《Of Deities and Dimensions》2. Akma

Zackery Taylor was the first one to speak during the commercial break “So that just happened.”
Coach Kamozuto said with a bewildered look on his face “Immortality. The holy grail. The dream that has been in the fore-thoughts of man since he learned of his own mortality.”
Ace said “Dude. Don’t say something so deep like that.”
The coach’s voice took on a mocking tone “Well dude, we just witnessed the most world changing event of the century. If I didn’t talk like this then I wouldn’t accentuate it to the height that it deserves.”
Ace raised one finger in the air like he was going to say some snappy retort, then put it down and shut his mouth.
Zack asked “What is this going to mean for the pro gaming community?”
Coach Kamozuto shook his head “Is that all you think about?"
"Just answer the question."
"First contacts between civilizations can be very volitile situations, but this situation the world finds itself in is uncharted territory in every sense of the word." the coach paused for a moment "As for the pro gaming community. Gamers do not have the bodies capable of becoming interdimensional soldiers. It might even grow since our world will now be coming into contact with other civilizations from other dimensions.”
Zack stood up and walked back to his computer "Well, if that's all there is to the show, I'm going back to practice."
But then a new voice spoke up “Actually Coach Kamozuto, you’re wrong. There are plenty of jobs in Akmadouric's army that require very specific skillsets.”
Everyone turned around to see a three foot tall blue person standing behind them. It took them all one second to process the sight then everyone jumped to their feet in unison.

Zack jumped away as he was the closest one to the invader “Who are you!? How did you get there!?”
Ace grabbed a chair and raised it high in the air in preparation to swing.
The blue midget had thin arms and legs. On top of his head was spiky black hair but there were a few strands of gray hair at the center of it.
He smiled, causing his silver eyes to squint “I’m Akma! A living database with a personality and everyones personal guide to the multiverse.”
Zack was done being shocked for the evening “Of all the places you could have appeared, why here?”
Akma cheerily said “I don’t have a body made of flesh, what you see is merely a thought projection. Right now, everyone in the world is talking to an Akma just like me.”
Ace put down the chair since it would only hit the air if he had swung at the intruder with it “Why are you so annoying?”
Zack snickered “Ease off. You know for a fact that they are going to make a plushy out of this little guy.”
Ace shook his head and said blandly “So let me get this straight. We each have individual Akmas and you’re never going to leave us alone.”
Akma jumped into the air “Correct! Unless you choose never to summon me or if Akmadouric doesn’t talk through me.” He grabbed the white strands of his hair “If father chooses to do so, then my hair will turn more white.”
Zack cocked his head to the side “More white? As in there are increments? Shall we call you Akmad, Akmado or Akmadour when that happens?”
The blue child blinked and let out a small chuckle “Yes there are increments according to how much attention the great deity is paying to you but no you may not call me those names!” He raised a fist at Zack that was more comical than threatening.

Coach Kamozuto spoke up “Well nobody here has any interest in dying in some interdimensional war. Go recruit some musclehead jock out of the military.”
Akma said “There are two things wrong with that statement. Firstly, nobody dies in these wars because people are given a second body when they join. Secondly, the people in this room are among the greatest multi-taskers on the planet. Making you all a perfect fit for some very specialized classes.” the short blue child grinned and then a vortex appeared behind him. He jumped and his body twisted with the swirls until him and the vortex disappeared completely.
Zack said blandly “So that just happened.”

The Villainess Always Dies (I'm screwed!)
==Currently being rewritten== Thank you commenters for all the advice you've given. I decided to go back and rewrite and add several chunks to the first half of the story before starting the school arc. :) Update: Chapters 1-4 are edited. There will be an additional arc added later.... Not quite sure how that's going to work out with what's already there but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I'll get revenge on my own terms! After experiencing near-death from the plague, Lucina Maelle remembers her previous life as a teenage girl with a heart condition. That girl's favorite video game? Dragon Fantasy XXIV. And who is the wicked villainess from that game, who suffers a horrific death at the hands of the hero? She is! With that knowledge in mind, the solution is simple-- just don't become a villainess. Easier said than done, for even the gods protest her desire for a virtuous life. No matter how Lucina attempts to thwart her future, to ensure justice is achieved, she must go down the path of villainy. Thus, the only solution is to become the ultimate villainess! First, find Valerian, her favorite character who is voiced by her favorite voice actor. He's a part of the hero's party but so long as she meets him first, she knows she can turn him over to her side! Second, become so strong that the hero's party has no chance of defeating her. Third, await the events of the game to begin and spit in the face of gods and fate!Updates Tuesday and Saturday

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
