《Project Synthesis》8 - A picture in motion

[Listing all data repositories of information relevant to Technomancy]
A gigantic list was displayed before my eyes, with what I guess are the names of all the registered techniques. The names are ridiculous, who came up with those? “Deathly Hollow Mind Scythe”? “Disparaging Spacial Visage”? Jeez, i get goosebumps from these, i don’t want to have to speak them out loud.
Can you segment this a little? I don’t know, like by type or whatever you use?
[Acknowledged. Listing by element and category of use]
Immediately, the list becomes all neat and pretty, segmented in columns that indicate the element and use as Hallie said. There’s stuff from Electricity/Supportive, to Gravity/Crowd control and Psychic/Offensive. Can I use all of them?
[Practice is required for the majority of the list. To some of them, specific modules and software is required for it’s use. In case of the user, Lilith Zsofia, you are installed with ---REDACTED--- which allows you to use 187 of the 824 registered exclusive Technomancy skills]
Hey what was that redacted stuff? Sounded pretty stiff.
[Software is configured to avoid leaking private data from Dominion Corporation]
Shit. Of course, they created this AI, which even if it’s really useful, it’s also a liability. I need to find a way to remove it later.
Wait a minute…
Hallie, do you transmit to them what i think?
[Negative. Data leakage is outside of the capabilities of this model and any known models]
I was scared for a minute. I had an open radio with all my comments to those corpo suits. But, why is there no way for that? I mean, I would repulse having one installed but for them it’s quite convenient.
[Original blueprints transmitted by the Alliance did not include several settings and there has not been found a way to include important updates to the fabrication process]

Smart.
Well, where were we? With the techno magic stuff.
So, I used Eye of Dominion before right? I have no idea how i did that, but given their reaction it should be somewhat impressive. Show me all information about it
A screen was displayed in the front of my screen:
[Eye of Dominion
Tags: Psychic, Crowd control, Vision related.
Grade: V
Rating: 73/100
Description: A psychic ability that inflicts psychic pressure on those that look at the caster to the eye. The grade of pressure is related to the psychic resistance of the target.]
Alright, good to know. Even though it doesn’t say how to use it. I already heard of the grade part before and i have an idea of what it means, but what is that “rating” value?
[All skills receive ratings from users of this software among the Alliance network. To be able to rate a skill, you require to have it registered as usable. In user’s case, the only usable skill right now is Eye of Dominion]
It’s basically just a popularity value then, but it’s useful information, if it can only be rated by its users, it gives you a slightly accurate idea of its usability. Looking at Eye of Dominion’s 73 rating, I think this one is quite good. Problem is, still, how to use it.
Have anything in logs Hallie?
[Eye of Dominion is considered a hard skill to master given that it requires the user to have a strong ability to focus and direct an intention through sight. Usual method of practice is immobilize living sentient targets and use ability continuously]
I don’t have anything living here to practice, and I'd feel like the cunts from the Union and the Corporation if I just went and experimented on the first person I saw. They are sending me to a battlefront, so i’ll have enough target practice.

I take some more time reading about different skills, their effects, and trying to identify which ones I could try to learn. It’s quite surreal just having a menu of what’s basically magic and select what you want to learn. Sure kids from the start of the millenia would have had a blast.
In the end, I see a couple that look useful, and according to Hallie, are among the most basic ones that I can just learn by deploying a routine using Hallie as a proxy. Those are Discharge and Rejuvenation. The former creates an electric discharge on a close proximity, which serves as a way to escape being surrounded in close combat, and the latter is just for speeding up healing. I’ll try to focus on learning how to use those, and use that as a basis for the rest.
Also, i really shouldn’t be able to use Eye of Dominion by what i learned, the grade part of the skill description is, as i thought, a reference of difficulty to learn. Supposedly, grade V skills need around a couple of years just to understand how to use it. Guess I'm just a natural at looking pissed.
