Chapter 7
Ryan: "So, what should we do now?"
Adeel: "Good question. Maybe train?" He said in a bit of irritated tone.
Well.. I couldn't blame him, after all what was done to us may endanger our lives.
Umer: "Are you kids stupid? Why would you train right away? Rather than training, we should find the people who have mass awakened to the propertizer and group them together. Then, we should either train or plan something else up." He suggested in a calm way.
This guy was unusually calm...
Wait... Is it that.... he is happy..?
happy at being a 1 in a square of sextillion occurrence?
Well I would be too.. haha I am shameful.
Ryan: "I agree with that but where do we find the people?" He also asked in a normal way.
Oh my god, he also doesn't feel anything about it.
Not like I have the right to say anything.
I am surprised at how easily we accepted the situation we are in.
Usually anyone would whine or at least be a bit afraid in this situation but for some reason we are not.
Well that aside, grouping people like us together eh..?
Finding people like us..
Hmm... what is it that makes me and my friends a part of the mass awakened bunch..
Is it having awakened on the same day..? well it is, but Akram did say that the mass awakening would keep happening for a week.
Then what is it... What do we have in common..?
What did Akram say..?
Mass awakening.. prominent cities..
Hmm.. All people awaken at a prominent place, so the people of that nation or something mass awaken at the same place.
Same Place... same Place...
What is it!?
WHAT is it that we have in common?

think.
THINK!
The thing we have in common is...
"School?" oops I spoke out loudly..
Umer: "Hm? what?" He looked at me with a questioning face.
"Oh, nothing. Sorry, I was thinking about the place so I accidentally spoke my thoughts out loud.." I am so embarrassed..!
Haji, who was quiet this whole time, finally spoke.
Hajji: "No, maybe the school is the right place to start searching at. We are from the same school and awakened at the same day, so there is a high chance that most of the awakened people from our batch in the city are from our school."
I am not embarrassed anymore!!
Yay!! Haji seems to be the only guy who feels human emotion in our group.
Again, I am saved!!
Thank god.
"Alright, I think the first thing we should do is actually go to school and check if most mass awakened people are from our school. Then, if our assumptions turn out to be correct, we ask Umer.. to take a job at our school." I suggested.
Ryan: "Good idea."
Adeel: "I also agree."
Haji: "That's a good point."
Everyone nodded.
Umer: "Wait, wait wait. Where is my choice here? I don't know if I like to teach or something.."
But..
There is always someone who likes to disagree.
" *Sigh* It's not like we have a choice you know. Your time of awakening is near ours so in a way, you are from our batch and if you don't join our school you would be alone in getting accustomed to this new world, without any help. Either way, you will have to join our school for company and updates on what's going on. Tell us your field of work, maybe we can work out something with that?"

He was quiet.
Of course he had to be.
My argument was uncounterable.
Umer: "...I specialize in 'Managing' stuff. You say that our circumstances force me to have a job at your school but you don't know about my circumstances.."
Adeel: "If you are good at managing stuff then it should be even better because when we group people together, we will need someone to manage stuff. Plus by the vibe you give, I don't think you have.. any kids. Sorry if that was rude."
"We won't press you but please if you can, we would really appreciate it."
Again, Umer was quiet.
I feel bad for him.
But it's not like I have a choice do I. This is something which is going to shape our actions in the future and Umer is crucial for that. He is the only adult among us.
"Anyways, does everyone agree on this plan?" I asked if there were more objections.
Ryan: "Seems good."
Adeel: "I am in."
Haji: "I guess this is the only route of action we can take.. I am in too."
Umer: "........ Alright, I also agree with the plan."
Everyone nodded again but this time with Umer included.
"Alright, from tomorrow onwards.. we are gonna rummage through every speck of the city to find the mass awakened. Umer, let's meet up here again, tomorrow, for further updates."
And so, our hunt began.

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest
Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people! No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons! Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did. I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.
