-Vol 3: Enemies in The dark-

-The one who started it all; saves them all!-

Kenshin looked at the man who was jumping at him with daggers blazing. Sidestepping to his right, he avoided the strike. Then lifting his right clenched fist, he gave him a devastating punch. The force was enough to lift him a few meters above the ground before blasting him away.

“Aaah!!” the man screamed in pain as he landed on fire. He then jumped away from it and started rolling on the ground to put away the fire. Since time was scarce he didn’t wait for the opponent to get up, he closed on him and gave a kick to his stomach. The man curled like a shrimp, and slide back a few meters. The other two including the girl, everyone’s eyes widened at this.

The speed at which this man moved, and the force at which he struck, both are not something an ordinary hunter could do. If so, then didn’t that mean, he was a very strong hunter!?

The girl felt another strand of hope blossoming on her heart. This person was strong. It might be possible that he can help her!

She decided to risk it.

“Mister, please help me!! These guys are very evil. They killed and ate my friend!!” the little girl shouted, towards the end, she even broke into tears.

Everyone widened their eyes at the girl’s sudden outburst, though for varied reasons. The remaining two middle-aged men, out of fear while Kenshin out of surprise.

He hadn’t expected to bump into those notorious group. They were the enemy of all humans, even the government and various guilds had set out an kill on sight against that group. They were extremely notorious for their cannibalistic tendencies and extremely cruel behaviors.

It makes things all the more simple.

Kenshin swiped his hand and sent out a death slash flying towards the boss who was holding the girl.

Normally, the boss would have sidestepped it or used the girl as the shield, but the attack was so sudden that, before he realized, it was a hair’s breadth away from his torso. In that split second, he tried everything to dodge, by stepping to his right.

*Squelch!*

The blood splattered like a fountain as his left hand separated from his body. The little girl also managed to avoid the strike, since Kenshin had made the attack that way. With the hand flying in the air, the girl also sent flying.

With a flash, Kenshin appeared in a burst of speed and caught the girl in her mid-flight. Sliding his leg on the ground, he stopped his speed. Conjuring another Death Slash, he sent it towards the remaining one.

Within a tenth of a second, the attack appeared in front of the man’s neck. He wasn’t like his boss, who was a strong hunter with an agility related skill. He was completely unable to avoid it. The attack continued unobstructed, separating his head from his body. It even separated several trees behind the man into two.

There were only two remained.

It has to be noted that, it was his first time killing someone. Due to the urgency of the situation, it hadn’t sunk into his psyche yet.

With a flurry of movements, he neared the downed hunter, who had attacked him first. He bent down and grabbed his shirt, moving his arms, he sent him flying to a nearby flaming bush. The fires instantly surrounded him and burned him into a crisp.

Only one remained.

The boss, by now trying to stand up and run. But due to the loss of his hand and losing too much blood, he was not able to do so. Kenshin, like a grim reaper, gave him a kick to his stomach. The force was so high that it broke his spine.

“AAHHAA!!!” the man shouted in intense pain. It was so unbearable that he wished to die. The spinal chord was very delicate as well as one of the most important parts of the body. It was the main organ that maintains the nervous system and body balance.

Kenshin didn’t spare him another glance, he simply grabbed the girl tightly and ran towards his intended location.

The man continued screaming for a long time before finally consumed by the fire. He was burned to death by the very flames, on which he had cooked many innocent girls and ate.

A truly fitting death.

Grabbing the girl tightly, Kenshin hastily ran. The fires were close to the group than before. He had wasted a few minutes in the earlier scuffle, although he didn’t regret it, he was still depressed at the time he consumed.

Right now, every second count.

“Where are we going?” the girl asked in wonder and some fear. She didn’t demand to go away from the fire. This man had saved her, out of gratitude and gratefulness, she didn’t question his intentions.

“To a place where many people got stuck. I don’t want them to die!” Kenshin replied.

“Thank you!!” the girl said, after staying silent for some time. although her voice was a mosquito-like, Kenshin still heard her loud and clear.

“Your welcome!” he said, before speeding up.

After that Kenshin resumed his running. The distance was not that much high, but the number of twists and turns he had done was time-consuming. Finally, after several minutes, he finally reached the location.

It was a camp, specifically camp filled with children between age group if 12 to fifteen. Right now, the whole camp was surrounded by fire, while the children were huddled in the middle. Some were crying loudly, while others were looking everywhere anxiously.

But nobody was trying to run. There was also absent of an adult amongst them, it surprised him immensely. He understood the presence of children here, as it was common for top class schools to send their students to gain experience, but where are the teachers?

“It's our camp!!” the girl shouted loudly when she saw the place and the children.

“Your camp! Where are the teachers?” Kenshin asked furrowing his brows.

“I don’t know!” she shook her head.

By now, their presence had attracted the attention of all the children. Kenshin also frowned at this.

How the hell was he going to rescue a bunch of brats??

“Sigh!! Okay, everyone, follow me!!” he shouted loudly while placing the girl on the ground. The children immediately gathered in a line. As students of private schools, during normal times, they were filled with unyielding pride. But the situation didn’t allow them to show their pride.

Their teachers already ran away the moment the fire started. Their only hope was this man.

Kenshin nodded at their discipline. The little girl had already entered the group, standing near a girl of her age. Although everyone’s face was filled with dread, there was also a shred of hope in their eyes.

A hope that they would survive this.

Kenshin intensively checked the map for the best way with less amount of danger for this children to take. He wouldn’t allow a single one of them to die!!
