《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 104: The Omnisicient Eye, The Strongest Arm, The Fastest Leg

As the giant fist of ice neared, Kai looked on with a calm expression. Then he slowly raised his left arm and along with it, his left palm. Then, he let his weight rest on his left leg.
"Accepting death?!"
Hyosuke roared and the fist of ice landed on Kai with a boom. It was aimed downwards and would definitely crush Kai if he had stayed, Hyosuke was sure of that.
The giant arm weighed at least ten tons and with the speed it slammed Kai, it would produce a force of at least twice that. No ordinary human could defend against it, not even an S-class body would survive without using magic and enhancement.
"Hahahaha...HAHAHAHAHA!"
Hyosuke laughed in hysteria.
"You dared to challenge me! This is what you get! Now I'll take that girl's magic power and flatten this kingdom!"
The reason that Erina had acquired a huge power up compared to others of her same level was the grimoire that Hyosuke had told her to read. But it wasn't something used for power and reducing lifespans, it was a forbidden book that transferred one's magic power to another.
If Hyosuke can take Erina's near peak A-class magic and talent, then the demon inside him would certainly be the strongest human in the continent. He couldn't use just anyone, he had to take someone who would reach A-class for certain and the body he possessed just so happened to have a daughter with outstanding talent.
A demon possession includes many factors but the most important one is the state of mind. Kai was dying and his will was at its lowest, he had long since given up life. On top of that, the demon used magic to temporarily stop his rationality. In the end, Kai's will overpowered the injured demon after a few days of possession.
Hyosuke was a duke and the chances that he would be possessed was low. But if a demon in perfect health were to try and possess him who was still saddened by his wife's death even after four years, it was child's play. Hyosuke has nearly no chance to take back his body on his own.
The demon who possessed Kai planned to use blood and refine it as magic power which took the least time. But the demon who possessed Hyosuke had created a better plan for long-term use. With just one ceremony, he can remove his connection with Hyosuke while simultaneously taking Hyosuke and Erina's magic power for his own.
The Sakamoto Palace's duke and son knew that Erina would be stripped of her power. Because how would they expect Erina who was a match for the Sakamoto Palace's duke, Sakmoto Ryo to silently allow herself to be wed to Sakamoto Gen. It was obvious that even after they get married, he wouldn't be even be able to hold her hand.

"I see. So?"
"...!"
Hyosuke felt a chill down his spine and as the dust cleared, he saw that the giant fist had actually never reached the floor. Instead, it had stopped at Kai's hand.
"How...?! Even I, a higher being, can't stop that!"
"Higher being this, higher being that, can't you shut up?"
The giant fist of ice slowly started moving backwards and then, it began cracking.
"Impossible..."
The cracking sounds became even more audible and it already spread halfway.
"This is impossible...!"
CRACK CRACK SHATTER
The giant fist of ice crumbled and Hyosuke's demonic aura surged.
"HAAAA!"
Hyosuke roared as if he became mad, his eyes turned dark and his pupils turned red.
The other arm was raised and the broken arm was reformed in an instant, then both of them hit Kai from the front.
He raised his left arm to cover himself and placed his right foot backward.
DING
"DIE, DIE, DIE!"
The two arms that had hit Kai pushed him backwards several dozens of meters until he was nearly at the wall. But just before Kai had hit the wall, he roared.
The pace that he moved backwards significantly decreased. The sleeves on his left arm began ripping apart and Kai's skin started peeling. Then just as he was about to hit the wall, he managed to stop it.
"IMPOSSIBLE!"
Hyosuke roared out and raised his arms. A giant stream of violet water and huge vortex of violet wind converged together and assaulted Kai. The vortex would be enough to rip someone apart, the water became so thin that the slicing capability of the vortex nearly quadrupled.
Coupled with the ice arms, it was for certain that Kai would die, Hyosuke used everything in his power to make sure of it.
"...Did you know?"
Despite the noise from the vortex that was about to slice him apart, Hyosuke could hear his words clearly. Erina and Yoko managed to arrive through the door, Erina was still pale but she was being help up by Yoko. Behind them was the vice-captain and the man in a cloak who had talked to Kai. The members of Memento Mori were also there though some of them were barely conscious.
"Six years ago, I lost my left arm, left leg, and left eye. My left arm was lost to the clan who had defended themselves, my left leg was beginning to poison me because it had already died so I had it cut, and I lost my left eye trying to regain control of the demon. But how do I have them now?"

