《Quicksword Bob》Chapter 18 - Designing a weapon

The burly man was slightly upset and passed the sword back to Bob.
"You didn't have to say it like that. Anyways if you're not going to buy anything then i'll get back to work."
Bob pushed the sword back to the burly man.
"How about we do each other a favor. I'll let you study the sword, but only while i'm here. Can't have you running off with it. In return you craft me something for free."
The burly man looked at Bob. What kind of weapon did he want, he saw all his work. Did he not want anything here?
"What kind of weapon are you trying to get me to make?"
"That's a secret, you'll need to agree to some terms first. If you make this deal with me, it'll benefit us both."
When Bob saw the man crafting he felt englitened.
He used to be a NEET so he never went to school and always stayed couped up in his room. Besides anime, manga, porn and such he was also interested in a little bit of everything. He did not know everything, but he did become fascinated with some stuff.
One thing he enjoyed looking up was different type of guns. Bob enjoyed looking at them, he himself never held one but he always wanted one. He remembered the build for a rifle he wanted.
He did not have any inkling to get a gun in this world, but Ron and his devil fruit power lit a spark in Bob. If Ron was capable of having a good gun, then he'd become a high end assassin.
Bob wasn't too sure if that's what Ron wanted, but Bob could guide him in that direction.
The burly man thought it over and nodded his head.

"Good. Give me a piece of paper and a pen, so I can write the terms of our contract."
"What for? I just agreed didn't I?'
"What's good a person's word? I need your signature! Signature!"
"Whatever!"
The man reached under his counter and pulled out a blank sheet of paper and a pen. He handed it to Bob.
Bob started writing on the paper, and came up with some terms.
It took him roughly ten minutes to come up with everything. It was very basic, just saying that the burly man couldn't disclose anything he learned, he couldn't make another one of these guns for anyone else, and that if he broke the agreement Bob was allowed to come after him.
Bob passed the paper to the man.
"Read those terms then sign."
The man didn't even read it, he just signed the paper. Seemed he really wanted to study Bob's sword.
"Are you sure you don't want to read the terms?"
"I can care less. I'm just interested in this blade not any other weapon."
"Ok you said it!"
The burly man started examining Black Death again, he even swung it a few times.
Bob looked at the contract and read the mans name.
'Tim?'
"You're names Tim?"
Bob asked him.
"Hmm… yeah. Why? This blade, whoever gave it to you must have found it in some ancient ruin or something. I can't tell without looking at it closer, but if I had to guess the material used probably came from a meteorite or something. Truly exquisite."
Tim was so absorbed in studying the sword Bob doubted he was even paying attention to him. He could probably rob this store of everything and Tim still wouldn't be paying attention.

Bob grabbed another piece of paper and began to design the gun he wanted Tim to craft him. It was the Dragunov sniper rifle. Bob did not believe the rifle would be that advanced to craft. It was developed a long time ago, so he figured everything would be fine here in the One Piece world.
The only downside to creating this type of rifle was that Bob would need to have custom mae ammo. That would be the hardest task if the rifle was complete. The bullets used in his past world and this world were different.
Bob had a rough design done of the rifle in two hours, he had to make sure he didn't forget any of the parts so he made sure to look it over three times. Once he was done he sat the paper down on the counter and looked at Tim.
"Alright Tim, I need to head out. Two hours is more than enough time to study the blade, I'll come back here tomorrow so you can study it again."
"Ah! Alright… oh what is this?"
Tim seemed reluctant to part with Black Death but still gave it back. It wasn't until the blade was out of his hand did he see what Bob drew.
"It's what I want you to craft. You don't need to assemble it, just make the parts and i'll take care of the rest. You can do one part a day if you like, and i'll come here everyday for a couple hours so you can study the sword."
"This is pretty advanced, I might not be able to make this exactly how you want it. Also what type of ammo is this?"
Bob took the time to explain the gun to Tim. That took him twenty minutes of explanation.
In the 10 years he's been here, he has not forgotten about this sniper rifle!
"If you were to sell this at the auction, you'd make a killing!"
"No thanks, I'd rather this not be in the hands of fut… wait auction?"
Bob stopped mid-sentence as he just realized Tim said there would be an auction.
"Yup, the type where a little bit of everything is sold. Famous weapons, devil fruits, armor and if you're one of those types then you might be able to have a slave."
Tim explained.
"And the marines allow this? I thought by there being a supply station here that no one would have slaves here."
"You'd be surprised man. Slavery is still a thing and the world government ignores it as they believe the revolutionary army and pirates are more dangerous. The people on this island hate the auction house, but the rich ones still attend."
Bob started rubbing his hairless chin as he started thinking.
"Don't be getting any funny ideas."
"I'm not."
Bob said.
"I'll be back tomorrow. When's the auction by the way?"
"It'll be held in two days time."
"Alright, thats more than enough time."
Bob was about to leave but then he stopped.
"Oh right, do you know of any properties for sale? Doesn't need to be in a key location with a lot of traffic, the cheaper the better."
"I know of a few places, I can show you around if you want."
Tim suggested.
"That'd be great man!"
"Just let me close up here."
