-Vol 5: A New Life-
-Conclusion-
Kenshin appeared several kilometers away from the place where he kidnapped the man named No 3. He knew that if that so-called captain has to come back, even if he had the confidence to defeat him, he might be defeated if they gang up on him. He didn’t have the wish or need to take that kind of risk. Hauling the man into his shoulder, he made his way towards DCB’s main branch in Mito. Nonetheless, the man had eaten enough punches to keep him doused for the rest of the night, so he wasn’t worried about being stabbed in the back literally.
“Hello! Yuki! Can you send someone to receive a package I have? Yeah…no it's not him. Yeah, he is one of the lackies with him. Yeah. Okay.” After his conversation with Yuki was over, he put the phone in his Inventory and walked in a jolly mood. But although he was walking, the speed was still faster than the average speed of a car. It took him nearly twenty minutes to reach Yuki’s office, there he saw a group of people, probably hunters, standing around two women. Yuki and Lily. One looked worried while others had a cold look on her face, quite the contrast there. Kenshin couldn’t help but smile at this, these two friends, they are completely different from each other.
As soon as Kenshin came into their view, Lily immediately ordered all the hunters surrounding her to go there and bring the package for questioning. If this man tells anything, then it would be a huge leap towards cracking the case of Child pornography, a stain of humanity. It might even bolster the prestige of Mito’s upper echelons for taking down such an organization. Both Yuki and Lily had no interest in such prestige as they had more than enough under their belt, but others might need this.
Throwing the man towards the group of hunters like he was a sack of potato, Kenshin made his way towards Yuki and Lily. The hunters caught the body and checked the condition of the prisoner, soon a weird look flash on their eyes as they warily looked at Kenshin’s direction. This man, he no longer resembles a human being, his face was completely out of proportion with everything. As lower level hunters, they don’t know any confidential details hence they didn’t know what crime was this man was involved him, but they guessed that he must have pissed off this masked soldier very much to have his face changed into this. Not daring to even look at his face anymore, they quickly carried the unconscious man in a fireman carry.

“That man is a fire type magic skill user, be careful,” Kenshin warned the men. Although he was unconscious, he was still a magic skill user with magic power flowing in his veins. Who knew if something wrong occurs and the magic power rampages around, injuring them in the process. Magic skill users were no different than radioactive metals, even while sealed carefully, there was still a chance of harming everyone present.
After hearing Kenshin’s warning, the people hurriedly change their expressions and carefully held the body like it was made of fragile glass. Kenshin also had another intention, he wanted to warn the guys to prepare a suitable cage for him. He had seen firsthand how powerful were those flames, it could even burn down tiny particles, so who could say if it could burndown heavy chains and cages? That skill had piqued Kenshin’s interest very much, but he already had a powerful skill of that category which he had copied from Maria and upgraded it several times. That skill even went through a fundamental change making it several times stronger than its original.
As a result, he didn’t attempt to copy his skill.
After the group of hunters went in with the body, the front office only had Yuki, Lily, and Kenshin standing.
“Okay, come into my office!” adopting her director persona, she lead Kenshin and Lily to her office. Kenshin was a little excited as it was his first time coming to Yuki’s office. He felt like entering to his crush’s room for the first time that weird sense of anticipation made Kenshin happy for some reason.
During his school days, he had a crush of his own. That time he hadn’t met Yuki as of yet, and his parents were still alive. Except for wasting his days in school and taking care of a toddler Akari, he didn’t have anything else to worry about. Those are quite the days…Kenshin let out a sigh of loneliness. Yuki heard his sigh and threw a glance at him from the corner of her before turning around.
Before long they came inside Yuki’s office. Kenshin looked around and found that it resembled that Leena Cooper’s office a whole lot, only some minor changes like the picture of…something hung on the wall. They call it modern art, but Kenshin didn’t understand it the least bit. After Kenshin entered the room, Lily closed the door behind him. Paying it no heed, Kenshin turned around and sat on the sofa before removing the helmet.

