-Vol 5: A New Life-
-The reappearance of Laser Hero-
Kenshin and Yuki spend more than half an hours talking with each other about various matters and mundane things. During this time, Kenshin revealed that he was going to buy a sports car, the advanced one available in the market which made Yuki very happy as well as eager for its arrival. The look of admiration on her face made Kenshin feel a strange pride welling inside. Kenshin might not know that these sports car stands in the heart of current youth, but how could she, who had spent most of her time among the upper echelons didn’t know?
It’s a symbol of status and wealth. The fact that it was Kenshin who was going to buy made it all the more sweet for her. In the past, there were many rich young men tried to pursue her. They would always come to showcase their wealth and status in front of her. Few even gifted her some valuable gifts, going as far as gifting few precious villas to expensive and luxurious cars. As such, she had seen many such cars and other luxurious products, but she never felt compelled to accept them.
It was not until Lily’s return to the café that Yuki left. Alone in the shop, Kenshin began thinking about how he should complete the task he had taken. He had promised to eradicate that racket before tomorrow morning, now, he only had a little more than eleven hours left for it.
How should he do it? Is it that he should just storm in and cause a slaughter? That might be a good option! But the problem was that he cant cause a mass slaughter. Killing one or two was no problem to him but killing a whole bunch was impossible. His psyche couldn’t handle it. Ultimately, he hadn't tempered himself enough to handle such extreme things.
Kenshin smiled bitterly and shook his head in a self-mocking manner. He knew it was his own weakness talking but what can he do? He can only take a step at a time. He could gradually temper himself and achieve a state where such actions won't provoke that kind of anxious feelings. As a human, everyone had certain reservations towards killing their own kinds. Back, when he burned the whole island inside that dungeon, he couldn’t handle the anxiousness after and went in himself to save as many people as he could. If not meeting Yuki after, it would have left a lasting impact on him.

It was also the reason why he didn’t kill those people of Gilgamesh Guild when they were bullying Natasha and her group. He had killed a few of those Golden skulls, but he knew they weren't humans, so managed to find an excuse for himself. This time though, he was going to face humans. Despite how disgusting they were, they are still of the same species. Kenshin discovered that this task tonight will be a huge ordeal for him.
Shaking his head once more, he ordered a coffee for him along with a few pastries to calm his mind. Tonight, he must remain calm no matter what happens. He was also anticipating on how many strong hunters he would face, after that change in his intent, he was itching for a fight with his unleashed Intent.
“Hmm! This thing is good!” Kenshin muttered unconsciously as he took a mouthful of the pink cake on the platter.

“Lily are you sure about what you said to him? I think we should provide help, even if its Kenshin, handling so many people; even if it's not impossible with his strength, I am afraid his mind couldn’t take it.” Yuki spoke gravely after returning to her office cabin. She perfectly understood the dilemma Kenshin would face even if later didn’t mention it to her ever.
“I think there was no problem with it. Isn't he someone you love? Did you have so little faith in him?” Lily glanced at her with her calm and cold eye, as if this conversation has nothing to do with her. Shaking her head that russeled her mildly long hair, she continued “Besides, I don’t think Mr. Kenshin is a foolish person. He clearly knows what he was getting into when he accepted my offer.”
“You seem to have a very good impression of him! How so? Is that cold heart of yours melted a little due to recent global warming?” Yuki smiled and mocked her. Now that she heard Lily’s reasoning, she felt somewhat relieved. Sighing secretly, she decided to mock her a little.

“Hmm, I think so too. These days the temperature is a bit high.” Lily also didn’t back down. Using her ever cold baritone voice, she replied as if talking about the weather, which she really did.
*Tiktikk*
Yuki gnashed her teeth in anger after hearing it. She could never win an argument with this woman no matter how hard she tried. Its as if she had an answer to everything.
“One day! I swear, one day I will defeat you and make you speechless of my retort!” Yuki banged her table, with red eyes she swore again…for tenth time since their meeting.
Curling her mouth to a smirk, Lily threw a look of disdain at her and said “I will see when that day comes! Haha!”

5:54 PM, the same day;
In his room, Kenshin sat on the floor with his legs crossed and his eyes closed. He was like this since he came back from the café. He was repeatedly thinking of something; can he still his heart enough to achieve what he was going to do today? Can he kill that many people if the situation calls for it?
He wasn’t naïve enough to think that everything would work out fine and there was no need for him to kill. He knew murphy’s law well. And he was preparing himself for the worst. Right now, he found a new excuse, that was to think about saving all those children who were suffering under those human-shaped monsters. By diverting his mind, and thinking about this, he managed to suppress the anxiousness in his heart, but for how long?
Just how long did he need to think about excuses? Sooner or later, he would run out of it. That’s why he was thinking of tempering his mind enough to handle such things. As a hunter, he knew there would come a day like this. And for that day he was always preparing himself, but now that the day has finally arrived, he found that all his preparations weren’t enough.
*Beep*Beep*
Suddenly his alarm clock beeped as he had set it to ring when the time was 6 PM. Kenshin calmly opened his eyes, there was a glint in his eye, a determination, along with a hint of anticipation and anxiousness. There was also a hint of indecisiveness hidden behind that determination, but it was carefully concealed.
Kenshin slowly stood up at the same time the bracelet on his right hand began to shine. That shine expanded and started to slowly engulf him, starting from his right hand to his right leg. Soon the shining light covered him entirely before slowly dimming. In his place was now standing a fully dressed soldier that one would typically see in those frozen areas. Even the face was covered behind a gas mask.
It was the Laser Hero who saved everyone back in the north pole by driving back that demonic hand back to where it came from. He had appeared again, this time it was to slay a bunch of ingrates.
“The hell is wrong with this transformation? Why did it shine like those magical girl animes? Damn, for a second I felt so exposed!!” Kenshin’s rage-filled voice came out of the masked mouth, completely destroying the cool atmosphere just now.

Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.
