"[Phoenix Spear]!"

Wings of flame began to form at Kai's back and flapped so strongly that it passed mach speed twice over. The flames on his head formed what seemed to be a beak and his feet's flames formed a tail of a bird. Kai wasn't even visible inside anymore, it looked like an actual phoenix fighting a dragon.

The phoenix was even faster than the dragon's folded wing nosedive. But the size of the dragon was at least twenty times that of the phoenix, from afar, it seemed like a pipe dream that the phoenix would defeat the dragon.

As Kai neared the dragon's head, he suddenly dodged and went above it. The flaming phoenix was on the back of the dragon. Kai stuck to the dragon's skin and burned it but with just normal flames, he couldn't do much damage. That's why, when he reached the point of the dragon's wings, his flames changed into a golden color.

"[Empyrean Phoenix Spear]!"

"ROOOOOOOOAR!"

The dragon roared loudly as its wings were scorched and burnt off by the phoenix's golden wings. Without the wings on its back, it began to fall down straight. Kai dodged the tail that was going towards him by going upwards before swooping down. The dragon was now incapable of flight but a dragon was so tough that even though it lost its wings, it could still destroy an entire army.

Kai dove straight down at an insane speed and flapped his wings to go even faster. By now, he was faster than the dragon who was free falling because it had lost all capabilities to fly. Once he was closer to the ground than the dragon was, his phoenix figure disappeared, to be replaced by his usual self. He aimed his fist towards the falling body of the dragon and magic circles rotated around his arm before moving towards his hand, making a bigger magic circle. That magic circle then another version of the magic circle appeared on the dragon and made itself as big as the dragon's falling body.

If the dragon were to fall as is, Kai's fortress of ice would be destroyed.

"[Fly]. Get blown away!"

Kai lessened his speed and inserted a shell into his arm with a click. Then, his left arm shot out with insane force thatand created a shockwave once it reached the limit of his reach. It wasn't going to reach the dragon, but the magic circle on his hand transferred the force of Kai's punch to the magic circle on the dragon's body. The dragon roared in pain as it was blown away towards the beasts on the ground, crushing hundreds of them. Even that was not enough to lessen the numbers by a lot. But with those hundreds, the clouds began to form even clearer. Instead of a blurry image, now there were a handful of clouds that looked real. The sky blue slowly matched an actual sky's color.

"Too greedy."

Kai sighed and kicked the air which launched him back towards the fortress.

"If I kill the dragon, it'd be at least ten percent. That means that a little over a thousand beasts is equivalent to a dragon. Which means that ten dragons is enough for me to get out of this place."

Kai stretched his right hand to the side and tapped his pendant with his left.

"[Flame-rending Bullet]."

Kai's gun charged itself and following a bang, a stream of blue light shot out from the gun. It was so fast that the bang was as loud as a sonic boom, in a blink of an eye, it reached the dragon's body and pierced it.

"GRAAAAAAAAAAA!"

The dragon roared in pain. Kai shot over and over until the dragon was riddled with holes and died of blood loss. He could've ended it with a single full-charged shot but he used partially charged shots on purpose, it was to make the dragon rampage on the floor and kill more of the beasts around it. Although it had no wings, a dragon thrashing around on the floor would still kill anything alive around it, its tail would be a deadly weapon for it.

As the dragon did its death throes and gave its last roar, more roars sprung up from around Kai. Not just one or two, but four dragons had appeared and all aimed breath attacks at Kai. Kai himself knew that even he couldn't come out unscathed if he took those attacks with varying elements head on.

"Then, I'll have to abandon this ice fortress."

Kai utilized his speed and got away from the ice fortress which was immediately destroyed by the four breath attacks. Kai then charged his gun again and with great speed, flew towards the nearest dragon. He jumped towards a dragon with the element of wind and got on its back. The dragon did everything to shake it off but the other dragons didn't care about it and aimed at Kai. The wind dragon was forced to defend itself against those three dragons. Enraged, the wind dragon who took damage charged towards the nearest one and Kai used that to his advantage.

