Chapter 5 - Bread and Cloak
What is this?
Ramiel’s wound healed up in no time. The woman who was proficient in the magical arts due to living in a certain household, it could be said that she serves an important person of the Kingdom of Lin. So healing up someone was quite easy for her.
“Are you okay?”
“?”
The woman tilted her head in wonder. She felt like the person in front of her didn’t hear what she said. So she repeated again, only for the dumb mute to look at her with a clear expression that he did not understand her. She felt troubled for a while and wondered what to do.
While she troubles herself. Ramiel stared at the woman with his heart palpitating loudly. She is a beautiful woman, and with this woman close to her, he could not help but feel nervous. He scratched his head, the woman glances at him and thought how thin his clothing was. She also felt like even though he is helping this man. He won't last at the incoming winter.
Milady wanted me to go home fast. But looking at this poor man, he seems like he really needed help, she thought.
The woman is quite a samaritan. She has been through a lot too, so helping those in need is quite a habit of hers. Hence, looking at the man, she took off her coat, handed it to the young man in front of him. Ramiel wondered why she was giving her cloak, he looks at her and made an expression asking why.
The woman looked at him and made gestures as if wrapping the cloak around him. Ramiel understood that thus he wrapped the cloak around his shoulder. Warm, that is the first thing that Ramiel thought after putting it on. Looking up, he then saw the smile of the woman who gave the cloak.

How beautiful.
She looked like an angel towards Ramiel. Feeling the kindness, the warm cloak, Ramiel could not help but tear up at the kind woman's help.
She saw Ramiel's tears. A man can cry too huh, she pondered at the sight of Ramiel crying. She never really saw a man crying in this world a lot, crying in this world is the sight of weakness. So a lot of men here don’t cry that easily. Because it makes them look cowardly.
But strangely this man didn't feel like he cared so much about being seen crying. The woman felt relax at this strange young man, and pulled another item from her bag, a piece of soft bread, the one that can be found on the rich streets of the town of Tal.
Ramiel accepted the piece of soft bread and took a bite. The moment he did so, the taste of cheese and a bit of cream appeared on his mouth. He was surprised at the two flavors; he never knew that such taste could exist in such medieval like society.
The woman saw the elated face of the young man. She felt delighted at the look of the young man, so she stood up and bowed her head. Ramiel bowed back as he then watches the angel-like woman walked out to the streets. Her robe fluttered, her figure disappeared from Ramiel's eyes.
Ramiel felt stunned at the woman. He swallowed the soft bread fully and wiped the crumbs around his mouth. Ramiel felt happy, this meeting made him believed that it shouldn’t be all that bad. He is luckily alive plus he got a new cloak that just feels warm.
Ramiel smiled for the first time in this world. And this smile was brought upon a woman who saved him. He would never forget this day.

...
The woman walked back to the place where she belongs. At the moment her mood is in turmoil. She didn’t expect to see such sight today. A sight that is seldom seen in this world, a man who is connected to his own emotions, attached to his feelings. Catherine never met a man that emotional. She grew up in an environment that told her to be strong. To never falter at whatever life throws at her, it doesn’t mean she is emotionless. But it only means that she lessens the pain by internalizing all of her thoughts.
So this meeting surprised her. A rather special meeting that made her realized that even men can be emotional. Truth be told, she thought that men were cold creatures. Growing up surrounded by hardened men and women taught her like that. But even so, she never expected this. That is why for once she felt that her Good Samaritan act was worth it this time.
As a servant of the Matriarch of the Kingdom of Lin. Catherine felt that maybe this time she will get much more good karma, not that she is counting her good deeds, but she thinks that this meeting should put a lot of karma on her. She is a believer of karma like most of the men and women she grew up with.
As part of the Special Forces serving the Matriarch, they are expected to do what they are told with utmost focus. But even with that, they are expected not to step into the thin red path that separates them from killers. Catherine’s job of being a guard of the Matriarch forces her to act upon goodness.
So that she can collect good karma, spiritual relief, and pride that she is never less than the people that she kills. Thus Catherine, the servant of the Matriarch felt that she did a good deed today.
Her memories of this meeting would last for quite a bit.
Not because of what she did. But because of various dominos that will fall the moment, she handed that cloak towards the beggar she helped. Sometimes even the tiniest bits of acts cause’s changes around the world.
A single push can change a lot. And Catherine, the Servant of the Matriarch caused a ripple in the town of Tal.
