《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 151: Ganging Up on One Enemy

The blue rose petals whistled through the air, Kai immediately created a barrier to protect everyone and removed his guns, they weren't fast enough to hit the petals. Arata chipped in by adding several layers of his own outside of Kai's barrier. It took less than a second for the hundred petals to arrive and attack Arata's barriers.
CRACK SHATTER
Arata's barrier broke one after another, they only lasted an instant against the petals without stopping any of them. Kai's barrier was next, it stopped the first few petals before cracking and following the same fate as Arata's barriers. Kai quickly created another barrier to which Kazuki followed up.
"[Rising Wind]!"
Kazuki yelled and summoned wind from below in an attempt to blow them all away but to no avail. The petals pierced through Kai's barrier with only ten or so being stopped.
"[Ice Wall]!"
Erina shouted and summoned a thick wall of ice to block the petals. Kai didn't specialize in barriers and Erina's mastery over ice was better and because of that, it stopped fifty petals before breaking down. With only thirty or so petals left, Kai leapt forward with a sword that had appeared in his hands at some point in time.
"[Reflect]!"
A strange sight, all of the rose petals that were heading towards them quickly changed direction and headed for the Immortal.
"Hm?"
Seeing this, the Immortal raised his brows. He swiped his fingers to the left and the petals that were heading towards them quickly shot towards the wall and embedded themselves.
"Magic that controls other magic? In all my years, I've never seen this done successfully. Did you find the secrets of the high elves and somehow manage to put their theory into practice?"
As expected of someone who's lived an insanely long time, he even knew about the extinct high elves. There are few elves in this world mostly because elves live long and don't see the need to produce more than one or two offspring. Unlike humans, they also don't find much pleasure in the act. Cross-breeding with other races was also frowned upon because elves had a superiority complex, it wasn't without basis because a single matured elf would probably be as strong as S-class and when counting the numbers who reached maturity, there were evidently a lot more S-class than the human race.
High elves had even less numbers and in the end, had gone extinct during a large-scale invasion. They had superior power and knowledge compared to other races and had knowledge that even the most ancient of races didn't know about. They also researched about reflecting magic but before it could be completed, they were invaded and all of the copies were burned down to prevent them from leaking. The Immortal lived during this time and even he felt that it was a pity.

"Let's see to what extent you've mastered their technique."
Seeing as how Kai didn't answer him, he immediately attacked. Three blue roses appeared between his fingers, he threw the roses at Kai with insane speed, it wasn't just physical force, he also used magic to accompany the attack.
"[Reflect]!"
The roses stayed still for an instant before going back to the Immortal at an even faster speed.
"I see, then..."
The Immortal raised his both his arms and a giant ball of flame appeared. Many small balls of flames rotated around the giant ball of flame that to Kai and the others, looked like the sun. The room around them was melting and even Erina who was almost not affected by heat and cold was sweating.
"Oi, the power behind that thing is no joke..."
Kazuki looked at the sun-like ball of flame in disbelief.
"Sir Kai..."
Heliana couldn't help but look at Kai for help. None of them would be able to last an instant against an attack like that but even they could feel that this casual attack of the Immortal was stronger than even S-class.
"Reo!"
All of a sudden, violet smoke appeared and went into Kai's orifices.
"A spirit?"
The Immortal furrowed his brows and expanded the sun further. Then, he pointed at Kai with his hand, the sun followed his orders and traveled towards Kai.
"[Spirit Form: Blaze-rending Palms]!"
Although Reo was of the darkness attribute, just his mana alone was enough to make Kai SS-class.
Kai clapped his hands together and pushed them out to form a blue beam of light. Not just one palm which he normally uses, he was using both palms together. This wasn't simply adding up the power, it amplified it.
"Erina!"
"Yes!"
Using the opportunity that Kai gave, Erina appeared at the side of Fate and created spears of ice that burst out from the floor, each tip was coated in Green Ki but to others, there was nothing different. The Immortal didn't expect it and had his cheek grazed by one of the spears but the rest were destroyed.
"You...!"
Just as Fate was about to use his eyes to attack Erina, Kazuki and Arata appeared at the other side, Arata used the stone to wrap Immortal's arm and Kazuki aimed a slash at his neck. Needless to say, they only delayed the Immortal for an instant, Kazuki's attack didn't connect as the Immortal let out a burst of mana to knock them both away.
Just as they were knocked away, a shadow appeared beneath the Immortal's gaze.
"[Light Thrusts]!"
Heliana's rapier became covered in light and with insane speed, attacked the Immortal all over. Though she normally never displays it, she's still an A-class, someone on par with Erina in terms of power.

