Chapter 13 - The Mute's Daydream
Footsteps sounded out. The last person sitting on a table near the window left the building. A person with grayish hair took the plate and cup of the one sitting there. The person seems like he isn't focused on his work. But even so, he did his job properly and put the plates in the kitchen where they would get washed by a silver haired woman.
Clink, the plates got put on the basin counter. The person with grayish hair gestured to the silver haired woman. The silver-haired woman tilted her head to the right and then nodded. The grayish haired person walks out of the kitchen, putting the white cloth that he puts around his waist on a cloth hanger, he waltzes right out of the Inn and into the white world outside.
White dots fell down from the sky. He hugged himself at the sight of the snowflakes. As he was about to go, he remembered something that forgot. So he went back inside the Inn, climb up the stairs and into the attic. He scanned from left to right, and then he saw what he was looking for. It is a gray cloak, a cloak that someone who saved his life in an alley once gave him. For this grayish haired person, it is the symbol of his hope. You could say that this cloak is his torch in this world that leaks with darkness.
He took the cloak and wrapped it around him. Finally, with all set just fine. He descends downstairs, head to the door and back to the snowy world he was in. It is currently in the middle last of the winter season. Soon, the next year would set in and the date would become: The Kingdom of Lin, Year of Matriarch Elizabeth’s Reign, the tenth cycle.

From the ninth to the tenth cycle, the Kingdom of Lin would usher to a new age. But the age that is coming isn’t a particularly good one. There are circumstances, but even so, the grayish haired person would know nothing about it. Perhaps he is the most ignorant and naïve person in the world at the moment. He knows nothing, he won’t understand, and he can only look at the world with a confused expression.
This world would limit its kindness to him. As long as those who are the figures of the world are near him. He would be able to ride along in their waves, like a petal of a flower, he would be taken in. You could say that the grayish haired person is merely a slip in the threads of fate. He is a mistake to this world, and it would be better if he was killed. Of course, in the eyes of the deities above, he possessed no problem. Not because he is powerless, but because the Gods above could not see him. Every living being in the world could be seen, but not him.
An honest mistake, a simple miscalculation by the deities that watch over the world, it could be said that he is the only one with the future the God’s can’t see. Whether it is a curse or not, is something that only one lady who commands the winter can see.
Ramiel will not know about all of this. He will not know, simply because no one would ever tell him. It could be said that he is a wanderer of this unknown world.
...
Ramiel walks along a snake pathway composed of dirt and snow. He followed the path until he reached a familiar river now frozen. Walking to the lone tree near the river, he cleared up the snow and sat down. Taking out a roll of blunt, that he was surprised to find in the market, he lit it with a flint and put it in his mouth.

Puff, he smoked the blunt and closed his eyes. While the effects of the blunt set in, Ramiel started to daydream about his family.
First, he saw illusions of his mother looking at him and saying good luck. He kinda expected it since that is how she usually is. The second illusion is about his father. He finds his father annoying, and each his father would speak. He felt like he would want to tell him to shut up and glass him on the face.
He never was fond of his father. He worked overseas too much, and there was simply no good relation that got formed. But even so, Ramiel respected his father for what he has to go through in order to feed his family.
Next is his brother, they banter too much, but nonetheless, they understood each other. Ramiel is constantly jealous of his bubbly brother. But even so, he liked him enough to tolerate him.
And then his aunt, his aunt is an easily irritated old woman. She specializes in taking care of other people’s children. She pretty much spent her life taking care of her nephews. Ramiel like his old aunt despite her nature, she is the one that easily knows what Ramiel feels. Unlike his mother, she would never spoil on him too much.
Heck, if Ramiel wasn’t spoiled, he wouldn’t be depressed, he wouldn’t be taking a ride on a cruise ship headed to a trip to this place.
Ramiel then dreamt of his cousin, His cousin that he idolizes too much, a person with the look and the wits. Physically fit, and a rather troublesome individual that fits the ‘bad boy’ trope too much. But even though his cousin would sometimes bully him, Ramiel never hated him once. He was someone who knows how to turn insults into healing, he would insult Ramiel for how pathetic he is, but at the end, he would show how he cares so much about Ramiel.
He liked him as much as he likes his mother. Ramiel would find him the most enjoyable person to talk with. His cousin knows him too much, and because of that. Ramiel could never lie to him. Hence, one of the reasons why he took the cruise ship trip is because of his cousin’s last minute persuasion.
He missed them. And that is why within this daydream of his under a tree, a ball of liquid rolled on his cheeks. Ramiel’s new joy under this world is to daydream, to daydream of the world he once knew.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
