《The Aether Universe》Chapter 50

Opening his eyes, he looked at his naginata made from darkness. Nothing changed and it looked exactly the same, but as he was looking at it, a loud voice spoke in his head.
"Master! Thank you for making me! I will forever work for you and help you kill your enemies!"
The loud voice startled him. "Jeez, keep it down will you?"
"Ah, sorry, master! Oops, sorry for yelling again. I'm just excited to be able to talk to you," the voice replied.
"Wait, do you have memories of when you didn't have sentience?" From how the naginata was talking, it seemed like it knew about him even before him giving it sentience.
"Why of course, master. I remember how you fought all of your enemies, brutally killing them as you should. I don't know what they were thinking trying to fight you."
It felt a bit weird having something look up to him so much, but he didn't mind. "Wait, so why didn't you talk then?"
"Simple, master. I couldn't. I might remember the things that you used me for, but back then, I had no will, no personality, no sentience. I was simply a weapon until master gave me sentience."
Tai nodded. "Hmm, I get it. Well, what should I call you? Do you have a name by chance?"
Tai felt the weapon 'shake its head'. "Nope, and a weapon such as me doesn't deserve a name. I am just a tool that master can use."
Tai sighed. This weapon's personality might become a pain from how it idolized him so much, but that wasn't exactly a bad thing as he would be 100% sure that it wouldn't betray him.
"Well, having no name is going to pose a problem. I don't want to just call you weapon, or naginata, so how about I name you Nagi, short for naginata?"

Tai nodded at the name. Not only did it sound cool, it was simple and simple and straightforward names were the best.
"I am not worthy of such a great name, but if it's master's choice, I would be honored to take the name, Nagi."
Chuckling a bit, Tai smiled. "Well then, Nagi it is." Holding Nagi in his hand, he stood up. "I'm curious about some things so let me test this out."
Tai dispelled Nagi, its solid form disappearing. "Nagi, are you still there?"
"I am always here, master. My naginata form is one of many as I am your darkness. Unless your darkness is destroyed, I will always be here, master."
"Huh, interesting, but I thought the skill only worked on weapons?"
"Weapon is a vague term, master. A stick could be a weapon for someone and a toy for someone else."
Listening to Nagi, a few lightbulbs lit up in Tai's head. "If that's how it works then what would happen if I make a weapon with my ki and give it sentience? Will it have the same effect as you?"
"Hmm, I'm not sure, but if I had to say. Most likely."
Tai talked about a few more things with Nagi and even fought together.
In the fight, Nagi assured Tai that it would take care of the defense as it either used Tai's darkness to make barriers that blocked attacks or morphed its weapon form to block attacks. While both were good, Tai didn't like the latter as it was annoying going for an attack and then his weapon changing shape to block an attack that he could've easily dodged. Other than that though, everything went smoothly.
Tai and Nagi were fighting alongside each other and demonstrating great teamwork as Tai focused on the offense with Nagi on the defense creating an unbreakable defense.

"Master, what is that over there?"
Tai raised an eyebrow as he looked to what Nagi was looking at. "A treasure chest, I think..."
Opening the chest, Tai found 3 items inside. A mysterious green orb, a weird looking purple fruit, and a bag of beans.
"What the hell?"
"Sir, another being entered the global leaderboard top 10," a female UEE officer reported to her superiors.
"Who is it?"
"It's not a person sir. Our soldiers have detected it at a forest in sector 345, and it's currently the ruler of the land. It calls itself, Fenrir, the Devourer."
Fenrir licked his teeth as he finished his meal for the day. "Master, we will meet soon and I can't wait to show you how much I've grown..."
Various wolves were kneeling down at the feet of a wolf that was 10 foot tall.
Around the wolf and its pack was a ring of black fire that seemed to burn everything around it.
"Fenrir, the orcs to the south and the drakes to the west have been spotted and are working in an alliance to overthrow you as the ruler of the land," one of the wolves said.
Fenrir let out a deep growl as the black flames raged and grew in size. "Let them come... They'll just become food for me."
A female wolf approached Fenrir, trying to seduce him. "Fenrir, honey. Don't be so mad. Your mate is waiting for you to give me a baby."
"Ughh, for the last time. You're not my mate. If you want to be my mate, then you'll have to become stronger. I won't accept someone as weak as you to have my children."
"Tsk, that was awfully harsh, honey..."

The Weather Vane
This is the first few chapter of my new book available on Amazon. The beginning is very light and fun, but more mature content comes later. From medieval fantasy to ultra high-tech to dinosaurs, The Weather Vane is a grippingly fast-paced adventure full of fun and excitement, literary flourish, and colorful characters. A group of ascendant masters find themselves in the afterlife and learn that they are newly recruited into the cosmic battle of good versus evil. Before they can join the fight, shipwreck strikes and they are lost in the ether. Stranded in a magical land beyond the reaches of the universe, The Weather Vane follows our crew of heroes as they try to piece things back together even while The Dark Lord’s forces march, maraud, and murder at every turn. Themes of darkness chase the overall levity of The Weather Vane which suffers not a lull as the climax begins near the beginning of the book and drives on through the greatly satisfying finish. The most epic of epics.
