《The subtle World of Terraria》1-8. Time to work (Arc 1: Terraria Problems - Finish)

*Evan POV*
A smile formed on my face and I couldn’t do anything about it.
[What type of guns do you have?] (Me)
I said, barely holding my excitement back.
[Only two defferent types off ‘em, a flentlock and a boomstik] (Arnold)
All my hope went up in flames.
I wanted the musket those guards had. And the ones he’s selling are the worst types of guns in the game. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.
[How much money for them?] (Me)
[Ten selver for the flentlock and fefty for the boomstik] (Arnold)
I looked at him in disbelief, my hands moved on their own and slammed on the counter.
[I know it's a lot bet it's viry hard to mak'em and I'm not teh negoteachtor type.] (Arnold)
THATS FLIPPEN DIRT CHEAP!!!!!
A Flintlock is a few gold's worth pistol! It sucks ass but that's not the point of it! and the boomstick is a sawed off shotgun that can only be found in small temples deep underground in the Jungle! It’s not that good but It’s a hell of a powerful gun with the right type of ammo!
Some amount of silver coins is Dirt Cheap for These!
Okay. I need to calm down, can’t make him think I’m excited otherwise he’s going to raise the prices, I just know it.
I should act uninterested in the guns for now to throw him off my tail. Negotiation is a battle of the mind, tongue and coin. And I can’t afford to lose.
Since I only got like 2 gold coins.
[Okay, So, What's the best bow you got?] (Me)
[Platenum bow. Theng of beauty. 10 gold coens no roem for bargainen.]
I don’t remember how much the Platinum bow is worth for but 10 gold is too expensive. It is however a pretty dam good bow. If I can’t get the Platinum tier bow hen let’s go for a tier below that.
[What about a gold bow?] (Me)
[8 gold coens] (Arnold)
[Thungsten bow?] (Me)
[2 gold coens] (Arnold)
[Silver bow?] (Me)
[1 gold coen] (Arnold)
[Why are the gold and platinum bow so expensive?] (Me)
Wait, shouldn't I be asking why the bows cost more than the guns?
[Only fer reyalty rookie. Can't de anyting about it sorry.] (Arnold)
[It's fine, but why do the bows cost more than the guns?] (Me)
He raised his eyebrow as he looked at me suspiciously.
[Teh guns thake less matterials.] (Arnold)
......That's the reason?
Wait how did you make guns anyway? Most guns are Un-craftable in terraria, Please don’t tell me I need to learn actual smiting if I want to make a gun here.
[I remember you said something about magic weapons too?] (Me)
[Gemstone Staff percicely. Very expensive. Evan the chiepest is abeve a gold coen.] (Arnold)
[Hmm] (Me)
I placed my hand on my chin.
My gamer mind was active again as I started thinking of my choices.
I have a total of 2 gold coins and 39 silver I don't need the Flintlock pistol, that's a waste of space and money. And I also have to think about the cost of ammo.
The gemstone staff are out of the question they're way too expensive. The boomstick is nice for now but not enough firepower.
Hmm…
Wait. I'm thinking of this as a game. But I forgot! This isn't Terraria! Just something similar to it......
I need to think outside the box then.
I don’t really need a melee weapon, as long as I can kill my targets from far away then I should be good. My main tactic should be to keep my enemies away from me and kill them from afar. but there’s always the chance they can come near me no matter how careful I am. I learned that after I fought the zombies the night before.
Hmm… What should I do?
…
Alright, I’ve decided.
[Okay I want 2 boomsticks and a silver bow.] (Me)
I can dual equip the boomsticks and that should take care of fire power in case any enemy wants to get close and personal, while the bow can help me take care of anyone far away. The wooden bow I have is extremely unreliable as It can’t shoot far. The silver bow however can shoot twice as far compared to the wooden one.
He was shocked and went wide eye.
[Rooke, ya sure ya can afferd thet?] (Arnold)
[Oh I'm very sure.] (Me)
I placed 2 gold coins on the counter and then I saw a giant smile come ot his face.
[Hehaha! Okey then pleze wait a moment!] (Arnold)
Oh, he’s exited…… wait why is he so excited, did I lose the negotiation war?
He quickly ran to the back door. After a little while, he came back with all the things I asked for. 2 sawed off shotguns and a silver bow. He also had a small pouch with him.
Boomstick:
Damage: 14
Critical chance: 4%
Knockback: strong
Use time: very slow
Tooltip: consumes 1 musket ball to fire 4 bullets in a spread.
