Chapter 3: After The Ship Sailed Away
Jack stands next to Rick, ‘We will only be away for a couple of weeks at max we will be back before next month’, as he smacks Rick on his back, ‘Light up, you making the whole crew down, they all have a family too, the quicker we get the resources we need, the quicker we can sail home’, Rick nods at the captain, as he gets pointed to the stairs, as he noticed Rick was still holding all his stuff in his bag, ‘go put your things in your room’, Rick walks over to the stairs they would go down, it was a medium sized stairs, going down he came into a hallway, there were multiple rooms before he went down Jack clearly said the second room by the stairs, he opens the door going inside he throws his bag onto the chair next to the bed, there was a huge mirror next to the bed and a smaller table as well, the bed was made up with a pillow and blankets, after looking around the room for a few seconds he went back up the stairs locking the room behind him.
The day went by fairly quickly, the sea was calm, no other ships nearby or spotted, Jack once again joined Rick, and they talked for a few hours talking about how they were going to get the resources, Jack explained they made a great deal before they left their home with a richer country almost a week away from their village, Jack explained that they had enough resources to let our village get through the winter and beyond, Rick thought Jack was kind of vague about the whole deal, but let it go as he thought about his family, and the whole village could actually survive for a long time if this deal succeeded.

After they talked Rick decided to go back to his room to sleep, he sat down on his bed, removing his leather boots, he looked into the mirror, as he whispered to himself, ‘Maria... Vanessa, I will be back very soon’, as he laid down on his bed, which was comfortable, he stared at the roof for a couple of hours before dozing off into dreamland.
Rick was dreaming about a man talking to him, it was very vague, he could barely make out what the man in his dream was trying to tell him, as out of nowhere Rick shot out of his dream by a loud explosion, ‘What the!?’, he yelled as he fell out of his bed, he heard multiple men yell, ‘We are under attack!’, Rick rushed his boots on before grabbing his bag, within his bag he had a hidden pistol and a blade, as he almost smashes his door open, he looks around the hallway, a few other men rushed past him up the stairs, as Rick followed them, as Jack was standing by the giant wheel holding the ship as multiple what seems to be pirate swing aboard the ship, as the men rush at them, swords clashing, as Rick rushes at a pirate Slashing him down, as the pirate falls to the floor bleeding out slowly, as Rick rushes toward where Jack was, as one of the men named Bob followed Rick closely behind, as another pirate swings aboard Bob slashes him down, as both rush up the stairs, Jack yells at them, ‘More in coming! Behind you!’ both of them turn around, as they see one after another of their men being cut down.
Rick turns around but before he could react he saw Jack standing right behind Bob, as he puts his pistol to Bob his head shooting him from point-blank range through the head, Rick was in pure shock seeing Jack just shoot one of their own men, in full rage he attempted to rush at Jack but before he could even reach him multiple Pirates jump him, as he could hear Jack Yell, ‘do not kill him, we can still make a profit out of him’.

Rick still in full rage mode yelled at Jack, ‘How could you! You bastard! We trusted you!’, Jack told them to hold Rick up, ‘that was your first mistake, trusting a pirate’, as he points to one of the men they captured from his own crew, ‘I honestly do not care enough about this crew, you can all burn in hell for what I care’ as he said that he grabs Rick his blade as he stabs the man right in front of him multiple times, clearly he was stabbing the man in places that would not kill him instantly forcing Rick to look at the man squirm around for a couple of minutes before he died, as Jack stands in front of Rick, as Rick keeps yelling curse words and trying to attack him, Jack simply says, ‘go sleep now, we got a long day ahead-‘, as he punched Rick in the face knocking him out, as the pirates take him with them.
To Be Continued.

Just Don't Shoot the Quartermaster
Aliens are real! And monsters! But that's racist, don't call them that. And there's magic too! The life of humble, hard-working Carioca*¹² Rafael Barro is thrown into disarray when the interstellar Multi-Unity Alliance comes knocking. During the negotiations to take Earth in as a Protected Member-Planet for the glory of our AI overlords, the aliens ‘accidentally’ break the Veil that keeps the mythics protected from humanity’s knowledge, revealing the creatures of legend and myth that were hiding among us for millennia — from the doorman to global leaders. After a series of mishaps in his ever chaotic Brazil, our intrepid hero decides to join the Unity's Army, where he ends up as a inglorious… quartermaster. The Unity takes all recruits to make matters worse, including the mythics! And the cherry on the damn pie is Rafael Barro’s extra assignment: writing this historical first-hand report on the wonders of Earth’s diversity, the seamless adaptation of all its members, and on his gallant units’ first stellar expedition ever to defend another precious*³ world! Are we talking about the same planet? (Reader discretion is advised; Contains Graphic Language and Potentially Excessive Swearing) *¹ Carioca = demonym of someone from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. *² humble and/or hardworking Cariocas = not necessarily mythics, ordinary ones actually exist. *³ precious = inasmuch every living planet is precious. Editor's Note: Someone disable his permission to edit the draft on UnityDocs, please! Hello, I'm McKing and I aim to write an original story with elements I've never seen put together before. Feel free to point out any mistakes you see — I'm not a native speaker, so I'm sure a few will pass me by. Sci-fi; Humor; (Brazilian) Urban Fantasy; faint shades of LitRPG. **Be warned it has a bit of an (absurd) slice-of-life beginning though the story is being subtly (I hope) worked on and eventually shifts gears (a bit). I planned to say that from the beginning, but I forgot to add it.** I hope that you enjoy it and that I can grow as a writer with your contributions. No Fixed Update Schedule. My inspiration comes in bursts and so will the Chapters. Sorry if that displeases you (I love regular updates too), but I'm afraid that's the best I can do for now. Keep in mind that it is a work in progress and things can eventually change a bit - I'll try to always note the changes. Sorry for the bad cover, it was the best my sorry skills could do! I hope you enjoy it,Mcking
