Chapter 3 - Misery in an Alley
Ramiel saw the dimming light in the sky. So he walked back to the slums only to see the usual bald thugs looking at him with the usual violent look. Ramiel trembled at their sight but didn’t show it on his face. The Thugs grinned at Ramiel and spoke.
“Hey, you dumb mute.”
“What’s up buddy?”
The two rested their arms on Ramiel’s shoulders, with a rather tight grip. Ramiel didn’t understand anything so he just stood idly while the two did their usual things. Bullying, that was the usual event of the two bald motherfuckers in front of Ramiel. They first met Ramiel, and initially one of the guys who stole his belongings. They sold the items for the right price, and now they ARE living great lives.
If Ramiel was awake, and he somehow luckily met a merchant, then probably he would be able to live in the town of Tal without any problems. Of course, he would then get taught the language and such. But since he has a little luck, he found himself begging, and now the two fucks who stole from him now bullies him.
Of course, Ramiel doesn’t know what the two did. He merely understood that two likes to bully him. Ramiel is a meek young man, he never really is that aggressive and he is rather passive. And since he knows that the two is much stronger than him. He merely stays still, let the two thugs harassed him.
But today the two’s mood was quite bad. So they made Ramiel their punching bag, and left him beaten up on the side of an alley. Ramiel’s face was beaten up more than usual. He has been mistreated since his time here, and now he looks even worse than usual.

Damn it...
He wiped his bloody mouth and lean on the wall. He can’t see that well, and since his far back in the alley. There was no light, and thus he can’t see anything other than the lit streets. Bruised everywhere, Ramiel tried to relax, to try to ease the pain but it was no use.
No magic and no self-regenerating powers can be use at his disposal. So he could only sit in the alley, cringe in pain, while looking at the streets just a few inches away from him. The Light calm him down, it reminded him a bit of the nosy little town just outside of the volk. He loved that town; he used to visit it with his family. So looking at the familiar scene in front of him, Ramiel could not help but feel sad.
Home, he wanted to go back home. In this world, he knows nothing, he doesn’t understand anything. And even though he was depressed in his home world, Ramiel realized that he had everything good compared to his situation now. He had loving relatives, a caring family, and friends that are friendly to the depressed him. But in this world, he has no allies at all, no shoulder to lean on. And importantly there was no hope.
Despair fills Ramiel completely. He agonizes, and his misery at the moment was impeccable. His breath is deep, and his body shaking, due to the wind passing by. His wounds ache, and with little clothing to be had. Ramiel’s teeth started rattling. Ramiel got used to this weather. It has been a month after all, and the Kingdom of Lin is known for its cold climate. Unlike the middle parts, or the west side of the continent that experience hot weather.
It’s cold here...

Ramiel muttered inside his head while sitting on the alleyway. His wounds got a bit numb due to the cold. It hurt though, so that is something he wanted to complain too. The weather will be getting cold again. So to avoid freezing to death here, Ramiel stood up, took a deep breath and head to the slums.
...
On the main roads, a silver-haired woman carrying her usual goods walked the streets. As she walks, she noticed a familiar person walking with blood all over him. Recognizing the person as the dumb mute, she stared at his beaten up face and frown a little. She looked at him limp towards the slums, she felt pity but nonetheless, she didn’t have the time at the moment to inspect him, thus she continued moving with a bit of ache in her heart.
Ramiel noticed a stare but when looked at where it is from. There was no one that was looking at him, so he thought it must be his imagination and continued further on towards the slums.
Arriving on the slums, he noticed that the people of the slums have already gathered on the bonfire they made. Ramiel, as a newcomer, a foreigner, and a disgusting organ eater, isn’t invited by the people of the slums. They despise Ramiel, and that is why Ramiel can only stare at the bonfire that warms the people of the slums. They were happily talking and seeing them being chatty. Ramiel could not but just smile wearily. He felt jealous at the sight of the people again and walked to his makeshift shelter. Looking at his place, he sat down, grab some of the dirty blankets he found and wrapped himself up with it. It stinks like shit, but Ramiel used to it. So despite the smell, he just wrapped it tightly around him, closed his eyes, and prayed that he will survive yet another day.
And as he prays, he thought of his family, prayed for their safety, and then slowly but surely. Closed his eyes and rested on his makeshift shelter in peace. As he sleeps, a tear rolled from his eyes, Ramiel then started sobbing as he sleeps. He misses them so much, he wanted to go home, and even with all those wishes, or prayers. His situation isn’t changing for the better at all.