Quick Silver bow:
Damage: 9
Critical chance: 4%
Knockback: none
Use time: above Average
Quick: +10% speed
The pouch contained 50 musket balls and 50 wooden arrows.
[Teh pouch is a gift fer yer fine paternage!] (Arnold)
[Nice, Thanks Arnold! But I still need more ammo.] (me)
He made a sly face
[U'll have ta buy more then.] (Arnold)
Well business is business in the end.
[Give me musket balls for 10 silver.] (Me)
I don't need arrows, I can make them on my own for the cheap price of wood and stone.
[Alreght!] (Arnold)
He went back through the door and came back with a large pouch.
It contained 500 musket balls.
Well that should be good enough for now. Even though its a total of 550 bullets, you run out pretty quickly in an expert World.
[Thanks Arnold I'll see you again some other time.] (Me)
[See ya later rookie, don't die!] (Arnold)
I waved him a goodbye
Let's see......I have 29 silver left now.
…I really need the money somehow. I can always kill monsters to get a quick buck but if it was the real life I would have to find a job.
Wait hold on, Didn’t I just become an adventurer and now have access to several guild quests? If I do them then I should be able to get a quick buck.
You know what? I’m going to do one or two of them right now.
I feel insecure having less than 50 silver coins and it would help during any kind of emergency.
Obviously, I’ll only do the adventurer quest, if I can complete them in few hours.
I went straight to the first floor and suddenly there's a busy line occupying liza. She's just giving them a cold stare and answered when needed too. I ignored them and went straight to the mission board.
Let's see....
Find lost amulet......
Guard duty......
Guard caravan.....
Monster hunting......
Wait... Monster hunting?
I looked back at the paper.
Monster hunting: I'm the owner of "hare's leg" and we're running out of slime gel. We need it as fuel. We will pay 10 copper for every slime gel we get.
Deadline: 5 days. (4 days left)
Please bring the paper to front desk to accept the quest.
This seems easy and its perfect time too. Right now it's around 7 or 8 am. Slimes starts coming out during the day time which would be now. now. But killing a slime alone is worth's 1 silver coin....oh well selling a gel to the NPC counts as 1 copper so this is 10 times its original sell value. But not enough to get me to leave.

Oh there’s a herbs gathering request too.
Herb gathering: I’m the alchemist in town and always need extra Ingredients for potion crafting. I will pay 1 silver for any alchemical ingredient you may give me from the included list below.
-Daybloom.
-Red Mushroom.
-Glowing mushroom.
-Blinkroot.
-Waterleaf.
-Shiverthorn.
-Deathweed.
I will pay extra for seeds of the repective ingredients as well.
Deadline: not specified.
Warning: PLEASE DO NOT RIP THIS QUEST PAPER OFF THE QUEST BOARD. ANYONE CAN DO THIS QUEST IF THEY KNOW HOW TO HARVEST ALCHEMICAL INGREDIENTS.
Okay, I like that. Most of those ingredients are found in other biomes, but I can easily find daybloom and red mushrooms growing in the wild, and since the seeds will pay extra, I can easily get back the 2 gold coins I spent here.
I took the slimes hunting quest and stood in line like the rest of the adventurers. Seems like I need Liza permission before I can do these quests. Liza saw and hurried with the rest of the adventurers in front of me before it was finally my turn.
[What can I do for you Evan.] (Liza)
She smiled so brightly that I could hear gasps from behind they probably didn't think Liza could look like such an angel.
[I want to accept this mission!] (Me)
Liza looked at the paper before turning serious and looking at me again.
[Are you sure Evan? Most beginners die to the slimes. And they are a formidable foe for Rookies.] (Liza)
Yea, one almost killed me too.
[I’ve fought them before and trust me when I say that I can handle them!] (Me)
I gave a big smile to let her go of her worries.
She sighed.
[Well I can't change your decision anyway so I might as well help you. If you're going for the slimes then try going out from the East gate. It's much flatter than the other gates and it was complained to have the most slimes as well.] (Liza)
[Thanks Liza! That was very helpful.]
I walked away.
[Bye then!] (Me)
I waved one last time and she also waved back with a smile on her face.
Now, I do want to go to the East gate but since the library was right beside the Adventurer guilds place, I went there first. It’s like 7 or 8 in the morning right now I can afford to slack off a little bit.
As I went inside there was an old lady at the counter to my left and in front of me were just bookshelves filled to the brim with books. The old lady was wearing glasses, unlike me who wears large goggles, her glasses were pretty small. She had gray hair and tons of wrinkles on her face.