At that time, the vortex landed and Kai was beginning to be shredded apart.
"Kai!"
Erina shouted in worry.
"The truth is, I never really got them back. I abandoned being human and modified my body. An arm and leg made of the strongest steel, an eye created with forbidden magic with the help of a God. I always hid them because even if I abandoned being a human, I didn't want others to think me of me as a monster. I didn't want to be seen by the eyes that everyone had used to look at me when I was possessed. But..."
The arms shattered and the vortex scattered, revealing Kai's tattered body. He didn't escape from the damage that those attacks had produced.
"What are those...?"
"So that's it..."
Erina furrowed her brows.
"Even with my eye and touch, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with his arm but to think it was that..."
Kai's left arm was made of black metal which shone lustrously. His leg was made of the same material but it looked the same as a human leg. Kai closed his bleeding right eye and left his left eye that had a magic circle rotating inside.
"...To protect those close to me, and to never lose anyone again, I'll gladly become a monster. As long as I live, I won't let those close to me die anymore. Whether they be humans, God, or the Devil himself, as long as they stand in my way, I'll slaughter them all!"
"YOU FUCKING INSECT!"
"SHUT UP!"
Even with Kai's tattered body, he kicked the floor and left a huge crater that broke the wall and floor like it was made of glass. A giant sonic boom incomparable to those before appeared and broke through the wall that was already breaking apart.
Kai arrived right in front of Hyosuke and did a headbutt which made both their foreheads bleed.
"A FATHER SHOULD NEVER HURT HER DAUGHTER! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HER!"
Kai clenched his left fist and punched Hyosuke's abdomen. Hyosuke's eyes turned white for a second but his fierce expression came back and landed a fist on Kai's cheek.
"WHAT DO I CARE HUMAN?!"
"SHUT UP, DEMON!"
Kai used his right hand and held Hyosuke's cuff then used his left knee to hit his abdomen again.
"I'M TALKING TO MARIKO HYOSUKE, HER FATHER!"
Then, Kai held the side of Hyosuke's head and did another headbutt.
"I know you're in there! Stop being so hung up over your beloved's death to the point that you would forget to protect your own daughter!"
Kai pinned Hyosuke down and began punching left and right.
"I've suffered more than you! I had to kill my own parents and friends with my own hands! I lost my best friend who was also my first mentor just because of my foolishness! But even so...!"
Kai clenched his right fist which had his own blood.
"...You dare get yourself possessed and have your daughter suffer for more than a decade?! I can't forgive you."
Kai saw the light in Hyosuke's eyes and stood up.
"Get up, Mariko Hyosuke."
The magic circle in Kai's left eye rotated faster and faster until it seemed like his pupils were glowing. He raised Hyosuke upwards with telekinesis, his left arm opened to make a chamber and a shotgun shell with a magic circle at the front appeared in his right hand. Then, he loaded it inside his arm and it clicked.
His left arm suddenly launched forward, it slammed into Hyosuke's chest and a black smoke-like silhouette appeared from behind him.
"There you are, demon."
Kai placed the collapsed Hyosuke near Erina and the others before facing the smoke-like silhouette.
Kai's wounds were still closing but they still weren't completely healed. The corruption was working quite well against him. But not even a single scratch appeared on his metal limbs.
"The first beatdown was for the father who had made his daughter suffer. The second is a slaughter against the demon who had been the cause for her to suffer in the first place. [Limit Break]."
The silhouette finally formed into that of a demon's with fierce eyes.
"YOU DAMNED HUMAN!"
"I see you."
In the past, he only saw a silhouette but to his left eye, the real demon's looks and weaknesses were made clear.
Kai dodged left when the demon had used a smoke-like projectile and then countered by kicking the demon with his left leg which sent the demon flying.
"Im...possible!"
"Unfortunately for you, I've long since figured out how to defeat soul-like entities."
Kai raised his right arm then his gun teleported inside his hands. Then, he pointed it towards the demon.
"Bang-!"
Before Kai could finish his sentence, he was forced on his knees and coughed up a huge amount of blood.

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
