The HP of Roxe was so high that it sent Kenshin to near despair even though he was stronger than it. The main reason for his irritation was the armor with insanely high DEF. He felt like he was hitting a turtle.

He skimmed through all his skills to find out if anything that could cause a huge amount of damage to it. The only skill that fist the bill was Explosion Ring he had copied from Maria. Earlier, due to his repeated usage, it had gained two levels managing to dish out 300 damage points. But it won’t be enough. To deplete that huge amount of HP, he needs something that causes even more damage.

“Okay then, let’s do it.” with a little hesitation, he dumped 8 skill point to the Explosion Ring skill.

“This is also possible?” every day he finds new things about his system. Generally, skill evolution happens when a skill reaches the maximum level. But he never knew it was possible even here. He pressed yes.

“WOW!” Kenshin screamed loudly after seeing the properties of the skill. After the upgrade, it had simply leaped up causing four digit damages. With it, killing Roxe would no longer be troublesome. Closing his eyes, he slowly reviewed the details of the skill embedded into his brain.

This time he observed that, unlike his previous skills, it had an activation time. It might be normal for higher level skills to have an activation time, Kenshin didn’t put too much thought into it.

By now Roxe had stopped its flailing. Slowly it adapted to the damaged hand and regained its fighting capability.

Kenshin slowly closed on to it; walking briskly like it was his backyard. He had already started the activation process for his new skill. Five seconds later, a small red sphere formed above his outstretched palm. Then the sphere enlarged, enveloping everything in a five meters radius within it.

Roxe, seeing the red sphere, tried to back away. But how could Kenshin give it time? With just a click of his fingers, he detonated everything, including the very air surrounding it had exploded.

KaBOOM!!!

A mushroom cloud formed on the spacious floor. The explosion was so large that it shook the very dungeon itself. Its power was way above of what Explosion Ring was capable of. Within that second, Kenshin had used explosion twice. Retracting his dome, he squinted his eyes to see the status of his opponent. The system hadn’t notified him of anything, means Roxe was still alive.

With a wave of his hand, he made all the smoke clear from his field of vision. In front of him was a massive trench formed from his two explosions. Walking a little closer, he found Roxe laying in the middle of the explosion. The armor on its body had already turned to dust. Its blue skin was charred black. Now that its helmet destroyed, he could see a feminine face charred black from the explosion. It had a head full of white air; half of it had burned to crisp. Thick blisters formed all over its body and face. It had red star-shaped pupils, looking emotionless and lost.

Tik! Tok!

As the sound of Kenshin’s footsteps heard, it turned its eyes towards him. It didn’t have any hatred or anger in them, only resignation and acceptance. Except for its eyes, it didn’t have any other part that could move. Kenshin noticed that its HP had only 10 points left, even a simple nudge from him would kill it.

“You are unexpected. Out of his calculations. It had never happened before. His powers had never failed him before. But your appearance wasn’t what he saw! How can it be possible? He had never failed before!” Roxe muttered incoherently.

“Not everything goes according to our wishes,” Kenshin said. Hearing Roxe’s mutterings, he felt obliged to answer it something.

“That’s true! Young warrior, you have defeated me fair and squire. As a reward, let me give you an advice, be careful of the Golden Skull. They were everywhere and their intentions are not good. Even with your power, you won’t survive a second against them. Heed my warning, one day they will surely come after you. Until that time comes, become as strong as possible. Only when you were strong can you fight them. So long, young contractor. Let’s meet again if fate permits us” saying its warning, Roxe started to fade little by little, until its body turned to dust and scattered in wind.

Only a piece of undamaged chest plate and boots remained of the red armor.

“I didn’t expect to hear a cliché line towards the end!! Sigh!! So troublesome” Kenshin could only sigh. As an RPG gamer, he had expected something like this to happen. But still, it made him more worry than relieved. There going to be a group of crazy men after his ass very soon, how happy can he be?

As if trying to cheer him up, the system issued his quest clear notification.
