Chapter 0123
Ever seen Linda Blair in the Exorcist? She’s the little girl who turns her head 180 degrees to spew vomit and profanity at the priest trying to exorcise her. Aside from the weird head twisty thing, the eyes caught Tempest attention when she was watching the movie. They were pupil less, soulless eyes that creeps the hell out of Tempest.
Once a good precedent was set in Hollywood, people will continue to use it. The makeup artist continues with the effects and made zombies with the same type of opaque eyes.
So, pretty much any zombie movies had to have one zombie that had the strange kind of eyes.
The effect stills frighten Tempest. She doesn’t know why she is scared of strange looking eyes. Aria Se Jivoc had similar type of eyes, but she didn’t freak Tempest out as much as the little boy Tempest threw across the courtyard. It didn’t lessen the urge to smack her in the face a couple of times but it did dampen Tempest fight or flight reaction. Mostly her flight reaction.
It had to do with the pupils. Aria Se Jivock had opaque eyes, but she still had pupils. The little boy’s eyes are a very light blue, but it was all color and Tempest can see if he had a pupil or not.
Luckily his companion was fast enough to catch the little boy before it hit the dirty wall.
“I know he surprised you, but there is no reason for you to punt him across the courtyard.” a melodious voice came from the black hair black eyed girl that just entered the courtyard.
Her companion, another black hair black eye cultivator with pale white skin and cutting demeanor held the boy gently place the little boy on the ground without sparing Tempest and her group a second glance.
“I don’t like it when strangers run up to me for a hug.” Tempest lied with a straight face. She did pick up the boy before punting him across the courtyard. If she didn’t like being touched, she wouldn't pick him up in the first place. She’d do her best to avoid the embrace.

“Is that the excuse you’re using?” the gentle voice carried a hint of ice as the newcomer assesses Tempest and her pair of redheads. Tempest would have protested if she knew the pair of red heads were thought to be hers. One is a menace and the other is a weakling. Tempest would jettison the pair the first chance she got.
Distaste marred her lovely expression, making her look like one of those snobby aristocrats Tempest was never fond of.
“I’d like to see your reaction when a stranger runs up to you for a hug.” Tempest retorted. Tempest didn’t think her reaction to the little boy was bad, though a bit extreme from Earth’s standard, but it was nothing by the Cardinal Realm’s standard.
“I don’t think my reaction would be as extreme as you.” The young girl pronounced her judgement with an air of finality. Tempest growled. This new girl was seriously becoming a sanctimonious prick.
Tempest was about to make her move, yet Fenix beat her to the punch.
The fire mage glomped on the new girl.
“Your power is nice. Not as strong as Tempest but still nice.” the black hair girl sent Fenix flying like Tempest sent the little boy with the strange eyes flying. This time it was Graden who caught the flying Fenix before she hit the wall.
“Your reaction is not as extreme as mine huh?” Tempest taunted the black hair girl. She hates hypocrites the most. Damn judging people who hold others to a higher standard and looks down upon them when they don’t reach the standards, yet they never realize they would never reach the standard they set for other people.
“It’s different,” the black hair girl insisted. “Your red head is an adult and should have known better. You threw a little boy clear across the courtyard.”
“Weren’t you who said my reaction was extreme for the situation and when it happens to you, you do the same thing and insist you have the moral high ground? Let me tell you, can the sanctimonious bullsh*t or I will make sure you never speak again.”

“You think you can make good on your threat?” the black hair girl sneered as she gave Tempest a once over. Tempest didn’t look like she was rich or powerful in her plain woolen fabric made out of course materials while the black hair girl was dress in a pale blue silk robe with golden embroidery on the cuffs.
“I don’t make threats. I give warning.” Tempest can make good on her threat, though not in the way the black hair girl would think. It isn’t hard to asked Ventus to have one of the wind spirits following the black hair girl and muting anything she said.
“Try it.” The black hair girl brought out her weapon, a double edge thin flexible sword, three centimeters thicker than a rapier. The black hair girl handles the sword like Tempest would hand a pen, with familiarity and ease. She twirled the sword so fast it almost disappeared. If it wasn’t for the periodic flashes of light and the change in the air current Tempest wouldn’t have known there was a sword acting as fan.
“No bullying my friend.” The little boy went up to the black hair girl and gave her a childish beating, with weak hits that wouldn’t even harm a fly.
“Why are you trying to protect her after everything she’s done to you?” The black hair girl couldn’t help but screeched at the little boy. Talk about being backstabbed. Here she was trying to find justice for the little boy only for him to protect the girl who tossed him across the courtyard.
“Enough fighting.” The black hair man separated the duo with ease. Amount the people in the courtyard, he looks by far the oldest.
The black hair man looked to be about 16 or 17 years old, with a yellow complexion people with liver problems have, tired black eyes that easily made him look like a panda and sickly demeanour.
Even though he looks like he’s about to croak anytime soon, his voice had a sharpness to it.
“They started it first.”
“When the injured party isn’t complaining, why should a third party like you intervene? And don’t say it is the right thing to do! You didn’t even stop to check on the his condition before verbally attacking the other girl.”
“Bei Ting Mao, we’re both from the Heavenly Mountains. We should stick together in a foreign land, yet you are siding with an outsider. Why?” The betrayed expression marred the black hair girl’s beautiful face, making the once serene beauty a ragging mess.
“Yu Li Ming, the only outsider right now is you. We have to work together for the next five years. If the rumours are to be believed, the members in this courtyard will share a deep bond only death and a true dao companion can interfere with. I’d rather start off my cultivation as a mage with friends at my back rather than enemies I have to work with.” After the scolding Bei Ting Mao gave to Yu Li Ming, he turned an apologized to the rest of the group. “I’m sorry for Yu Li Ming’s behavior. My name is Bei Ting Mao. The girl behind me is Yu Li Ming and the little boy who accosted you is Starm Mi Viediel.”
“My name is Graden Murkeiel.” Gentle Graden stepped in as Tempest was still put out about Yu Li Ming behavior and Fenix is in no condition to do anything. “The other red head is Fenix Arosis and one in the arguing with Yu Li Ming is Tempest.”
Graden didn’t give Tempest full name as he would since Tempest didn’t tell him her full name.
“Big sister Tempest!” The little boy ran up to Tempest and tried to hug her. Tempest was able to control her reaction to his eyes this time and accept the embrace. Two surging powers entered Tempest’s body, nearly bringing her to her knees.
Tempest reacted like she’s been attacked and lash out at the little boy, punting him across the courtyard.
Bei Ting Mao reacted before anyone could and protected the little boy.
“We have to talk.” Graden said with a solemn mien. A group can not function if the members are attacking each other.
