The Church of Dotera has held more power than any other surviving nation upon the Great continent. By far, after the end of the last Dark war, it seemed no other bastion of humanity was left beyond the odd city-state in decline along the coasts and Islands to the far South. For those people unfortunate enough to still persist between such locations, the recorded era of struggle and toil has yet to reach a definitive end.
Beside the great lost expanse of the Blackened lands that holds to the center and western-most region of the continent, the banner of Dotera came to be through the strength of Faith and dedication. The Heroes of legend: Those Great Saints of the Church, who held the borders during the trials of death and suffering upon the blessings of the light. Blade, Blessings, and Shields- each hero passing their sacred knowledge to the people who followed them. By this it was written to the histories, and so it came to be known by any of the doctrine.
But like any great nation in the word's history, Dotera did not (and does not) lack for problems of a lesser sort. For pure and simple truth, there were and are the standing armies posted and maintained to defend in the northern borders by the bad-lands. There was the prior issue of maleficent and vile spawns drifting in upon the drafted currents of the ocean itself to the East, as well as occasional circumstances of bandits by land and pirates by sea- but there have also been smaller things. Issues and conflicts of the sort a single squadron of Holy Knights might put to rest in a single week's time, if only they could be spared from their other duties.
To the villages upon the Western territory of the Church, known only by the regional dialect as the lands of "Red Stone," villages find themselves sparse and separated from the powers that be. Alienated by distance, by ignorance and even the land itself, the hills and fields mingling along one single artery of a road perhaps decades past the the point of ill-repair, the people of Dotera must find their own solutions to problems that beset them.

Of all that can be spoken of, what can be seen as a greater problem for such villages than Goblins?
For those without the weapons, the strength or the magics, to fight such violent scourge: How do the people of Red Stone come to cope when full villages to the North have crumbled beneath such threats?
Welsh Lanor, Second Scribe of the Southern-Most Church, disciple of the Fifth High Priest of Dotera had long since set out with the intent on finding a true and respectable answer to such a question. Drawn, stamped and sealed by the issuer of Faith and Knowledge, his task was simple: Collect information and expertise of these villages, and craft his findings for distribution. A informational leaflet for the sake of those to the North and East to be posted among the church's libraries. A just and righteous task, for other areas of Dotera were finding themselves under similar circumstances- yet lacking the crucial know-how to deal with such passive of threats.
For miles down the High-road of Compass marking, he did travel down towards the first of many villages. Cart, horse, ink and page- interviews and spoken word collected from the sources: For those that came first (of the largest village variety in such farming regions of rolling hills and grassland) all did point further south still with the rough and joyous praise of the Keeper's Point; a settlement whose history presides itself as a great survivor of Goblin raids.
Many voices even passed on the unkempt but persistent rumors of a Rogue travelling Wizard that had nestled its benign demonic keep within such a place, assisting the people with all manner of tasks and ailments. Tales of the strange rogue's deeds passed through lips to say the impossible- quite and truly shameless in their exaggerations (though recognized and forgiven as ignorance) that the man had slain untold manner of Goblins, and owned a wand of metal and fire.
Emboldened by such a find, and determined to dig out the gems of true knowledge which lay beneath, Welsh set out at once with the great watching Eye of sun upon his left shoulder. Southbound the cart and horse did manage, and for each stop, another page- of rumors, truths, and potential falsehood were refined and emboldened by ink upon the paper.

Five months of collection, returning only barely before the first snows of winter to the Southern-Most Church, the following pamphlet marks his understanding and discoveries of the Red Stone peoples of Dotera's Province.
Goblins: Prevention and Control
Goblins: Well known pests in youth, yet raging beasts in adult life that rival the strength of a trained warrior. These creatures gather under a banner of tribe-like mentality. Dispersed as they are upon sight and reports to the Holy Knights that march the Southern Territories, it has been said that such creatures can breed at rates similar to hounds, yet at a similar time possess lifespans on par with those of man.
For tactics of a small number, it is recommended that a large hunting party be formed and their scents traced with no small exception. Bows and ranged weapons should taken Goblins quietly while they are unaware, for they are known to flee from battles they perceive victory might not be obtained. If a Goblin is to escape such required treatment, the potential for it to grow in solitude and become a greater threat through experience increases exponentially. Many such Goblins have been known to establish territory after ousting previous Goblin tribe leaders- dramatically shifting tribe behavior from passive to aggressive.
In the case of a large Goblin tribe, borders and tensions upon the neighboring area will undoubtedly become heightened. Goblins are known to capture and rape women for the sake of breeding young, and will strike small settlement without mercy should the chance arise. All keeps of personal nature in such territories are recommended to possess thick walls, and metal bolted doors. As Goblins prefer the cover of night for raids, and despise fire- such combinations will often be enough to keep them at bay until true plans can be crafted.
If one is to find themselves without thick walls, it is recommended that entrenching be crafted. Should one desire to deal with the threat in immediacy: Sharpened stakes, torches and a defend-able territory presented near Goblin controlled space will likely encourage their number to attack- drawing the creatures into a potential ambush.
If numbers are scouted for such Goblin gatherings to number above fifty, it is strongly recommended that a Battle-Mage be summoned from the High-Church, as well as a full pardon and pass granted to request with immediate hope of acquisition for a full company of Holy Nights.

The following is listed As an additional note of relevance, taken from a trusted source of respected skill and recognition among the people of southern Dotera:
Ignorance of the author at this time provides no insight to the following quote, though it was insisted upon as the main method for previous success against the recent attacking Goblin tribe- and therefore recorded, word for word, as such.
"If no such resources of the church can find themselves available, a Remington rifle with a large stock of .308 caliber ammunition is recommended. If Ammunition is found to be lacking, a metal trench shovel and a high vantage point with space for a repeated overhead is a close second."
- Expert testimony of the legendary and eccentric battle-mage known to the Southern Territories.

The Blackgloom Bounty
In the dark days before the end of the first millennium, Scotland (or Scotia as some called it) was a leaderless hodgepodge of tribes, clans and warring factions all bent on the same thing--domination of the land. Wizards, sorcerers and magicians still plied their trade, though much of their power had given way to the machinations of men and their war machines. To the south of Scotia lay the realm of the Saxons ruled by Ethelred the Unready and his ruthless minions. To the west, Ireland had just come of age. Everywhere else the constant threat of a lightning swift Viking incursion loomed over the land.Growing up in this lawless world is a displaced Daynin McKinnon, heir to an ancient familial keep on the island of Rhum. He and his grandfather Ean scratch out a living amongst the Saxons, careful never to divulge their clan heritage. That all changes when Kruzurk Makshare chooses Daynin as the ideal prospect to help him bring down a vile sorcerer named The Seed of Cerberus, ferreted away in his impregnable fortress at Blackgloom. Little does Kruzurk know that in so doing, he will launch young Daynin, himself and others on a vast, dangerous quest that no one could have foreseen. *****One Hollywood producer has dubbed this three book fantasy epic from Jon Baxley as, "BRAVEHEART meets THE LORD OF THE RINGS." Real places, people and events flesh out this fast moving, multi-faceted semi-historical series but fear not fantasy readers. There's more than enough of the magical, mystical mayhem you have come to expect from great fantasy. Romance readers, too, will enjoy the 'spice' in these characters--and there are a lot of them--both human and otherwise. And if you're into Viking lore, this series certainly is for you. When someone asks the author about his series, he answers with, “There were far more surprises in this tale than I ever expected and it's not over yet!
