《The Sudden Rise of the Magic Continent》Chapter 2: Terra's Visit and Magic

Soon after leading Aki out of the room. Everyone can hear a loud rumbling in the distance, and what seems to be a large moving statue made of dirt and stone is taking long but strides towards the forest. As soon as the large mass appeared in view of everyone in the forest, they all came out and bowed in front of where it was going to stop.
"Is that Terra?" I said after I got to my knees, following everyone else's example
"Yes, Aki, there is no creature similar to Terra like this other than his followers. Even the elementals of Terra's domain are drastically different," Alberic replies to my question.
"Then how are the elementals different? How is Terra different?" I ask again, still confused, but soon after I asked that a loud voice answered me.
"My elementals are still life and blood; they are covered in armour created by the earth. I myself am made of earth and a crystal of life that my creator bestowed upon me."
"Terra? You talk?" I ask in disbelief
"Yes, blessed child. All of you may rise." As soon as he said that, everyone stood, so I did the same, still following everyone's example.
"Blessed child, May I ask your name?" Terra asked, looking straight at me with those dark crystal eyes of his.
"Oh, my name is Aki" Terra looked deep in thought when I said that... Or at least I think he did because he paused for a second.
"I see. Should you need any aid come to me, but I'm afraid I can't do anything for your memories."
"My memories? How did you know I couldn't remember much?"
"You will know in time. Just know it's related to your blessed kin." Terra looked away after he answered me and then looked at Alberic.

"Now for the reason I came here as I can't stay for long. The shore will be dangerous for a while as the humans have learned of Gloranela. A few days ago, humans attempted to learn more about it with their metallic flying creatures. Please do your best not to come to the shore as my creator had warned me of this before she left. Now please excuse me as I warn the others of the region. You all are not the only ones here." When he said that, Terra started walking away without waiting for a response.
It took a while for Alberic to move as he was still slightly shocked from having Terra talk to him personally, and then he started guiding everyone back into the forest.
"Aki, wait here. I'll come back after everyone is settled," He said while leading everyone back.
What's this about... Shouldn't I be in the town as well? I think to myself as Alberic leaves.
A couple of minutes later, he returned and led me to a wooden log dug into the ground and standing upright.
"What's this?" I ask, staring at the strange sight
"You'll need to go find the other Orunians. This is what Terra was talking about your "blessed kin". The guardians call the Orunians "Blessed" as they have the capabilities of using all Magic Energy types even if it takes a while to learn it." Alberic then points at the wooden log. "This is so you can practice the feel of using magic, so you have the power to walk around without a group. After you learn that find a Monkeen to teach you hand to hand combat."
"Why do I need so much? Shouldn't it be safe? Everyone here is so nice, so wouldn't everyone else be as well?" I ask Alberic, getting slightly scared while wondering why I need to learn so much that means I'll have to fight

"This land isn't as peaceful as you believe. The only reason you haven't seen anything dangerous is that the separated clans of the Elves and Monkeen are protecting the forest's borders. We are safe because we are in the first village of the Elves."
"What is there outside of the village?"
"Mana amalgamations of the animals you see appear every once in a while. They are far more common in places where magic energy isn't stable, usually where not many people live. You will find a lot on your journey, and they are vicious and dangerous. You need to be prepared."
"I see... So what do I do then?"
"You're an Orunian, so you should have some starter abilities. Think about what you can do, and you should be able to feel your abilities and how to trigger them," Alberic says, and suddenly a strong wind surrounded him. "This ability is an example of doing so. It's called WindShield, Don't try touching it, though, because it will cut you up. Now try to use an ability" After saying that, he deactivated the ability and looked at me.
I tried focusing inside myself, hoping to feel my abilities, and my status screen appeared in front of me.
-Minor gust I: You can use the ability "Blow".
Use it?
Yes No
I see this and tap "Yes", and a slightly strong wind blew out from my fingertip for a few seconds.
"You did that far faster than I expected. Good job, Aki," Alberic said, praising me. "Doesn't seem strong enough for battle, but you can train that and find a way to make it useful."
"That was really cool!!" I yell in excitement, "I want to learn more!!"
"I can't teach you more than that because every race uses magic differently, and the Orunians are different amongst each other. You should try out many different ways of using the magic energy and abilities as you feel out what you believe is best, but one thing you can most certainly learn is how to use a weapon from the Monkeen."
"Let's go take you to them now."

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
