《I'm a hero? Nope, familiar》Chapter 1. Wait, What?

Do you ever wonder how or why people are summoned, or if it really happens or if it is just a fantasy only scenario? Well I didn't....
Ok maybe I have when I was in eighth grade *cough* the cringe... ITS STRONG *cough*
Wow, I had something caught in my throat, sorry about that.
Anyways back to what I was trying to say. Do you believe in other worlds? Things like magic, monsters, and everything in between?
I certainly didn't, after my *ahem* , junior high years, I stopped thinking about such ridiculous things. Well as it turns out, they are real.
Dropped a bombshell on you didn't I? As amusing as it is I'm going to ignore the shocked look on your face and tell you how I came to learn this information.
I used to be a normal person.
I would go to school, after I finish get a job I probly hate, find someone I fall in love with, have kids, watch them grow up, then die.
That is how my life probably would have went. How it should have went.
I digress, you most likely didn't come here to listen to me complain *sigh*. Anyways why don't I tell you how it all started. *mumble* ...doesn't care that I'm upset... *mumble mumble mumble*
-----------------------------------
My name is Niles Adrien, 16 years old, and I was having a normal day at school, listening to the people practical yelling at people to talk because no one would shut up, hearing all the loud mouthed football players laughing obnoxiously, and girls gossiping about random crap because they have nothing better to do. I was just sitting by myself listening to music, no point listening to that crap.
Like I said normal.
I didn't really have what you would call "friends".
Why are you looking at me like that?! I'm not antisocial, I'm anti-stupid *hmph*.

Anyways, I went through the day, until it came to the last class.
Sitting through the torture known as history class, I started to get a slight headache. I thought nothing of it other than it hurting but I just asked to get some water. I thought it was dehydration, but that didn't help it so I just decided to sleep through the rest of the class.
I ended up waking up right before they bell rang, but the headache was worse. Since it was the last class of the day, we were all permitted to leave, so I did.
I grabbed the things I needed and shuffled out the door.
On my way home I stopped by the grocery store and grabbed some aspirin for my headache. Then left to head for home again.
As I was walking by the town hall, which was on the way home, I noticed there was a band of people gathering around the town hall but I didn't really care. So I started walking home but my headache suddenly lifted.
Normally, I would be happy that my headache was gone, but I was too busy wondering what the heck was going on. What made me freak out you ask? Well the fact that I could see some sort of energy was swirling about, above the town hall.
Normally I would've ran far away from the scene, cuz u know, unknown stuff is scary. Man vs unknown and all that, But for some reason I went over to the people around the hall and asked what was going on.
A man angrily answered back "Some idiot in there locked all the doors and won't let anyone in. I got shit to do today dammit." Ok backing away slowly.... Don't need him to switch targets of anger... Ok... Let's go ask that lady over there.

"Hi, umm, what's going on and what's up with that thing up on top?"
"Hmm? What do you mean "thing on top"? " So you ignored my first question. *sigh* alright.
" That swirling thing on top of the building, I can't even tell what color it is" I replied to her.
"Go bug someone else with your bullshit brat"
After that, I got annoyed and stomped away from her, not even noticing another girl behind me smirk and lightly say
"Guess we missed one"
Afterwards, I got over my level of stupidity, and started heading home again. I didn't want to be anywhere near whatever that was. As I was contemplating what that was, I noticed I could feel something in the air that I could never feel before. What the heck?
Ugh, I just want to get home. So I started hurrying home, but just as I was a few blocks away, guess what happened? Really, try to guess. You don't want to? Ok. A speeding truck rounded the corner and almost hit me. Phew almost became a pancake ther..... WHAT THE FUCK?!
I was suddenly standing in the middle of the town hall's main office with what seemed to be a mix of teenagers, adults, and two or three children in the room.
Disoriented from the sudden change of scenery and my scare with the truck, I, oh so gracefully, fell on my ass. Which gathered a couple nervous chuckles from the group.
"Well now that was interesting. Glad everyone could make it"
Said an amused voice from the front of the room. That got everyone's attention.
At the front of the room there was beautiful girl sitting in the mayor's seat. She had long black hair, and what I couldn't tear away from, yellow glowing eyes. But what was most noticeable and really fucking scary was the big scythe she was spinning like a toy on her finger.

No matter what, their choices will bring forth a new era for Mendala. ------------------------------ If you love vast fantasy worlds, rich, fleshed-out characters, and a adventure where your'e constantly discovering new things along the way, then this is definitely a story you'll enjoy. This is a slow-burn high fantasy / adventure with many characters and intersecting plotlines. It’s a quest so lots of adventuring, exploring, and character moments, but not a ton of fighting/action (though there are definitely some great fight scenes as payoff to the buildup). Because it’s a fantasy world with lots of people and new concepts, I try to make it easy so that you don’t have to memorize anything. The narrative will constantly remind you of important people/places/concepts as you keep moving forward. Some things won’t be fully explained right at the beginning to avoid information overload. My goal is that the reader will learn things organically as the story progresses. I use two mechanisms to help with the intersecting plotlines. - Each chapter is named for the (main) plotline it’s following and which part. - At the beginning of the chapter, and anytime there is a scene shift, the location is listed. Also, though this is definitely a portal-fantasy (isekai) it’s different from the standard isekai, especially since the world transfer doesn’t happen immediately. It’s not Lit-RPG but characters gain powers and grow over time. Also, it’s a group of teens that transfer, not just one central character. All of the teens are distinct characters, with their own character-arcs, relationships, powers, growth etc. Hopefully you’ll find this interesting as you’ll see the world and story from multiple perspectives. The story is always in 3rd Person (Omniscient) POV so that it’s not jarring as perspectives shift.
