《Chasing the Mist》Her.

~Your warmth reaches so deep, letting me realize a depth to my heart that I didn't even know existed.~
"Ms. Mavros, inform me of today's schedule" these words were spoken by the man sitting behind the rosewood desk, his lips etched in his trademark smile that has stolen the hearts of who knows how many ladies and his statement directed at the silver-haired beauty that just came through the office doors.
"...Yes sir, there is a meeting in the conference room at 1:30 and another with the marketing team at 4pm" she replied as the sound of her heels connecting with the floor provides a tantalizing sound almost as if she is walking straight into your heart. Her immaculately manicured nails slide across the screen as she reports the schedule to the man seated before her with his suit's jacket unbuttoned and his tie loose looking nothing like a business executive.
Grinning, he sits up and rests his chin on his interlocking fingers, the sunlight shining through the floor to ceiling glass window behind him makes his ginger hair appear to glow as if feeding off the sun's rays and becoming molten lava.
"Then that means there is time for lunch, no?"
"No." came her curt reply.
"No?"
"No." she replied once again.
"So, a no to your no, which means it's a yes, right?" his smile remains the same even when he noticed the small drop in temperature in the office, in fact, the corners of his lips rose even more.
"No." said the woman, now standing with crossed arms and a little wrinkle in between her brows that would only be noticed if one was standing extremely close to her, a place few have ever been.
"Now, now, Ms. Mavros, you're going to have to give me a little more than that. All your nos have left me thoroughly confused"
She just stood there looking at the dramatic man, shaking his head and holding his hand to his forehead as if he was dealing with a child who was hard to teach.
Tilting his head a little, he took at peek at the lady in front of him and seeing that she was unmoved, rather the temperature had dropped even lower he decided that he probably wouldn't get anywhere if he continued like this and decided to change tactics.

He smoothly got up from the seat and walked over to the one he persistently referred to as Ms. Mavros since she entered. Rubbing his arms and pouting his lips, he put on the most pitiful expression he could muster, though it failed to hide the amusement and mischief in his emerald eyes, which the girl who was now looking up at him was able to clearly see.
"My cute secretary don't be like this, look at how you're turning me into a popsicle, ah, I can feel the goosebumps on my skin." he cried out miserably, and it actually wasn't an exaggeration as the closer he got to her the more chilled he felt.
She silently stared at the big overgrown baby in front of her and though his acting didn't fool her, the temperature in the room was rising and the tiny crease in her forehead seemed to melt away as if an ice cube before the summer sun. What could she say? She found him adorable.
All this, of course, is known by the man who grinned widely and then took the icy yet lovely lady before him into his arms. He looked down at her with sparkling eyes and as for her who had always given in to him, she simply surrendered and let him do what he wants, her own fair hands circling around his waist.
"So, lunch?" he asks, to which he was only given an eye roll as response.
Unbeknownst to them, though they would hardly care even if they knew, the company employees were having a heated discussion about them.
"Do you think they fought?" a petite woman asks as she passes a cup of coffee to a man standing before her.
"Isn't it obvious, did you think it was a freak storm that almost turned us into popsicles?" a nasally voice replies as the owner pops up out of the blue behind the lady who first spoke.
"Bloody Hell! Epora, don't do that I almost spilt my coffee." she exclaims at the woman behind her, her irises turning a hint of green.
"Sorry, sorry Kayara, my collectable pen rolled under the vending machine and I sized down to get it." Epora apologies and shows off her pen.

"Not afraid of encountering a spider down there?" another employee around them throws out, causing Epora's face to pale, horror plastered across it.
"Oh, gosh no" just the thought of those monstrous creatures being eye level with her is enough to make her skin crawl.
"Then don't randomly shrink down in the office anymore, anyway do you really think they fought, aren't 'they' the only one the boss caters to and spoils?" Kayara questions after taking a sip of her coffee, which she originally got to warm herself up because of the sudden temperature dip.
"And so what? even the closest of family gets into fights, much less those two who share no blood." Epora retorts as she carefully stores away her pen.
"Well, I guess you could be right." stated Kayara who shows her agreement with a nod.
"Oh, yeah?" questioned Leth while placing down the finished coffee, he got from Kayara "so you both haven't realized that the temperature is back to normal" he said looking at both ladies with his bushy eyebrows arched upward.
It was after his words both ladies realized this but before they could voice their thoughts on the situation, the doors of the CEO office opened and they all ran as fast as they could back to their seats. Epora for good measure, just shrank down and hid.
Out the doors first came a dashing ginger haired man who seemed to let nothing at all bother him, sporting the most carefree of grins on his handsome face. The adonis steps aside and makes an inviting gesture to the person still inside to step out of the office. The first thing noticed as she comes out is perfectly toned legs clad in a black designer shoe, a golden anklet jingles with her every step. The lady stepping out by no means is overshadowed by the gorgeous man before rather her beauty matches perfectly with his.
As she exits, he takes her hand and places it in his, then leads her outside for the lunch he coerced her into. Both of them pay no mind to the stares they receive as they head to the elevator, long being used to the looks they receive from others, more so when they are together.
When the elevator doors shut, the silent office, which seemed to always automatically freeze when they are both together, once again came to life.
"Even after seeing them together so many times I still can't get used to it." one employee said with a sigh. His eyes still had a slightly star-struck look in them.
"Right, it's like they stepped out of a painting and came to grace us mortals with their presence." another commented.
"We really are lucky to have such an exquisite boss, but then again we can't even look directly at them because of how intimidating they are"
"Right, I'm so jealous of boss though, to have such a gorgeous best friend, I would be happy every day knowing I get to see that face smiling at me." wistfully stated an employee as she photocopies some papers.
"Happy? Our boss?" said Epora incredulously. She already went back to her regular size as soon as the elevator doors shut. As they say 'when the cats away the mice will play' and it was only when that cat left would anyone dare relax.
"Right. Has anyone actually ever seen Boss smile? I mean she is the owner of a successful fashion company, I heard that her family is very loving, she's young, beautiful and rich and she has a gorgeous best friend who adores her, if I were her, I would go around with a smile 24/7." said the female employee who drew near to the group having finished her photocopying to join in the discussion.
And the boss who they were so passionately talking about, well, she was currently being driven who knows where for a lunch date she didn't particularly want. As for why she played along with his 'He is the boss' charade, she simply viewed it as a child playing play pretend.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
