Chapter 10: Origin of a Guardian [Part 1]

His highness the crown prince, guides us to the palace’s tower after we finished our meals. When I say us I mean me, Van, and the three humans. Queen Ivory went to the town with the palace’s Intel to survey of its condition. While the Queen Dowager Manora is helping with the kingdom management with few others nobles. So, both of them could not join us, sigh they are such a busy people.

Anyway, since the palace’s tower was far away from the castle, we rode horses to there.

Along the way to there, I took the chances to ask a few question to the humans. Since I was a human, I am curious about the human in this world. [Are there fellow gamers and otaku?] Is what I wanted to ask but I refrain from doing so.

Unlike the talkative Romeo, Simon is taciturn and quiet. He only speaks when asked while Romeo will answer everything I ask but will also add some non-essential info. But there has been someone that has a shadow-like presence. He is there but somehow, people ignore him like it was something natural. It was none other than the other two human’s bodyguard, Eremes.

Knowing is essential for life, so I inquire information from him. Turns out, Eremes is a real knight. He works for the Volcan’s crown prince as his personal knight. But the two are his friends since childhood, so he offers himself to be their bodyguard because there wasn’t anyone even in the mercenary guild accept the mission to escort them to the Asmodios Kingdom.

This is caused by the world-wide rumor of the war that happens between the pure blood and the UNION.

Though the majorities of the human aren't supporting the UNION, they too aren’t those type to provoke UNION for fun. The UNION has one mission that known by all human since the kingdom of human was developed, it was to gain control of the world.

Well, I am not surprised at all, like come on I’m not an otaku for nothing. As matter of fact, everyone is after all born with greed in their soul. Whether you are greedy for good or bad, it depends on you and there are some that were born as extremist, like the UNION. After all, everyone does desire something in their heart. Greed is simply the intense desire for more and I remember that in my past life, sometimes even I always crave to do extreme stuff like; stuffed my mouth with an extreme proportion of food or more anime episodes.

Just the right time when we finished our conversation, Prince Sulvian indicates that we have arrived. All of us dismounted the horse and tied it to the nearest tree.

As we get closer, I notice how the tower seems to has been abandoned for a long time, with dust, mold and trees vine circulate around it. The building was purposely made as huge and tall, with only one wooden door. There wasn’t any special feature at the exterior only that the tower has two knobs on its door and the stairs are visible from the outer side. On top of the tower, there is a huge golden bell.

One door has golden colors knob while the other one has plain gray color but has a snake symbol on it. His highness uses both his hand to turn the two knob. The golden colors turn to the left side while the snake-symbol knob turns to the right side. Simultaneously, a *clack* sound was heard.

*creek* The door was wide open and then we saw two stairs. One is spiral stairs heading to the top of the tower while the other one heading the underground. We choose to climb up the stairs, I was carried by Van again but this time I sat on his head, oh his hair is so soft, as expected of the silky white hair.

There wasn’t any particular reason for me to do it but the crown prince especially suggests that when going to the palace’s tower, one must expose themselves to nature and in exchange for doing so, they will be blessed before entering the forbidden area.

The tower was named after their first queen, Yulia Light. When I ask for what reason they made such tower using her name. Both Van and the crown prince went silent for a long time before replying.

They start to mention something about I was their first guardian since the last 100 years ago and odd thing that doesn’t explain anything.

「Yulia Light, other than she was our first queen. She is also our first guardian that related to our goddess, Ruvia Light and we bring you here to send you to … them.」

Say what??

「We have arrived. 」

While I’m still confused about what his highness the prince said, Van mentions that we have arrived at the top of the tower. The golden bell is visible at the center, strangely there wasn’t anything like a rope that sticks the golden bell to the tower. It is floating mid-air, yup using my power of common sense that is a treasure alright.

Later on, the prince chants something that I couldn’t understand. Van explains in brief that it was their ancient language. Simultaneously after the chants stop, the bell rings itself.

ごーん!*gong* *doong* *dong* *gwoong*

*whoosh*

A door abruptly appears out of nowhere in front us, before I could understand the situation, Van put me down on the floor. Then, Prince Sulvian opens the door wide and blank dark spaces is shown.

