《Ultra: The School for Young Assassins》Sabine, Lost
Advertisement
Lost. She's lost. In the dense cold woods. Mist floating amid the tree trunks. It's morning. The sun rises, a cold dazzle. She's wet. Running. Breathing hard in through the nostrils, out through the mouth. Stops. Gasping. Holds her body against the rough bark of a Douglas fir. A brief thin shadow. Gliding. She glances up. It's a parachute. It floats down, disappears behind the treetops. She shuts her eyes to see the afterimage. A man in probably water resistant dark clothing. Some bulkiness -- that would be the weapons. A rifle probably, pistol, grenades. None of which she was. She lost her weapon scurrying away just after the hit. If one parachutist, then there will be others. She didn't hear a plane, but maybe it's too high up. Or maybe they're using gliders. Sabine kneels down in the deep shade of the fir. Retches. Her body shakes. She sticks her hands under her arms to warm them. Fixes her gaze on a nearby patch of mushrooms growing out of a dead oak stump. She notes the pinkish color at the gulls and wonders if she can take the risk. Her stomach is tight and empty and she's dizzy with hunger. Decides not. She's in a leather jacket, two black wool sweaters, black pants, black assassin's shoes. The sweat on her neck feels icy. And her teeth are clicking when she doesn't set her jaw. She's had to wade a surging river. Almost wrenched away from her hold on the rocks, over which white water foamed. She's been moving fast since yesterday afternoon, and her hands and face are scratched up by twigs and brambles. She's rubbed mud on the welts to seal them. She didn't want to leave a trail of blood drops. When she can feel some sensation in her fingers again, she takes them out from under her arms. Shakes them hard. They're trembling. Gloves. Why didn't I carry an extra pair? She touches the hilt of the combat knife taped to her skinny ankle. It's her only friend now. There are some matches inside the handle, also a small compass. But last night, she didn't make a fire. They're too close, too tight and disciplined, too well armed -- the pursuers. How many? She doesn't know. Getting away from the hit -- she'd assumed that would be the hardest part. It wasn't. The hardest part was now. In the Oregon forests, tracked by stealthy and brutal killers.

Child of the Ancients: An Apocalypse LitRPG
It all started in the middle of Dante's nap. He wanted to sleep his life away, but the system denied his request. Instead, it began to transform the Earth, integrating it into the multiverse by granting everyone stats and skills. He was talented, or so the system thought. And that meant he needed to be challenged. After being sent into a deadly cavern, Dante strives for the future he's always desired. But when he learns about the secrets hidden within him, he's shaken to his very core. He wishes for the nightmare to end until something goes wrong. [The world will end in one year.] Instead of everyone receiving a relatively gentle tutorial, the people of Earth are deemed redundant. Dante makes it his goal to save as many people as he can before the world ends, but with billions of lives at stake, he might have to turn into a monster before he can become a hero. Planned updates (2500+ words): M/W/F. 12pm AEST/ 9am EST. M-F during Writeathon. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: All system apocalypse novels seem to jump straight over the apocalypse itself, which I find very sad. I don't want this to turn into a typical fantasy novel in about ten chapters. Instead, I hope to explore the destruction of society and how things would look if superpowers suddenly appeared in the real world. Before the real apocalypse happens, of course. There will be base building, and likely romance once things settle down. Also dragons, because they are awesome :)

World with Mana
Eric King's day starts with a headache and ends with him getting attacked by zombies. Not a great day at all. All this occurs because suddenly mana enters the world and forces itself on and into everything completely changing the world. People now have classes and can use magic, they see their own status, and a variety of creatures enter your world with a variety of different motives. To top it off a group might want his death for nothing other than his class. Note: I am not a great writer so expect to read subpaar writing, with an unoriginal story that I might not write for long. I am simply writing this to see if I enjoy writing stories like this and to test it as a hobby. The cover art is not mine, I found it online, if the owner does not want me to use this picture then I will take the picture down.

The Interstellar Artship
Hello? Traveler? Hi. My name is Silas. I’m the Chronicler around here. Might I entreat you to stay with us a while? We are a meager fleet of artships, eking our way across the charred and shrewd universe. Please, join us around the table and tell us your story. Our lives depend on it. I’m sure you know this world proves demanding, strange, and lonely. But here we go together, a caravan fleet of spacefarers, challenging the starry frontier, investigating the strangeness. Our warp-drives run on inspiration—a volatile fuel collected from the active minds of the artists, writers, and musicians among us. But the clock runs out—the Heartless in their scarships seek to destroy all that is beautiful, systematically deconstructing all creativity in order to fuel their weapons and feed their evil powers. We’ve all been hurt by those hateful devourers. We’ve all lost loved ones. But no more. No more, I say! Together we unite and make our arduous journey to the dreadful Shattered Suns—the home of our enemy. Once and for all the question shall be answered—the path to life shall show itself. **** If you would like to read the Artifacts which Silas and the Sojournor crew restore, visit our patreon page.
