'm pretty sure that lady-bat rolls off the tongue better," Bathilda raises one of her many eyebrows at the confused jokester.
"What are grad days?" After a moment of confused stupor, Hiro follows Bathilda out of the entrance.
"Better left in the past. This a new world where tearing things a new one is apparently the norm. This couldn't be any further from my days of studying, drinking and one-night stands. On that note, let's get to it," without waiting for a response, Bathilda takes off and flys up the tunnel.
She heads towards the split path that she has seen time and time again. This time however, Bathilda is returning to the place where she first came to life on this planet. The place where she once felt as though her tiny heart would jump out of her tiny chest.
Now that she's bigger, Bathilda has returned here to put an end to her fear once and for all.

As she nears the overwhelming-large-but-still-unidentified creature, Bathilda rounds the last corner before coming face to face with what she can only describe as jelly.
"What the hell is this thing? Identify," almost forgetting about her skills due to the unmoving monster, Bathilda acquires insight into the strange-green slime before her.
Name: None
Race: King Slime
Level: 24
Confused at what she's looking at, Bathilda's mind is still set in one direction and she launches Wing Slash after Wing Slash at the large-gelatinous monster.
Unfortunately for Bathilda, not a lot of anything happens as the blades of air slice through the Slime's large body and exit the opposite end. The areas that they cut seal back together as though they were never there at all.
"Well that's not fair." She complains as the slime makes no attempt to attack her or even move for that matter
With her limited options of attack, Bathilda is worried about using poison fang as it means she will have to move in close. Cursing her idea to save up her skill points for when she's free, her large teeth, combined with her poison, is the only other offensive move she has even after her upgrade.
With no plan to spend her skill points, even against such a large opponent, Bathilda flys around the overly-large boby looking for somewhere to attack. With every inch of it looking exactly the same though, it's hard to tell where the best location to launch said attack is. Eventually, Bathilda gives in searching and just sinks her teeth into the closest spot before pumping the Slime full of her poison.
A purple ooze enters the its large-translucent body from the already healing wound as Bathilda watches in amazement. Her poison spreads throughout its body but for some reason, the further it spreads out the less potent it becomes. What started as a dark purple liquid, fades to pink before eventually disappearing inside the large-green mass.

Hiro finally catches up with Bathilda only to stop in shock and confusement himself.
"What the hell is that!?" he calls out to Bathilda.
"It's called a Giant Slime. Wing Slash doesn't work in it as it heals almost instantly and my poison dissipated inside its body. It wasn't strong enough to take it down. Maybe if we both use Poison Fang at the same time, in different locations, it'll be potent enough to do some damage," thinking up a good plan on the spot, Bathilda is quite pleased with herself but Hiro seems less than enthused about the situation.
"I don't wanna put my mouth on the thing!" Hiro voices the thoughts running through Bathilda's head.
"Unless you wanna be stuck inside this cave with me for eternity, we have to kill this thing and I think two strong doses of poison should do it," Bathilda hopes.
As they both take up their positions on opposite sides of the Slime, Hiro grumbles one last time before sinking his teeth. Bathilda watches her leech's poison entering the large body before she bites down herself. This time, her poison, combined with Hiro's, does a much better job than last time.
The Slimes body becomes a mixture of green and purple. Hiro removes himself its immediate vicinity but Bathilda continues to inject more and more of the purple substance into her victim.
It's hard to call him an opponent when he hasn't moved.
Not realising her error, Bathilda is pulled into the large-unmoving-gelatinous body and she finally realises why the Slime doesn't have to move. Anyone that attacks it will quickly find themselves trapped inside its overly-large body.
Barely able to move, Bathilda uses her wings to turn herself toward the direction she came in until she spots a small green core. The tiny gem in no bigger than a pebble and it isn't noticeable from outside either.
Taking a risk, Bathilda uses what strength she is able to muster from inside the Slime and she pushes herself toward the small green stone.
'Swim like a pro. It doesn't matter about Oxygen, you're a crazy-ass bat-monster now. You've got this,' she psyches herself up whilst pushing with every appendage she has before she reaches the green core.
As she's too slow to throw a Wing Blade due to her resistricted movement, Bathilda does the only other thing she can think of.
She chomps down hard on the core, which turns out to be very fragile, and she swallows it.
Bathilda level ups like she never has done before and a surge of power rushes through her. New Skills appear at certain intervals whilst others upgrade due to use but through all of that, there's only one thing on Bathilda's mind.
"Why were my last two opponents Kings? Am I going to be a queen? Queen Bathilda. I quite like the sound of that."

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017].