[Oh, I don’t generally see a young boy coming here. Hello and how can I help you boy?] She said in such a fragile voice that I felt guilty for letting her talk.
[Well I want know more about this kingdom.] (Me)
After hearing my words, She slowly nodded as she licked her lips and pointed with trembling fingers.
[Over there in that corner. You will find what you need, Boy.]
[Thank you very much.] (Me)
I went to read the book quickly before I felt like punching myself because of the guilt.
There were windows here so the sunrays fell onto the reading table in such a way that it felt like I was watching a painting. I went to the bookshelf and looked for books regarding the geography of this kingdom and any nearby kingdoms as well.
I rummaged through the books and.....
"Geography of the human kingdom."
Well there it is I guess
I wanted to grab the book and just as I touched it a prompt appeared.
*Do you want to learn "Geography of the human kingdom"?*
..... Is this because I'm the hero of skill?
Dam these heroes are way too overpowered.
Yes, I want to learn.
*You have learned "Geography of the human kingdom". Your map has been updated.*
I checked out my map and it now showed pretty much everything inside the Kingdom. It showed me where all the restaurants were and where all the housing areas, inn's and slums were.
There was also a castle in the north section of the kingdom, I saw that from far away when I was coming here, but you can't see it from inside this kingdom because of the large number of houses that blocks your view.
The east section of this kingdom is also a poor and slums area. That is from where I have to go out too huh.
I closed the map and looked for some more books.
"Hunting Techniques"
Learn
*Skill obtained: Peek*
Peek: Will always show Life bar of every entity in sight lines.
Nice.
"Mana Controlling Magic"
Learn
*Skill unlocked: Magic skill imbuement*
Magic skill imbuement (lvl:1): Use either a magic weapon or a magic skill to imbue that power on to a skill.
Cost: 10% more mana of the skill used
Cooldown: n/a
....I have to try that out.
What else.... Let's see.
There were books mainly about crafting things, alchemy and things like that.
Oh, a cooking guide
Learn
*You can now craft more different types of Foods*
…
Hold The Flippen Phone.
I can upgrade my crafting system too?
Why is that possible?
Well dam. I mean I’ll take it but it’s really weird.
The sun was still high up, so I just decided to leave for now.
[Boy.] The old woman held out her trembling hand
[What is it?] (Me)
[Fee of 10 silver for every visit.] She made a crafty face.
Huh?
[But you didn't say that before.] (Me)
[If I did say that, then you would've left. Right?] (Old woman)
Sly! This woman is too Sly! Give me back the concern I had for you Bitch!
[Fine, here you go.] (Me)
I already learned a lot. But I also left a lot unread, I’ll come by here again after I make some coin and then I’m going to read every single book in that library. The sun is still high up so I shouldn’t waste any more time.
The old woman was visually surprised at me for just giving her the money.
[Won't you stay here longer?] (Old woman)
[Hm? I already found the things I needed to know. My business here is done.] (Me)
[Yea, but you can read other books?] (Old woman)
[Nah, I've got other things that I have to do right now.] (Me)
[Well...... Alright then.] (Old woman)
[By the way what's upstairs?] (Me)
[More advanced books but the fee is also more.] (Old woman)
[Well, okay then, bye bye] (me)
I left and headed towards the east gate.
*3rd person POV*
A few minutes after Evan left a group of shady characters went inside the library.
[Where is the silver-haired boy?] When of them said. he had a scar on his left eye and Amber colored eyes.
[Just left some time ago. Was in a hurry.] (Old woman)
[GOD DAMN IT WOMAN! WHY DIDNT YOU STOP HIM!] (Guy with the scar)
He punched through a bookcase.
The old woman didn't even flinch at the exchange and looked at the guy with cold eyes.
[That's 10 gold coins Boy, and he left because of some business.] (old woman)
[Tch.] (Guy with the scar)
They quickly left in search of Evan.
[All the youngsters don't have respect for their elderly now. But that Demi human was nice. I hope he survives these cultists.] The old woman said before coughing loudly.

Man of Earth
Magic is a terrifying force. Logic itself is subject to this energy, which is (logically speaking) impossible for us to comprehend. Every universe requires some version of magic to exist. That is, all but one. Our world functiouns based on a powerful and intricate net of laws that act independently from magical interference. The most notable of these is the human brain, which is capable of even more than its creator had thought possible. Naturally, this prompted the question: "How would a human fare in a world of magic?" Soon, there was a bet. Next, a human was selected. Finally, an odd young man with a strange black hat was introduced to his new world, and all restraints were removed.
