《Caves of Gods》9: Meeting Toby and Cyna

Journal,
Fiona hasn't gotten back. I ate breakfast and lunch with Abaddon and Thessaly. Thessaly handed a bunch of paints, a paint brush, some papers, and a few books. I've read a few chapters of a book and painted some pictures. I couldn't help but notice how secretive Thessaly and Abaddon are. The paintings I drew were of my dad and my old friends. I've tried drawing Thessaly and Abaddon in their horse forms. I've failed at it again and again. I can draw people well, but I can't at all draw horses. I don't think Abaddon or Thessaly could help me. Maybe they could. I'll write back later.
Journal,
A minute after I stopped writing, I was able to gain enough courage to belt out, "Hey, could one of you teach me to draw animals?"
"Sorry kid," Thessaly said, "I can't and neither can Abaddon."
"Kay," I say. I drew and painted Abaddon and Thessaly. I took a few hours because I tried to do it perfectly. I think I did a good job but, it isn't perfect. Anyway, a few minutes after finishing drawing Thessaly, Fiona finally came. We first heard her footsteps then, we saw her.
She cleared her throat and said, "Toby's here don't scare him away."
"How did you get here so fast?" I asked.
"We used the white gem." She replied, "Anyway, don't scare him away. Okay, I just told him about this world. He's still getting used to it. I'll go get him." Fiona went to go get Toby. Toby walked in. Toby was a small, frail boy with the same skin tone as Fiona but with lighter hair. I got a hand out to greet him. He walked up and shook my hand. Thessaly turned into a human to shake his hand. Toby stood back and took a minute until shaking his hand. Abaddon also transformed into a human and shook Toby's hand.

"Hey, Toby, do you want lunch?" I asked.
"Yes, please," Toby replied. I got him a bowl of stew and some water. Thessaly made the stew for me and Abaddon but, he didn't mind much. Toby sat down on a rock and I gave him the bowl. He ate the stew quickly and I was in charge of cleaning it. After cleaning the bowl, I showed Toby my paintings.
"These are very good." Toby said.
"Yeah, that actually surprised since I haven't drawn or painted in long time." I spoke.
"Well, they're very good," Toby told me.
"Yeah, one time I actually joined an art coemption and won." I spoke.
"Good, for you," Toby spoke, "I actually played music back home."
"Can you sing me song?" I asked.
"I don't sing I play the saxophone." Toby replied.
"Cool," I spoke, "Did you ever like played for your family?"
"Yeah," Toby replied sadly.
"What's wrong?" I questioned.
"I miss my family," he replied.
"Yeah, I miss my family too and my friends," I said, "What was your family like?"
"It was me, my mom, and my three sisters. Well, I guess I could call Fiona my fourth sister." he replied.
"How back do you guys go?" I questioned.
"Pretty back. Our mothers are friends and we've been through everything together since three." Toby answered.
"Guys come over here!" Abaddon yelled. Toby and I walked over to Abaddon. "Okay, Fiona, me, and Thessaly talked. Let's go to Cyna's cave."
"Your daughter's?" I asked
"Yes," Abaddon mumbled, "Anyway, let's go." I putted my stuff in my bag, grabbed it, and carried it. We said goodbye to Thessaly and walked out of the cave. We got out of the cave. Abaddon told us to ride him. I got on him. Then Fiona did. Toby had reservations about riding Abaddon. We eventually convinced him. Fiona's hands were on my waist and Toby's hands were on Fiona's waist. When I noticed this, I looked back. I was the only one uncomfortable. Maybe, I was making a mountain out of a molehill. The route took an hour for Abaddon to gallop. The route took many turns. Fiona and Toby kept catching up. I overheard many of this. I overheard how Fiona got to Wales.

Apparently, the journey was through ships. She said that she met someone called Peter Melik. Peter Melik was one of my father's coworkers. If she met Peter my father could still be alive. If she met him on the way to Wales, he still could be on the ocean. How could they still be on the ocean? Aren't they still on their journey? Or maybe my journey's been faster than I thought. We got to the cave and we got off.
"Is she dangerous?" I asked.
"No, she seemed fine." She replied.
"You had one conversation. I shouldn't have asked you." I remarked.
"Your making false accusations." She said, "When did you talk to her."
"Well, I have interacted with two gods for more than one day." I spoke.
"Gods aren't always the same." She told me.
"Let's just go inside." I said tired of her. We walked inside. I walked next to Abaddon and Fiona and Toby walked behind us. We walked for a minute or two then came across a fork in the road.
"Let's go right." I spoke.
"No, let's go left." Fiona said.
"Or maybe you guys should go left, we go right and after ten minutes or when we see the goddess we'll meet up." I spoke.
"And who's going to keep time?" She asked.
"Abaddon of course." I replied.
"Fine." she spoke. Abaddon and I went right. We walked for five minutes then Fiona screamed, "We found her!" Still in shock ran to find Fiona and Toby. Abaddon galloped after me. I eventually found them near a scarlet horse with a red mane and sea green eyes.
"Hello, father." She said coldly towards Abaddon.
Abaddon sighed then said, "Hello, daughter give us the scrolls then we'll go." Cyna turned into a human and gave the papers to Abaddon who then turned into a human and aggressively took the papers from her. "Let's go children." he said. He galloped quickly and we ran to catch him. We eventually left the cave. "Get on." he commanded.
"Why do you and your daughter have such bad blood," I asked.
"Because we do," he replied. We got on top of him.

Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
