-Their First Dungeon Raid(1)-

5 days later.

On a certain dungeon which was quite far from their home town, Kenshin, Joy, and Chiba gathered t hunt for a level 6 dungeon. Kenshin agreed to Chiba’s condition and they, together, forged a temporary contract which would be valid for 10 dungeon raids. This contract was approved by Suguro, the head of the Mito branch’s DCB.

After forging the contract, they discussed to meet on this city to challenge this level 6 dungeon first. This dungeon was located on open land and contained Trolls and Ogres as monsters inside. The standard level of a monster inside this dungeon was 55, while the strongest one, which was also rumored to be the boss, was level 90. After every clear, the condition for which was to slay the boss, it would take a month before it resets. The last time a recorded team that cleared this duration was 7 months ago. After that, no one dared to clear it, as the boss was simply too strong for the hunters to handle.

“So, everyone ready?” Kenshin asked, giving a look to both Joy and Chiba, especially Chiba.

“Yes,” Chiba answered softly while Joy only nodded. They were long ready for this day, especially Chiba. She had prepared all kind of things to show her strength today. Although her level was low, she wanted to show that she was no pushover.

On the other hand, Kenshin had different thoughts. He wanted to use this dungeon to increase Chiba’s strength. She didn’t have a system like him that would allow her to level up efficiently, but if he used higher level monsters on her, she could level up faster and smoother. He had already checked this method with his sister and her friends back then when they came to visit him.

He just knew one thing, as long as the monster wasn’t of the same level as them, they would level up. Of course, depending on how many people kill it, the level up efficiency depends on it.

“Okay, Chiba, these ten days we will fully focus on your level up. Joy and I wouldn’t gain anything from here, so everything will belong to you. Be prepared to level up at breakneck speed.” Kenshin said.

“Yes. I will work hard.” Standing straight like a military cadet, Chiba shouted.

“Relax…take a deep breath.” Kenshin laughed and advised her, then walked forward inside the dungeon, followed by Joy and Chiba. As they walked, Kenshin started “I have done some research about this place. We are going to face Trolls and Ogres here. Of course, these monsters are very strong, especially their defense. There is also a chance of coming across a few who could use magic skills, so be on guard always. You must also be careful of them ganging up on you. Did you understand Chiba? During these ten raids, you must clear this dungeon.”

After going through a dark tunnel, Kenshin and the two came across an open grassland filled with lush grass and a few trees. Not far away, they could see silhouettes of a few tall monsters. Some were moving around, while some laid on the ground, probably resting. These tall creatures had brown skin tone with horns protruding from their shoulders and head. On their hands, they were holding tree trunks shaped like maces. Except for a few neckless that made out of some bones, they wore nothing else. They were all naked.

Chiba blushed bright red when she saw their junks hanging freely between their tree-like thick legs.

“These monsters really are very shameless. What are they thinking, flashing themselves like this?” Joy joked.

“Why don’t you go there and ask. While at it, lure one here.” Kenshin said, pointing at a stray that was too far from the group in the far.

“Haha!” Chiba couldn’t help but laugh while covering her mouth with her hands. Hearing her laughter, Kenshin stared at her.

That huge amount of WIS couldn’t have been achieved simply through level up. Besides that, her equipment is also mediocre. That needs to change.’ Kenshin checked out her stats as well as her strength distribution. Making a few mental notes, he decided on his next course of action to make her strong.

“W-What is it?” hearing Chiba’s bashful question, Kenshin came to his senses and saw the poor girl blushing like a ripe tomato.

“Ah..sorry. I was just inspecting your pieces of equipment, nothing else.” shaking his hands in the air. Kenshin tried to defend himself. At this time, the least he wanted to was this girl to misunderstand him as a pervert.

“Ahem* Your equipment seemed mediocre. We hunters always need good items to constantly strengthen ourselves when the level is not enough to challenge a monster. After this, we must find good equipment for you.” Kenshin said after clearing the awkward atmosphere from before.

“Yes. With the money I have, this is all I can afford.” Chiba sighed. Although hunters make money like it was flowing water, in the path of strength, the money was also spent like flowing water. To a hunter, if they want to wear an item with good options, they have to buy it form market. A ranked item would cost no less than 100k to 1 million gold coins, depending upon the rank and ability.

An average hunter whose level was below 100 would make 5000 to 10k golds per month. Although it can be considered a huge amount to common people, to hunters, it was simply not enough. Even for an E ranked item, they have to save up money for 10 or more months depending upon their income.

“Don’t worry about that, leave it to me. You just concentrate on leveling up and skill mastery. Remember, you have to clear this dungeon on your own within this 10 raids. That the target you must reach.” Kenshin waived off her worry and encourage her. Although he couldn’t give out skills from system store, items and potions were not a problem. The thing that cost millions outside were only some thousand in the system store. Finding her good equipment wasn’t a problem at all.

“Yes. I will definitely meet your expectations.” Chiba vowed seriously, more to herself than to Kenshin. She wanted to motivate herself. She wanted to become a strong hunter and protect her mother and give her a good life. She also wanted to show off in front of her first crush and make him acknowledge her strength.

More than anything, she wanted to stand together with Kenshin and Joy. Although it's only 3 days, she was having more fun than the past 3 years. She was slowly getting addicted to this feeling.

“Oi, guys. Look, I have brought one.” Joy’s shout was heard from the distance. He was currently carrying a paralyzed ogre. On its waist, a cloth was tied to keep its junk form traumatizing Chiba.

“Nice job, Joy. We don’t want our little Chiba to be traumatized by this guy.” Kenshin nodded in appreciation of Joy’s thoughtfulness.
