《Evolution (Rewrite)》Chapter 050 the most powerful survivor (6)

While Ann’s skills were powerful, she had to drink many MP potions to keep using her powers for such a long time. Even though those potions were quite tasty, she was sick of it because she drunk more than thirty of those bottles. In her eyes, I was just a worm; her pride had been damaged beyond repair by a single worm. Because of it, her rage blinded her judgment. She sacrificed eighty percent of the survivors under her control without a care in the world.
The smell of burned flesh, the metallic smell of blood and the dirty made her feel even more pissed. However, she composed herself after killing the two monsters and breaking her limit once again. Hundreds of bodies were around her, most of those bodies had some parts missing, but she didn’t care. In her mind, she could always find new minions and new guards to control. She even had already planned her next actions; first, she would make me regret being born in this world, and then she would decimate all the survivors on the other survivor’s camp. After that, she would cross the country and make all the survivors her minions. Anyone who tries to disobey her would die on the spot.
“Where is he?” Ann asked while putting her right hand on her right ear.
It seemed that she had to do that to communicate with Karl I made a mental note about it while I was approaching. I was smelling of sweat a little bit, but because of the smell of death, they didn’t notice me, even when I was half a meter away from them.
“Damn it,” Ann said after kicking the ground. “Tell me exactly when he appears on the map.”
I couldn’t hear Karl’s voice, but I already knew what he had said to her, the invisibility made me disappear even from the map. So he would only find me when I attack again, and that would happen very soon.
Something was wrong with me, since those two colossal appeared, all my tension and fears disappeared. I observed the monsters killing the survivors without even blinking; in my eyes, they were just ants being destroyed by a step of an elephant. And now I was walking invisible near them, ready to strike and kill their leader, but, I wasn’t nervous, nor was I afraid of the failure. I just decided to do it and moved.
Maybe it was because I had recognized the fact that I was a monster, a real monster in human form who sacrificed hundreds to live. In any case, my heart wasn’t even beating faster; I approached Ann like killing her would be the same as killing another monster. I didn’t feel uncertainty; I didn’t feel the disgust that I usually felt when I was about to take a life; I didn’t feel the hesitation on my footsteps… I felt nothing.
I summoned the spiritual knife, but when I saw her information, I decided to create another one.
Survivor Ann – HP: 1605/1605 MP: 1521/3200 STA: 1421/1605
Physical limit Lv 25, Mental limit Lv 30, Sensorial limit 01.
Skill: Sleep Lv 07, Shockwave Lv 06, Goddess of Illusions Lv 08, Vitality Shield Lv 05, Frost Bite Lv 03, Fire Rain Lv 03.
‘Vitality shield is her only defensive skill, and since she didn’t activate until now, this skill will probably activate by itself once I attack. In that case, I will attack twice.’

Her bodyguards were around her, but since they were big and their weapons had a long reach, they didn’t were close to each other. So, I passed by them using the gaps between them, and I stood behind Ann with the two spiritual knives pointed at her neck. Without wasting time, I tried to attack her neck with the knife on my left hand, and just like I had expected a light green shield blocked my attack before I could pierce the skin. The spiritual knife disappeared, but I used the other to hit Ann’s jugular vein. The shield didn’t appear, and I didn’t feel much resistance, but, even after using all my strength, I didn’t manage to hit her vocal cords as I had planned. Ann trembled and fell on the ground while I picked the vampire hunter’s crossbow and jumped backward.
‘That skill can’t be activated repeatedly, as I had expected. But even though the spiritual knife can ignore the target’s defense, she has too much HP.’
Ann looked at me like she was looking at the grim reaper. The wound wasn’t big, but since I hit her jugular vein, she was bleeding a lot. She almost died, no. She knew that she still could die because of the bleeding and that terrified her. For the first time, she recognized me as a threat; I could see that in her eyes. Before she could give the order, I disappeared once again. While she tried to stop the bleeding with her bare hands, she crawled away from that place. Almost all her bodyguards attempted to attack the spot where I had been before, but I wasn't there anymore. One of her bodyguards approached her and put some medicine on her mouth.
Mystical Potion: It can heal almost any wound, but it can't heal a damaged heart or brain. It can recover 75% of the user HP, MP, and STA.
It wasn’t a specialized medicine, but it could heal almost any injury, it probably cost a lot. Not only that, perhaps all her bodyguards had at least one of those. Ann probably had one too and that complicated things a little bit, but that was also an opportunity. While Ann and her bodyguards tried to attack her surroundings, I got away from them, and I approached the bodies of the guards that I killed. Just like I had imagined, each one of them had one those medicines, and I found three — on the last one I didn’t find anything because I had exploded most of his body.
I casually drunk one of those medicines to recover my MP and STA, they were too valuable to use it on a whim, but they would be useless if I die anyway. When I returned, I saw the guards and her minions forming two circles around Ann. She was literally using them as meat shields; it seemed that my attack caused her some mental damage. But that only made things easier for me, I put the vampire hunter’s crossbow on my left hand and on the right hand, I equipped the metal crossbow, and without ceremony, I used both.

In just two seconds, fifteen of her minions died. When she and the others finally saw my shadow, I disappeared again. Her minions tried to attack me with their ranged skills, but their skills were too slow, and their aim was terrible, after all, most of them preferred to use firearms.

