《Yet another ”reincarnated as a monster” story, however, this time, it’s a carnivorous plant》Chapter 35: A Sticky Situation

Within seconds, the light bouncing about had dissappeared. Or, rather, it had been caught by the other slimes.
Once the darkness encapsulated the area again, the entire cluster of slimes were all glowing faintly.
The slime Hans had cut was spewing a thinner goo, but after a few seconds, the would sealed itself.

I finally realized what it looked like.
A cell!
Its got a membrane to keep all the goo in, its got goo to protect the core, and a core to do controll the cell!!
Now where is the mithocondria...
Feels kinda wierd fighting a cell, but...
So we just slash it? Like how Hans did?
Easy peasy?
Lemon...
Squeezy?
But, then again... Were not dealing with one.
Um, Voice?
- Yes? -
I dont want to know the stats of each and every one, but... Do they all have White Magic?
- Yes. -
And a high level of absorb?
- Yes. -
And acid spi-,
- Yes, most of them are very similar, if not identical, to the one before you. Though i do recommend attacking before its pals heal him. -
Wait, heal? These can heal each-,
Before i finnished my question, one of the slimes started glowing brightly, before shooting out a small ball which contained the majority of its light. The small, brightly glowing ball promptly hit the woulded slime, who absentmindedly (tough im not sure if they even possess minds...) absorbed it into its body. The light within the small ball started bouncing about, and soon it looked the same as it had when we first saw it.

Hans must have, in the brief period that the ball of light flew through the air, noticed the momentous amount of slimes, as she audibly swallowed.
”...Bob, these are dangerous foes. They overwhelm you with their sheer numbers, and when you think youve defeated one, the other heal them. Exceptionally dangerous, especially in these numbers. I thought Lars was talking about the common Green Slime, but this...”
Hans mumbeled, almost too quietly for me to hear.
- The level of Swedish Speaking has reached Lv.2. You can now speak two words in rapid succession (sentance) in swedish. The probability of more words being translated has also increased by 10%. -
...Perfect.
”Wi-, Will attack.”
”...Ill slash ’im, and you use that absorb think in the wound, right?”
”Will do.”
Hans swiftly stepped forward and once more slashed the slightly smaller slime, which shook under the gust that the sword created. However, Hans made a mistake. Her sword didnt conntect, but simply cut through the air above it.
”Tch!”
Hans clicked her tounge, but just as she tried to turn the sword around to cut it once more, a beam of light exited the slime. The beam flew through the air before narrowly missing Hans’ left eye.
Stoically, she disregarded this attack and slashed through the thick yet soft membrane.
Soft goo started welling out of the hole, and i realized my role in this just as Hans turned to me with bloodshot eyes.
One of my roots shot out like an arrow, but just as i did so, three or so slimes each let a ball of light shoot out at the wounded slime. However, my root was first.
My root lodged itself deeply in the soft goo, just as the wound closed around it.

It would seem that not even the surplus of energy the slime recieved could change its molecular structure and, as such, my root was not cut of.
I activated absorb at full power, and the goo within the slime depleated. Slowly. Very slowly. Too slowly.
As i tried to absorb it, the slime activated its own absorb, partially weakening my own.
I had to end it quickly, and i knew i couldnt take my time and absorb the entire thing at that moment. Instead, i acted on my instincts, and slithered my root arounf the core.
Something akin to shock rippeled through the slime as my root twisted around the core. It was completely round and hard, like a ball of crystal or something.
”Shiiiiiii!”
The slime made a strange hissing noice as i attempted to absorb its core. I could feel just how much energy was in it, and, in a fit of sheer hunger, i absrobled it all.
The husk of the slime that was lets staggered for a second before collapsing in on itself like a puffed up cake removed from the oven sinking into a flatter shape.
I felt a small surge of pride as i turned back to Hans.
”Dont celebrate before the battle is over, Little One.”
L-, Little O-, well! No time to worry about that!
Weve got a big battle before us!