Coming around, Yuki sat beside him before wiping his face with her handkerchief. Although he didn’t have any sweat coming out of the face, the action still warmed Kenshin’s heart. The corners of his mouth stretched as a smile blossomed on his face.
With a frown marring her face, she asked: “Are you alright?”
“Yeah! I am okay. Nothin to worry about…” Kenshin smiled and took the handkerchief from her hand before holding her hand with his right hand. Yuki’s face turned red at Kenshin actions, but she didn’t say anything and remained as she was.
“Ahem!! I am sorry for being the third wheel, but I believe there are some important things to discuss here.” Lily voice broke the pin world formed by both love birds. Yuki turned even more red before turning around and glaring at Lily. As for Kenshin, he fake coughed to regain his composure. A tingle of red could still be visible on his face.
A smirk formed on Lily’s face which went unnoticed by both Kenshin and Yuki who were busy with their acts. Adoring a cold person, she looked at Kenshin deeply and started to explain what happened after he went after that man.
“More than twenty hunters involved in this case were captured alive. Three were killed, and two were successful in running away, but it would be not for long. We have already identified them, its just a matter of time before they get captured too. We also lost one hunter who was killed because of his mistake. Two hunters were gravely injured and now recuperating in hospital. Ten have light wounds, rest were just scratches and bruises here and there.” Lily stopped allowing Kenshin to soak in all the details.
“So we lost one, and two were gravely injured…there were such a force hidden right below our nose, and we are none the wiser…sigh… yeah… what about those girls?” suddenly remembering those girls he had rescued Kenshin asked Lily about them. He didn’t mention anything about his summoned zombies who were dressed like him. He later commanded them to immediately leave the premise when the hunters arrive. Though what surprised him most was despite him apprehending more than twenty, there were still twenty people hiding in that building.
“Yeah, I am getting to them. We found ten girls between 14 to 19 heavily drugged and defiled. Two girls who were at most 10 years…drugged and defiled…one twenty years old teacher…defiled and broken. They all are going through intensive treatment in the hospital. The doctors were doing everything in their power to save them from drug addiction. They will be sent to a hospital designed for drug addicts and see a psychiatrist for a long time.”
BOOM! CRACK!!
The table on the front of the sofa where Kenshin was sitting broke into tiny particles. It didn’t break but simply dismantled into tiny pieces of wood and glass. A red aura emitted from Kenshin’s body as it enveloped the whole room.
“Calm down Kenshin!!” Yuki who was sitting beside him was on the verge of fly out like a kite due to the force of Kenshin’s aura shouted at the top of her lungs. Jerking his head, Kenshin came to his senses. The red force as well as the blast of force, all vanished without a trace. Yuki also fell upon the sofa as the force pushing her vanished. The whole office was in disarray, with nearly everything dismantled into tiny particles. They didn’t break but dismantled.
“Ah! Sorry, Yuki. It's just that…I couldn’t control my emotions there. I am really sorry.” Kenshin looked worried as he apologized Yuki again and again.
“Ah! Don’t worry. I am okay. It’s just, I was about to sent flying, you know…sigh…!!”
“I am very very sorry.”
While Kenshin was busy with placating Yuki, Lily had a wide-eyed expression as he looked through all the destruction he had caused unintentionally. She knew what happened, it's purely the effect of Kenshin’s aura, there was no skill involved here. For someone’s aura to become strong enough to affect the reality like this, she was afraid not many people can do this. In fact, while every hunter after a certain level could awaken their aura or Intent, rarely ever their auras affect reality like this.
Narrowing her eyes, she looked at Kenshin with newfound emotions that were completely different from her earlier wonderous and dismissal look. If it was really what she was thinking, then she needs to make a few calls and report to her superior about it.

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Our team of outcasts and adventurers will have to rely on their trust - and the bane of all stories, healthy communication - just to survive, let alone understand what the system is doing. Because they're quickly realizing that it's doing something; to people, to monsters, and maybe even to the gods themselves. And their goal isn't just to survive; it's to make things better. It's a good thing they're not doing it alone. --- Edge Cases is an attempt to take the LitRPG genre and the overpowered MCs trope and write a story where numbers aren't everything. Sometimes it takes trust, support, and just a touch of being very, very clever. Expect a mix of action, slice-of-life, friendship, and ominous worldbuilding. Updates M-W-F at 6pm EST. Cover art by Alovck of Artstation, and typesetting by jessessey right here on RoyalRoad.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