Ann used her fire rain, but although that skill was powerful and could kill many monsters very fast, the fireballs didn’t instantly fell on the ground, they could only appear at a certain height above the ground, and it took two seconds two finally hit the ground, all skills had its weakness. The frostbite wasn’t different, while the cold wind could kill a person in a few seconds, the wind itself wasn’t that strong. Anyone fast enough could escape from the effective range before dying. The other skills also had some weakness, but I didn’t have to worry about it. She was so scared to use it or think logically; she only wanted to kill me as fast as possible.
I walked around that group using my invisibility to analyze their formation. Because they were like mindless zombies, they did a pretty good job in keeping their attention in all directions. But because they were mindless zombies, they didn’t follow their instincts or noticed small details; they didn’t see me grabbing a stone and making it disappear from the middle of the street. I used all my strength to throw that stone to the other side of their formation, the stone fell on the ground and every single one them attacked, even Ann.
‘What a bunch of idiots.’
You killed a survivor; You have obtained his 101 Evolution Coins.
You killed a survivor; You have obtained his 320 Evolution Coins.
You killed a survivor; You have obtained his 55 Evolution Coins.
…
Using that cheap trick, I earned the time to kill thirty of them before they could notice the trap. When they looked back, once again, they saw me disappearing. The minions didn’t seem afraid, even after seeing hundreds of their comrades dying. Instead, they only felt pissed because I was trying to kill their fake goddess. Because of her, they even lost their instinct of self-preservation. It was truly pitiful when I noticed that, it became evident that they wouldn’t return to normal even if Ann dies. At least I could put them out of their misery.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have many chances of fooling them. After my third attack, Ann had only ninety minions left. So, she decided to retreat.
‘Showing their backs to the enemy… what a great idea.’
They were ten kilometers away from their base, and Ann was dreaming if she thought that I would let them escape like that. Ann made her minions pick everything they found on the way to protect themselves, thanks to it; I didn’t manage to diminish their numbers as much as I wanted. But I wasn’t in a hurry, I still could recover my MP with that medicine, and I still had a good amount of ammo inside my backpack.
I didn’t know if Ann finally began to use her head again, or just Karl gave the order, but her jeeps appeared after they began to retreat. And the drivers also brought a lot of firearms with them. Two of those vehicles passed by them to give support while they retreat, meanwhile, Ann and her bodyguards entered in the two other jeeps to withdraw, but that also hadn’t been a good idea.
‘So troublesome.’
I activated the cape’s effect before these two jeeps could begin to fire, and then I reappeared inside a dark alley after pulling the trigger of the metal crossbow. No one noticed me there because one of the jeep’s exploded and the other got heavily damaged.
‘As I expected they also use MP on those vehicles.’
Ten of Ann’s minions died because of that explosion, but that was just to buy some time. I activated the cape again and began to run toward the two jeeps which were running away at high speed.
After only two minutes, I caught up with them. Those jeeps weren’t fast, and I was way faster than an average human. It was hard to say, but using all my strength, I could run at fifty miles per hour. However, I could only maintain that speed for a few minutes, and while running at that speed, I made a lot of noise. Luckily, the jeeps made even more noise. So, Ann didn’t notice when I ran past them. I only stopped when I was two hundred meters away from them, I aimed at the jeep Ann was, and I pulled the trigger.
Immediately she saw me and pointed her right hand at me; she didn’t use her fire or snow; she used something else. Something that I couldn’t see, I rolled to the side to evade that invisible attack, but I still felt something hitting my right leg and snapping it. But at the same time, Ann’s jeep exploded. The annoying pain in my right leg didn’t stop me from getting up and seeing Ann and her guards being tossed around like leaves because of the explosion. The driver of the other car lost control of the vehicle because of that explosion, and then I saw the jeep hitting the walls of a police station. None of them were using seat belts and thanks to it, they also got smashed against the walls. But they increased their physical limits many times, and that wouldn’t be enough to kill them.
Slowly I approached the second car, I was limping, so it couldn’t be helped. But I didn’t have to worry, they received a lot of damage, and they were staggering on their feet. So, I used the vampire hunter’s crossbow to finish the bodyguards on the second jeep.

…
After that, I heard something strange, the sound of a huge mass crossing the air at high speed. I tried to evade again, but I got hit on my left arm, and just like my leg, it snapped.
‘It is probably her skill… shockwave…’
I turned around, and I saw Ann again pointing her right hand at me. She was on her knees, and her head was bleeding, and her remaining four bodyguards were slowly getting up too. I could see some fighting spirit in her eyes. That battle wasn’t over yet, but at least, it seemed that she couldn't put me to sleep. It was probably because she had to calm her nerves to sing correctly. That was the weakness of that skill.

Winter Fire [ Book 1 ] ✔
On the second jump, Claire's bad leg gave way and she felt herself tumbling forward. A cry of surprise escaped her and Claire was certain she was about to topple off the side of the train. Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction. "Thank you.""You need to be more careful," he continued, his eyes locked on hers, bright and haunting in the silver glow of the moon overhead."I will," Claire assured him, her heart skipping in her chest.
