Vol 4: To The North Pole!-

-Entering The Hidden Settlement!-

Kenshin watched in astonishment as the tear in air descended all the way to inside the snow ground. He knew it was no skill, it was all pure power of her strike, but even that was enough to make such exaggerated atmospheric changes.

The rumours are true it seems, when someone touches level 100, they no longer belong among the mortals.

BOOM!!

The snowy ground bursts opened as even more tentacles came out and tried to attack the airborne Vera. But the weird thing was that the monster had yet not revealed its actual body. Its as if, it didn’t consider Vera as a threat enough to come out personally. From this Kenshin could roughly guess the power of this monster.

But since it hadn’t emerged, he could be wrong too.

Then suddenly Vera changed her strategy. Instead of dodging, she suddenly went on the offensive. With her sword, she made swiping motion in the shape of a triangle. A blue light emerged from her sword and formed a big triangle shape as it travelled at a breakneck speed towards the mass of tentacles.

Like a hot knife going through a piece of butter, the blue triangle passed through the mass of tentacles and cleanly separated them from the main body in the process. It didn’t stop there and travelled unhindered until cutting a triangle shaped piece of land in the ground.

BOOM!!

Another blast occurred as a big piece of frozen in the shape of a triangle land caved in.

SWISH*

Finally, she came down. She landed on the ground softly like a feather from a bird. Her meter long sword was placed face up on her shoulder while she looked down into the triangular pit.

Kenshin checked his map and found the big red dot had now changed its position and was now a few meters away from where it was before.

Suddenly Vera moved and vanished from her spot and appeared just above where the monster was now. At that time, a mass of fat and sturdy set of tentacles burst forth from the ground and flailed around, destroying everything in their path. But even if they are moving very fast and strong as hell, they still couldn’t touch Vera who was dodging them all with barest movements possible from her part. Suddenly a tentacle came her way from the top and was about to squash her, but then a line appeared on its midsection before several more vertical and horizontal followed all over it. Within a blink of an eye, the massive tentacles which were probably a meter or two thick and 20 meters long were minced into tiny pieces.

Kenshin couldn’t even saw when she moved and made that many slashes. In his eyes, she didn’t even move, but the tentacle was slashed into million pieces. As of right now, his perception which was related to his AGI was nearing 100, but even so, he couldn’t see her move.

Just how fast was she? Kenshin’s horizons broadened after seeing Vera in action.

It has to be expected. Kenshin was only level 32, but Vera had already surpassed level 100. There was a level gap of approximately 65 levels, meaning 260 stats different. To match her speed and might, he would probably need a 1000% or more boost from his title effect.

Maybe even that won’t be enough.

BOOM!!

There was a little earthquake, probably from the creature’s flailing inside the ground.

“It's running away” Kenshin shouted loudly. He had never left his eye from the map, tracking the creature’s every move. When he saw the red dot was moving away at a very high speed, he shouted loudly.

But unfortunately for Vera, she couldn’t pursue it when it was inside the ground. Even while she fought it, she actively tried to search for its exact location, but it was beyond her perception’s reach. All this time she was only fighting its legs and arms but not its body.

She frowned at this. Although this creature wasn’t powerful, it was damn big and very timid or probably cunning. It had employed a hit and run strategy. Vera was able to confirm something fishy from this little event. Maybe this creature was here to scout out their power, if so, then other hunters are might be in trouble.

With a flash, she appeared beside Kenshin, scaring the latter half to death.

“Leader you are so strong!” Kenshin praised her with a little smile.

“Thank you. I believe you also hit this level someday.” Vera accepted the praise with a smile. She had no problem accepting praises when it was deserved. She also didn’t shy from praising someone when they deserve.

“You think so!” Kenshin was little happy when she recognized his worth. Although he had the system and knew he would be one day touch this level, it was still felt good to be verbally hearing it.

After all, every human loved praises.

“Okay, come down. Let us move into the settlement. I am sensing something fishy here.” Vera frowned when she spoke the last few words. She wanted to go in and find what really had happened. It was gnawing on her consciousness.

They could no longer the straight way as there was a large hole as well as many small mountains formed as an aftermath of Vera and the squid’s battle. As a result, they had to make a curve around, taking an extra two hour. But finally, they reached the entrance to hidden settlement by the government.

Vera pulled the car to one of the safe looking places and came out with her sword. She also held a supply bag in her hands. Kenshin also followed her and done the same. Although he had his inventory, he couldn’t reveal that to her.

Walking behind her, they finally reached a metal door, big enough for two people to allow entrance. There was a biometric identifier in the front, but right now it wasn’t working. Probably broken beyond repair.

“It's broken. We have to force our way in.” Vera said and stepped aside, “common! Do it!”

“Ehh! Me?” Kenshin was puzzled when suddenly she stepped aside and gave him the stage.

“You are a helper of mine, so you have to do all these menial tasks. I can’t bother with these things. Besides, I am lady okay! What if it hurt my beautiful skin?” she teased him with a straight face making Kenshin unable to retort.

“….Okay!” in the end he agreed and slowly approached the gate.

With his right hand, he grabbed the handle of his sword and slowly pulled it out of the scabbard. A beautifully crafted long sword was revealed to the world. Its blade wasn’t steel, it made purely out of some kind of shiny red metal. The guard of the sword was made of a blue crystal-like substance, with a straight black handle. It didn’t have a pommel.

The sword’s look was no different from a decoration sword, but a true master could tell just how dangerous was this sword. Narrowing his eyes, Kenshin moved. The sword moved as a brilliant light flashed.

CLING* CLING*

With clinging noise, the metal gate probably weighing more than a ton or two cleanly cut into peace and fell down to the ground.

“Let’s go!” Kenshin spoke as he looked at Vera in a 45% degree angle while slowly sheathing the sword back to its scabbard.
