《Twilight over Arcania》Lore: Race: The Humans

Humans
Humans are not a species native to Arcania. A fact not known by it's inhabitants. It's unknown when humans appeared first on the planet, but it was only in recent times, geologically speaking. How humans got to Arcania is a mystery as well.
There exists three species of humans. Fair Skins, Dark Skins and Elves. The differences between them are more pronounced then the differences between Homo Sapiens and Homo Neanderthal.
There are about fifty million humans on Arcania in total. No human civilization has yet achieved the industrial age.
Dark Skins
Dark Skin humans, like the name suggests, have a dark skin tone. They are the most physically capable species of human, boasting great strength, speed and reflexes. This comes at a cost. A Dark Skin's strength wears on their body, shortening their lifespan. Dark Skin are the shortest lived species of human. Life expectancy is about forty years.
While Dark Skin humans instinctively use Basal magic to strengthen their bodies, their aptitude for magic is the lowest amongst all human species.
Dark Skin Humans tends to form small insular communities if left on their own.
Fair Skins
Fair Skin humans can be considered the jack of all trades amongst human species.
Some individuals can achieve significant fighting prowess, while others can boast great aptitude for magic. Users of Elemental and Advanced magic are fairly common.
Fair Skin are shorter and physically weaker than Dark Skin Humans and their skin tone, as the name suggest, is lighter.
Fair Skin will form large sprawling civilizations if left unchecked, and will wage wars to expand their territories, even against their own.
Elves
Elves boast the greatest magical aptitude amongst all human species. The best weavers amongst them can achieve Space Magic.
Elves are tall, but thin, they have long pointy ears and have the lowest base strength amongst all human species. Elves stop ageing after hitting maturity, meaning they will live until something kills them, but their fertility rate is the lowest, severely limiting their numbers.

Being ageless, time has little meaning to an Elf. Elves abhor change and like to live their lives in peace. They spend their days in homes made from living trees that are as long lived as they are, practising their craft of choice as a form of art, striving for perfection.
Hybridization
While possible for humans to breed with humans of a different species, it's rare for a relationship to result in childbirth. The offspring will always be of one of the parent's species, half Fair Skin half Dark Skin are impossible. Often the child will be infertile.
It's possible, albeit incredibly rare, for a human of one species to be born from two parents of a different species if they both had an ancestor of that species.
Civilizations
On Arcania, Humans rule over the island continent of Cullania and over the continent of Terrania. There is a significant human presence in the largest continent as well, Calvaria, but many other races live there, so the humans are not dominant in that continent.
Religion
Gloria is by far the most popular goddess, but Humans worships many deities.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

Hugh Johnson and the Seven Evil Alts
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Hugh Johnson was having a bad day. First there was the stupid long line to get into Comiket, then Truck-kun smashed him into paste, a lolii-goddess who punched him into another world, and finally, a wolf that decided to snack on him. And that was just the last 15 minutes. Now he needs to save Eternasy from the Seven Evil Alternate characters he created while playing Endless Fantasy before they destroy the world. Who knew that your actions in a game would have real-world consequences? Join Hugh as he takes on his first Evil Alt and journeys to the Lair of Daemon Wyrm. Hugh Johnson and the Seven Evil Alts will contain tropes familiar to readers of Japanese isekai light novels - a humorous progression fantasy with slice of life scenes, cute girls, burley men, dungeons, magic, and mayhem. Be warned that the MC is not a clueless weeb who has no idea how women or the world works. Expect this to read like hot garbage, and you will not be disappointed. I never expected to toss it into the Writeathon, but I have poor impulse control, so here we are.