Each hit attacked a vital point but none of those hits did any damage, they didn't even make the Immortal flinch. All it did was split his focus, right now, he was looking at Kai and relied on his senses to feel the others' presences. Kai made it look like it wasn't taking effect but the Immortal knew Kai was simply resisting it. But this isn't the extent of the power of his innate ability, it was something that even enemies on the same level needed to fear. Kai expended a huge amount of mana to resist this effect but ever since Kai assimilated with Reo and fired two beams from his hands to block the sun-like ball of flame, he stopped using mana to protect himself and focused on the Immortal's attack.
Yoko took the opportunity provided by the Immortal's focus on Heliana as the moment to appear under his shadow and aimed a strike at the Immortal's neck. This had more killing power than Kazuki's attack and could instantly kill an A-class who's unguarded but to the Immortal, it had the same result as Heliana's attack.
Normally, water suppressed flames so Date or Umi could do well here but the reason Kai didn't allow them to participate was because the Immortal used flames but...
"Everyone, get back!"
Without questioning him, they all used their speed to travel behind Kai. The distance of a throne room wasn't much to C-class and anyone above them, Erina and Heliana got back right after Yoko who prided herself in speed in a second or two. The rest weren't slow but Erina and the others were still faster.
"HAAAAAA!"
Seeing as how everyone was safe around him, he roared and the beams in his hand became thicker and stronger. Nobody could believe the amount of mana Kai was using right now. He almost only used Rend as instant attacks and the power behind each of them was frightening but to think Kai could actually turn them into beams and with an even stronger was insane!
With the strengthening of the beams, the sun finally lost its power and was pierced through by Kai's spirit form rend. If Kai used darkness to match Reo's attribute then his power would be many times stronger but darkness was weak to light and slightly disadvantaged against fire.
Of course, if darkness and fire were on the same level, darkness would never lose as it was stronger than the four basic elements but since Kai was several times weaker than the Immortal, he needed every advantage he could get.
The beams, after piercing through the sun and dispersing it, shot towards the Immortal but just as it was about to hit him, the floor rose and blocked the water beams. Although it wasn't really made of water, it still had the water attribute and using the floor laced with the earth attribute, they couldn't do anything.
"Dual attributes?!"
Arata yelled out as he saw the floor being raised by magic.
"No, not dual attributes."
Of course, why would the Immortal who's lived for thousands of years only have two attributes when Kai took control of all the elements when he was a child?
"No way..."
"Are you serious...?"
Kazuki and Arata muttered in disbelief as they saw the floor going down after Kai's attack. Six balls of elements rolled around him. Light, darkness, fire, earth, water, air all circled around him as if he was the absolute master of these elements.
Kai scoffed.
"Do you think you're the only one?"
Kai imitated the Immortal's way of intimidating them. Lowering the target's morale was also an tactic for his innate ability. If the enemy has low morale, he could easily conquer their hearts using 『Anguish』 but Kai countered his tactic of intimidation by using the same thing.
This boy... he is knowledgeable about my ability.
When one encounters his innate ability, they would think that it inflicted pain through sight but that was it but it appeared Kai knew the conditions for it and countered them well.
The wound on the Immortal's cheek began to heal itself. Too much time passed since he was struck and Erina's Green Ki was far too weak but a lethal thrust would definitely be enough.
Does that mean he also knows that I am at my weakest?
Fate furrowed his brows. The man in front of him not only knew where he was going to attack, he also knew how and on top of that, he also knew about his ability. Then, does he also know about Fate's secret?
Although he was at his weakest, he was still above SS-class. He had power tens of times higher than Kai but why is it that he couldn't gain any ground?
Could I be weakened more than I thought?
Tracing this line of thought, Fate glared at Kai to which the latter responded with a smirk. That had confirmed all of his suspicions. All of this was because of him.
"This brat...!"
Enraged, Fate's mana erupted and covered the room which broke it apart; forcing everyone to retreat outside.
"I'll show you the consequences of angering me!"