"A water type, then... [Wave-rending Bullet]."

A brown light burst from the gun but instead of just a thin line, it burst out like a cannon. The line that shot out was also larger compared to before and a single shot was enough to damage the dragon severely despite being mobile. Earlier, the dragon on the floor was shot by Kai on its stomach and chest, those were two of a dragon's soft spots. But a dragon's softest spot is the bottom of its neck, near the point it connects to the body because it contains their elemental gland, it defines a dragon's element and allows them to use breath attacks. But it's also their life, with that pierced, they'd die without a doubt, though not instantly, they won't last for more than a few minutes. That's why when dragons fight, they usually do anything to keep the enemies away but allow them to hack away at their backs, the gland was many times more important than wings which didn't define a dragon's life. But it was also true that a dragon with wings is several times stronger than a dragon without.

The water dragon that had just gotten hit roared in anger and charged towards the wind dragon. Dragons were mighty and smart creatures but it was evident that the dragons Kai had encountered in this place were only acting by instinct. Kai chose the wind dragon to ride because not only was it the nearest, it was also the fastest though it also had the weakest attack power.

When the water dragon crashed into the wind dragon, Kai held onto the dragon's scales tightly to not get flung away. Then, the two dragons of earth and fire began to unleash a breath attack at the same time. The destructive power of a dragon's single breath attack was enough to decimate an entire army's formation and two at the same time would send anyone reeling in fear. Even Kai wouldn't come out unscathed unless he used [Reflect] or some other weapon.

But Kai wasn't afraid, he had perfect shields right there.

Kai leapt up to the dragon's head and forced it to raise its body. The water dragon changed its target from the wind dragon's back to its head where Kai was at. With both dragons having raised their bodies, the roar attacks destroyed their defenses like they were made of paper. The water dragon that had already been severely injured by Kai's shot was brought down but was still alive. The wind dragon whose only damage taken was the water dragon's body was better off but even it could not stop itself from falling.

Kai leapt from the wind dragon's fallen body and kicked the air. Like an arrow launched from a bow, the air whistled as Kai passed. But the dragons saw him, they both began to charge forward but hit each other and began fighting in the process.

Dragons fighting by instinct were many times weaker when fighting in groups. Dragons never really liked going in groups in the first place.

Kai, while launching towards the dragons had positioned himself and placed both hands on his gun.

"[Earth-rending bullet]."

A green light shot out and pierced the arm of the earth dragon. But at the moment Kai was suspended in the air, a huge roar was heard and accompanying that was a breath attack made of wind. Kai was caught off-guard and was hit by a tornado-like breath attack. Though it was true that Kai's body was sturdy, a breath attack from a dragon was stronger than an S-class mage's average attack.

Kai grit his teeth and got out of the breath attack as soon as he could. Parts of his clothes were ripped apart and his back had cuts and wounds all over. But it wasn't over, as soon as Kai faced the wind dragon, the water dragon which was near it also launched a breath attack, a stream of high pressured water caused blood to rise in Kai's throat but he swallowed it down. Unfortunately, the fire and earth dragon also took that as timing.

A breath attack filled with dust and pieces of rock began to rip into Kai's skin and then the searing hot flames burned him.

Kai roared as blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. He used all of his power to resist the fource of the four breath attacks and disappeared using darkness. He reappeared under a dragon's shadow and immediately began to heal himself. A normal person would have long since passed out from the pain but luckily, Kai's body and mind were strong. His body was tougher than steel- no, that was a huge understatement, his body was tougher than even tungsten and titanium by many times over.

His wounds began to heal at a visible pace and spat out the black blood in his mouth. He glared at the dragons in the air then pointed his sharp gaze towards the wind and water dragons on the floor.

"I'll start with them."
