《Isekai Avenger》Chapter 18 Devourer part 2

NOTHing can stop me. I am a god. Invincible. Nothing can stop me from my holy mission. Nothing.
No matter what they do, they cannot stop me. I am on a mission and I will not be stopped.
The voices only irritate me, the bullets are shrugged off, the missiles… well the missiles slow me down.
Every time I start making progress, some plane shows up out of nowhere and blows up my body.
But I am more than mere meat. When they destroy my body, I simply travel as a spirit till I start feeling a pull downwards and I have to pick up a new body to possess or recreate my old one.
The first time my body was destroyed, I was shocked and a little scared that I would fail in my holy mission but I soon realised that I was beyond flesh. I had the knowledge to create a new body, an even better body than before. So I did.
I used the mana stored within my soul to create new flesh based off memories of my former body and the knowledge from the remnants of the Soul Virus.
It took some time to create a new body, with tougher bones and a more efficient circulatory system. When I formed again, I was so very VERY HUNGRY.
I drew on the power all around me, the heat from the recent fire, the ambient heat of the sunlight, the wind, the life deep within the soil and devoured it, to feed my rebirth as a holy avatar. It barely filled the hole within me, I needed more mana, more power and the best source of mana was souls.
SO I went HUNTING.
I could now sense where the best source of energy was, so I ran in that direction to feed.
I loved running with the new body, the feeling of the wind flowing over my body as I further enhanced it. I harden and lengthen my bones, repair broken blood vessels and absorb the power of the universe into me. I am on the edge of something beautifully barbaric.

When I reach the new city I reach out with my thoughts and draw in the power of everything using ENERGY DRAIN; light, heat, life, death, soul power fill me up. I glory in the power of their sacrifice, everything is mine to use for ascension.
He may be pure evil but his memories are the key to using his own power against him.
I will use his knowledge, his skills to ascend to a higher plane of existence and become GLORIOUS.
I just need to follow the basic steps; devour, digest and destroy anyone or anything that gets in the way to my goal.
I can sense him moving further away but it doesn’t matter, nothing will stop me, he’s only delaying the inevitable by running. He knows I am too powerful to stop. Nothing can stop me. I have become death. I will bring cleansing fire to the world.
Every time I claim or create a new body, I make it stronger, faster, more durable but it’s never enough to stop the bugs from above from setting it all ablaze.
The second time my body was destroyed was shortly after I ate that city and had started running into open road. They tasted so, so good, the souls like gulab jamun, so sweet, so filling, so addictive, so hard to stop at just one. I kept feeding until there was nothing left to eat, I felt sick, over full, like I was about to explode from trying to contain it all within my body and soul.
A brief flash and the sense of burning and I was untethered from flesh. It helped relieved the spiritual bloating, the mana overload, I just had to wait a little while, to let my feast settle within me.
Even as a mere spirit I could draw on the fire left behind. I waited till the plane and pilot was out of range before absorbing the heat of the fire and putting it out. I chose to travel as a spirit for a while so that their physical attacks would be useless.

I couldn’t maintain it though, there was this increasing pressure on my essence, pulling me towards the earth. I resisted for a while before simply recreating a physical shell to ride. I had given up on the mount, I didn't want to share my power with a mere beast, when I could run just as fast, if not faster, than it. It had nothing to do with it being a rough ride after a few hours.
Another town, another feeding frenzy and another ‘death’ later I tried a new approach to deal with the annoying setbacks.
I found a new town and flew my way through walls and into a sleeping person’s body, it didn’t take long before I ate their soul and stole their body and took it for a joy ride.
It wasn’t as useful as my previous body as it wasn’t armoured but I used it for a little while to drive his car into the next city before the hunger got so bad that I couldn’t help myself. I devoured everything in that city, I was JUST SO BLOODY HUNGRY. Inhabiting a stolen human body is harder than I expected.
After feasting on the city I felt like I was about to explode from eating so much.
I took a nap of sorts within someone’s house, making use of their warm bed to digest the power.
I woke up to explosions and fire and I lost the body again.
I travelled as a spirit again for a time, feeding off the souls of the Chinese army responsible for my latest loss. Their souls made up a little for the loss of power caused by the destroyed body.
I made sure to be a good distance away from them before reforming a body deep inside a city district.
After reforming ANOTHER body, I tried using a mana shield to protect the body but it was too hard to run and keep it going at the same time. The voices make it hard to concentrate for long.
They keep shouting out names or crying. Echoes of those who stood in the way of my mission. The liars kept trying to say to stop, that I had lost my mind but they didn't understand the beauty of my holy mission or they were against me. I wouldn't let the words of the weak stop me.
There are so many who do not understand that they stand in the way of divine glory and absolution.
There’s also this annoying blue box that’s like a pop up virus, alerting me about deaths and xp and new skills and Calamity title. I can’t get it to go away. I just keep mentally swiping left to get rid of the notifications.
Even with the repetitive cycle of death and rebirth I managed to travel through India and China and right up onto the eastern coast of China. I stopped at the water's edge. He’s stopped moving. I can feel him. If I cross the ocean, I will have the final battle and be done. Almost there, almost done.
I grow wings of bone from my back, they don’t actually let me fly, they’re too short and bony for that but they help to steer as I use magic to create wind to lift me up. It’s an expensive trick to maintain flight but it’s faster than swimming there. This way I can be on the lookout for more planes, they won’t kill me as easily this time around.
I have become much stronger than when I first awoke, I have reached the pinnacle of the human form, tireless, tough and terrifying.
Judgement day is close at hand and only one of us can be victorious.
