《Yet another ”reincarnated as a monster” story, however, this time, it’s a carnivorous plant》Chapter 29: Meeting Lloyd

The Guild was filled to the brim with people. Most wore the same kind of single-cloth colourfull clothes as the ones outside and some wore more fancy, subtle clothes like the gentleman, but the stand out people were the ones sitting by the tables.
The room me and Hans entered was very large and fulled mostly with tables, chairs and people. On the opposite end to where me and Hans entered, a desk spanned the entire wall. No, thats bot quite right. It was more of a bar.
The bar was tended by three different men, all wearing penguin-suits. The costumes looked very fancy at a glance.
Two of the three bartenders were talking with people or singing papers, whilst the last one was serving drinks.
The wall behind them was covered in shelves, and these shelves were all weighed down by heaps of colourful liquir. No bottle resembles another, and no liquid bore the same colour as the others. They resembled potions made by witches in the faint light.
On the right and left sides of this counter were two doors, which people constantly entered and left.
However, the majority of people collected here were not the civilians and gentlemens i described earlier.
No, the majority of the people gathered were rough, armoured men of men.
And not only men.
Armoured women, robed women, robed men, men and women dressed obacioussly revealing, men and women dressed in saint-like apparall... All kinds of people. Most had a sword or a stick by their side, but some had a mace, stave, tower-shield, whip, throwing weapons of all kinds, daggers... All kinds of weapons.
I dont enjoy confessing to it, but if id had a bladder, i would have used it.
Only a few payed us any heed, and those who did either shrugged as if we were simple nobodies, as we were, or gasped.

At first, i thought they gasped due to me.
But then i noticed how they didnt even glance at me.
Their eyes were glued on Hans.
Confused, i glanced at her quickly.
She was content. Her entire face was brimming with joy and nostalgia. She was most definatly basking in the attention.
She strode through the crowded room with large, confident steps.
Once she reached the counter, one of the three bartenders light up, as if a grand revelation had become of them.
”Hansdotter!”
”Hey there, Lloyd!”
”I never thought id see you again!”
”Niether did i!”
”Im so glad to-, w-, whats that?...”
”o-, oh, this? This is my p-, pet!”
”...Pet?...”
”Y-, yeah, i was just exploring an old dungeon when i happened upon this lil’ guy! He understands swedish, and he can even communicate!”
”...Re-, really?! Oh, im so sorry, i just thought...”
”...That it looked like a Child of Venus?”
”...Yeah...”
”I know, i know, the similarities are striking, but... It isnt, alright? Ah, h8s name is Bob, by the way. Bob, this is Lloyd, also known as Rose Lloyd. Lloyd, this is Bob.”
I nodded slightly to Lloyd to show my understanding, and he nodded to me. He gasped at my movement, but seemed even more excited by the fact that Hans’ words stood true.
”Hes a pretty neat chap, aint he?”
”Sure is! He saved my life, y’know?”
”Oh? Do tell.”
And so, Hans painted the story of how i defeated the beast in broad, colourfull strokes.
Every now and then, Lloyd would gasp and glance at me with an awed expression.
”Oh my! Thats quite the story!”
”It sure is!”
”Leaving that aside, why have you returned?”
”...Do you remember the day i left?”

”...How could i ever forget. That was not a good day for the UU, no, for humanity as a whole. You talked of quitting with the reason of ”regaining the life i never got the chance to lead”, right?”
”...Yes, well... Its over.”
”...What do you-”
”He died.”
”...If you dont wish to talk about it, then i shallnt ask.”
”Thanks, Lloyd.”
Lloyd looked uncomfortable before continuing.
”...Would you like to continue where you left off?”
”What rank was i now again?”
”Let me see... Right, you were Demonic Tiger.”
”That high? Last time i remember i was only Ten-Footed Squid...”
”Your rank was raised after the war on account of your accomplishments.”
”Oh. I see... Well, thats neat.”
”Sure is. Now, i sure do hope you didnt loosen up after these years of rest.”
”I wouldnt call it rest, but... yeah, i hope so as well.”
”Hm. Would you like to register the pla-, ”Bob” as an exterminator as well?”
”Bob? Would you like to?”
Huh? Oh, um... Why not?
I nodded.
”Alright, if youll just fill out this form...”
He produced a paper out of thin air.
M-, Magic?!
He handed me a quill made of some sort of black feather, and i grabbed it in my root. He seemed to get excited by my every move.
The problem is...
I cant read this. At the top i see the UU thing, but the rest is just...
I moved the quill about in my hand and studied the words.
Hmm...
Hmmmmmmm...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....!!
I turned to Hans and she looked at me as if to say: ”Whats wrong? Go ahead.”.
I shrugged at the words and used my roots as best as i could to communicate ”I have no idea what this means please help me”.
After a while she made an ”Oooooh” sound and looked down at the paper. She pointed at an empty square and said:
”Write your name here. Can you do that?”
I nodded and wrote ”Bob” with crude, childish letters. I looked at my root. A-, Am i already so unused to it?...
N-, No! I used to have a beautiful handwriting, ready to awe any onlookers!
This will not stand!
I examined the paper and quickly found an empty space wherein nothing was written and nothing was supposed to be written.
There, i wrote. At first, it was crude and stale, but i quickly loosened up. Using my root for such precise work was new, but i didnt let that hinder me!
I squiggled, and i scrabbled, and i wrote, and i signed. After only a minute of silence (As niether Lloyd nor Hans dared speak to break my concentration), i was ready. My writing was quick yet gracious. It was done in a fleeting way which left only enough ink on the paper to see what was written. It was an angelic handwriting.
If you ask me.
Hehe.
As Hans and Lloyd stood in silent awe, i rewrote my name as best as i could, turning the crude and childish ”Bob” into the touch of an angel.
Internaly smiling, i turned to Hans, who had a complex look on her face.
”Huh? Oh, uh, yes. Age?”
She said as she pointed to another empty collumn.
Age?...
Hm...
I...
I reluctantly wrote 27 on the paper.
Hans nodded.
So far, so good.
”Birthplace?”
Blombusk Avenue, Great Britain.
”Race?”
...Flower.
”Class/Job?”
?
”Main Ability?”
Absorb.
”...”
...
...What?
”...What is this language?...”
Uhhh...

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Magic is Overrated
This is a side project I am starting for my own amusement. It's not meant to be serious but it can be. I'll post a chapter when I feel like and chapter lengths simply depend on how much I want to write. I don't even know where the story will go so you can say it will be an adventure for myself and any readers. This story is how I relieve my stress and cynical ideals so you have been warned.Synopsis: When the entire world is run on principals of magic and every person born a mage one boy can't help but despise it. This story is about his struggles and failures with his """"shitty"""" magic. He also is a member of a high ranking noble house filled with freaks. This can only go horribly wrong.Warning: Crude language and sexual situations. Along with crazy mishaps.