「Rass-sama, please enter this room.」

What room? There is no ro---

Just when I about to ask them, someone pushed me into the door with a light tap.

“T---”

What was that… I heard a sound. Am I floating in the space right now? It seems like it, there is no floor or ceiling to define the direction of up, down, left and right. The place is all dark.

DAMN IT! What was that all about, is this how you treat your guardian?! I don’t understand a single thing at all and they didn’t explain any. Those brutes, I almost fell down don’t you think that’s losing face for your guardian? Falling down from a small tap, sheesh.

“Th…”

This place is entirely black space. I don’t see anything except my body floating in the mid air.

Just then, I feel like I have been sucked into a vacuum.

“Three hundred thousand years ago. Asmodios was known as the holy land of pureblood.”

[Hnnngh… Ugh, what the heck just happened.]

“Since the beginning of the age of purebloods, humans has felt threatened by their presence. The world never tastes the sweetness of peace ever since then, they could only long for it to appear again for their whole lifetime in the world.”

[While hearing the solemn voice of gloominess of a woman inside my mind, there was like a 3D cinema in front of me. Dracula with vampires and Humans with the other races are fighting among themselves in a large scale war.]

“The human was the majorities of the world population but the purebloods was the first to rules over the other races. Because of envy of their power, greed for more, fear the potential for being ruled over by the pureblood.

The humanity starts to agitate the pureblood and made a pact with the other races so that they could fight against the purebloods. They attacked Asmodios kingdom without warnings during the day since they know that the sunlight is after all the purebloods main weakness.”

The voice explains the situation as the humans and the purebloods war but there were some other races that join hand with the humans. Mainly was elves and ogres. On the opposite side, the pureblood has undeads summoned by their necromancers. As the humans advanced forward to attack the pureblood empire.

Obviously, one must protect their holy land till the end of their life. Even at dire state, they still fight with their all. Asmodios sent their soldiers to the war field, they defend their kingdom earnestly. The vampires and draculas defend on the kingdom’s wall while constantly sent some of their troops to join with the vanguard.

“The purebloods are stronger than the humans, yet due to their innate weakness of the sunlight weakens them allowing the humans to take the advantage of the war. However, once the night arrives the human must retreat because that is when the true power of the Draculas can be brought forth. At night, because of the full moon shine brightly, the Draculas and Vampires able to heal their wounds from the earlier fight.”

Due to this constant retreats by the humans and ongoing efforts by the purebloods, this became a thousand years war with no end in sight.

“Humanity were great in numbers but the purebloods were not losing in the battle. They fought furiously while displaying their elegance in the fight. Magician, necromancers, witches, sword masters, there wasn’t anyone that did not contribute in the war. They proved that number wasn’t everything inside a battle.”

It was exactly like a historical movie just more realistic and without mosaic. People fighting here and there, blood gushing out and people trampled on others corpse no matter it was a companion or enemies. The tension could be felt in the air, seeing the war close up wasn’t something to laugh at since it wasn’t like a movie that ‘we know it just a fiction’.

[Yet, even though I watch the war with seriousness, in my mind I wonder if in this world has a cinema too…]

Afterward, just when the humans were about to lose, a hero was born in the human kingdom. The war that raged on for a thousand years was about to end due to a genius commander who was strong as million men, wiser than any sage, more cunning than any conman. The commander was a secret weapon of the human; if the pureblood had known about him then he wouldn’t have able to survive through puberty and appeared in the war.

The commander with his ingenious tactics let the pureblood to be clueless while his actual strength made them speechless. He appeared in the battlefield wearing a white armor with golden lining that had engraved carvings and his appearance on the battlefield changed the whole momentum of the fight. With their new profound strength the humans once again rushed into the fight, slaughtering the Asmodios’s soldier.

“The moment human’s legendary warrior appeared, the tide of the war sided with the humanity.”

「RAGGGHHHHHH!!! 」

Simultaneously while the woman's voice explains, the legendary warrior roars soaring through the whole continent and agitates the humans into berserk-mode.
