《Bathilda the Bat》What's To Come

In a world dominated by monsters and the presence of the Demon King, the citizens of Home live a solemn and unexpectant life. Silence fills their streets and bare shelves fill their homes. The only noises usually present are those of grumbling tummies.
That's how life has been for every single resident of the walled-off city for as long as they can remember. Until the female Demon showed up one day and started leaving copious amounts of monster meat on their doorstep that is.
It's amazing how a full belly can raise spirits and morale.
The threat of the Demon King is still glaringly present. Even though Home has not had the pleasure of receiving the city destroyer yet, the fact that magical communications fail to reach anyone else means that they're still being blocked somehow by his mana.
Even with that reality bearing down on them, the small population of Home are livelier today than they usually would be. As Scout Jones heads towards his superior's office, he notices that the citizens are a lot more talkative than normal as they offer passing greetings.
A few are even engaged in conversation on the street. One that isn't related in any way towards death, the Demon King, or their ongoing suffering. A stark difference to the lives they lived not too long ago. Scout Jones smiles as he knocks on his commanding officer's door.
High up in the sky, someone else is smiling. Her and her companion are high-enough up so that no one can see them, but with their enhanced sight and skills they can see the ground below as clearly as though they were on it themselves. They watch as Jones goes to give his report and hope it goes well and they watch the people below make their way about their daily lives.
"Should I fill that gorge with water? That would be a bad idea, right? Surely some monsters can swim. If I leave it as a death pit, it's guaranteed to work unless they can fly. And what should I do if they don't agree with my idea? I mean, it's already too late to stop me from making a defensive perimeter, but my other plans are all aimed at the betterment of their lives. Why wouldn't they accept them? Raising Livestock and cultivating fields in areas safe from monster attacks is genius, right? And defensive training for their military where they can only be attacked on one front is the best thing they can ask for! They need to get stronger if the Demon King is going to show up one day... Hiro?" Bathilda turns to see her male companion floating deadly still in the air.

Hiro has dark, red hair and orange eyes. A white ruffled shirt and black pants make his outfit simple yet elegant at the same time. He is statue still in the air holding illusion magic over his appearance. As he moves his eyes toward Bathilda, they turn from orange to red as he still can't hold the illusion through movement.
Giving up he drops it completely and a manly-dressed Bathilda returns her gaze. "I beg you, Bathilda. Level up your illusion magic, please. It will be so much easier for me. It hasn't leveled up once yet since I've been casting it on myself!"
"Is that why you weren't talking? I asked you like a million questions and you didn't even say anything." Embellishing her story dramatically, Bathilda acts wounded.
"I just don't want to be a girl anymore," Hiro hangs his head in humiliation. For a man, he can do some pretty good pouting. Nonetheless Bathilda feels like she's taken the joke too far and agrees to level up her magic.
Killing two birds with one stone, Bathilda creates three, extremely-large monster illusions and places them between the city of Home and the southern forest. Unlike Hiro's attempts, her own are on a much larger scale and she sees an instant rise in level.
'He's not going to be happy when I have to remove him to recreate the body.' She thinks.
"I can still hear your thoughts, you know!" Hiro complains knowing what will have to happen if he wants a higher skill level.
"It's not my fault you need a new body for the skill level to take effect. You wanted me to level it up..." She stops herself before it turns into an argument and heads to the north side of Home.
After they land, Bathilda and Hiro begin clearing out the trees between the city and the chasm of death. However, even with the ridiculous numbers that make up their status, Bathilda and Hiro only have one pair of arms each. Granted those arms can carry a fully grown tree all on their own, but when there's a forest's worth of trees to remove it is no way a quick job.

A few days later and the majority of trees have been thrown straight into what Bathilda has taken to calling the dumping ground. They placed a few good looking trunks outside the main gate of Home in case the townsfolk have a need for lumber, which Bathilda highly suspects they do. All that's left is to turn the earth and level it off before they can start sowing seeds.
If Bathilda was a selfish person, none of this would be necessary. She could sit in her lodge using creation magic to happily live out her days as a recluse. She could even protect the city without attempting to improve their living conditions, but that would sit well with her.
How could she live comfortably knowing the neighbours next door are famished and desperate? That's not the reason she studied so hard in college and then again at university is it? Bathilda's life-long goal, her ambition, is to help anyone in need.
Ever since Jonny Tornado came storming into her life, she has been isolated from other people. Even if those people see her as some type of monster, that hasn't dissuaded Bathilda in the slightest. She's going the extra mile. Putting the work in. Showing them how it's done.
Even if they don't come out to help the Demon and twin, Bathilda will still let them reap the harvest. She's actually hoping the citizens will take on the role of managing the fields once she has set them up because sewing and watering are about the extent of what Bathilda knows about farming.
'Once they see that the area is free from monsters, that will help strengthen their nerves.' Creation magic washes over the ground and levels it out. Dry areas are moistened whereas damp areas are made fertile. Grass grows around large square sections of soil that are leveled off in perfect lines.
In the end there are more plots than actually needed and with how fast creation magic solved the second part of their task, Bathilda's left wondering if she could have just made the trees disappear.
"It's a thought." A grey bag appears in her hand and Bathilda kneels down on the ground. She reaches into her bag and removes a single seed before placing it in a hole already made through creation magic. Carefully covering the seed with fresh soil, Bathilda stands up and smiles.
"Effort achieved," she throws a thumbs up Hiro's way.
"Just 999,999 more to go then," he laughs, motioning to the large sections of land waiting for Bathilda to give them her special touch.
"Fuck that! That would take a hundred times longer than ripping out those trees did. Watch this." Bathilda snaps her fingers and seeds of all different kinds appear over the open soil before they fall perfectly into their holes which close up behind them.
"Now that is definitely cheating," Hiro laughs.
"I know right," Bathilda laughs back as a small rainstorm appears over the fields, lightly watering the newly sown seeds. With their days work over after barely breaking a sweat, Bathilda decides to clear more trees towards the west of Home. She's curious to find out if she will be able to make them disappear with her magic and flies off to find out.
