*Luna POV*

Mama brought me down on her back in this dark tunnel along with Reid who was holding onto my father.

It was dark here, the only light was a floating orb of light that Mama casted before. In the silence, we could only hear papa groan every now and then.

My body was slowly getting its energy back and I’m sure that pretty soon I would be able to move again.

[I'm really glad you're here Reid.] (Mother)

I looked over to Reid and he looked at the ground, defeated.

[I don't know, your highness... I promised I would get you three to safety but here I am. Bringing his Highness on my back with a giant wound on his shoulder.] (Reid)

Reid looked down casted.

I wanted to say something but Mama said first.

[But without your help we wouldn't be alive right now.] (Mother)

Reid let go a sigh before smiling a bit.

[Thank you for believing in me your Highness.] (Reid)

The silence persisted again for another minute.

[Hey Reid?] (Queen)

[Yes, your highness?] (Reid)

[Do you like Luna?] (Queen)

Huh?

Wait! Mama, What Are You Saying!?

[Of course, I like Luna.] (Reid)

WAIT! REID WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!?

My face turned red I wanted to say something but all that came out of my mouth was some blabberings.

[I was a sole child, but I’ve been with Luna since childhood, and now I see her as my younger sister, so of course I like her.] (Reid)

My good mood was destroyed.

[Oh.] (Me)

I said disheartened.

[Looks like you have a long way to go Luna.] (Mama)

Mama said while chuckling

WAIT! DOES MAMA KNEW ABOUT MY SECRET?!

[Hm? For what?] (Reid)

[I-Its Nothing!] (Me)

I quickly said flustered.

[Oh, alright then.] (Reid)

I whispered into my mother's ears

[H-How did you know?] (Me)

She gave another small chuckle and whispered back.

[You look at Reid the same way I used to look at you papa.] (Queen)

[Huh?] (Me)

[I've known about it for a long time. but your papa is such an idiot he hasn't realized it yet.] (Mama)

Papa sneezed.

I felt so embarrassed that I just hid my face on her back.

I think I was really tired so I half-slept until I heard Reid’s voice again after some time.

[We've almost reached the end of the tunnel.] (Reid)

I slowly woke up and looked ahead of mama. I saw a light piercing inside this dark tunnel from ahead of us.

[Hopefully, the horses are back by now. The ones that were lent to Mia's parents.] (Reid)

We slowly went outside and the sunlight hurt my eyes.

I looked around and we were in a forest. There were bushes and large grass everywhere. I looked behind and the tunnel behind us was hidden by vines. I looked ahead and there were two white horses in front of us.

[Looks like the horses came back safely.] (Reid)

[Yes.] (Mother)

Reid and mother both sounded relieved. I felt relieved too. At least some of our kind survived.

Mama took me and sat on one of the horse, My body was still a little limp so mother took the reins. Papa was still unconscious so Reid gently made him sit in front of him on the horse so he doesn’t fall down.

Reid took out some long capes from the bags attached to the horse and passed some to us, signalling us to wear them.

[We have to separate now. They can easily spot us if we're together. I will bring his highness to the Elven kingdom and borrow some medicines for his health. You should go to the recently developed human kingdom and ask for help and then wait for us there.] (Reid)

My mother nodded with a strict face.

[Please take care of my husband.] (Mother)

Mother sounded sad but held herself upright. Is this what she meant when she told me that all queens have to make tough decisions? In comparison, I… no, I shouldn’t think about it.

[Be assured. I will not let any harm come to his highness and use everything at my disposal, even dirty tactics if I must.] (Reid)

Reid paused for a moment before he looked at me.

[Luna, I guess this is goodbye for now. Take care of yourself, okay.] (Reid)

My eyes started to water a little bit.

[*Sniff* yeah, take care.*Sniff*] (Me)

I couldn’t help it. No matter how much I tried tears slowly welled up in my eyes as my voice begin to crack up.

My mother looked back at me with a motherly gaze.

[Luna, do you want to go with Reid?] (Mother)

I looked at my mother with tears in my eyes. I wanted to say that I wanted to but I was using everything in my power to not cry.

Mother didn’t wait for me to say anything and quickly said.

[Okay! It's decided Reid you bring Luna to the human kingdom and I will bring my husband to the elven kingdom. I have connections with the current Elven queen in charge and I heard that the recently developed Human Kingdom is governed by a teenager. So, he or she might listen to Luna more than me.] (Mother)

Reid looked a little bit taken back but quickly put a hand on his chest.

[Your wish is my command your highness.] (Reid)

After saying that he quickly got off the horse and came to me. Mother quickly dismounted the horse and Reid took the reins. I hugged him from the back so I wouldn’t fall down but at the same time. I couldn't help but blush again.

[Alright your highness, we will meet you again in the Human Kingdom.] (Reid)

Mama nodded to Reid before looking back at me.

[Luna remember I know you feel down, but I'm so proud of how selfless you were today. Don’t beat yourself down for the tragedy that befell today. Pick yourself up and prepare for a new dawn.] (Mother)

She said almost as if she knew that I couldn’t forgive myself for sleeping while my fellow friends and family were killed. She then smiled and said with the bottom of her heart.

[You would make a great Queen.] (Mother)

Reid also nodded

[Yes, she will] (Reid)

It felt like my heart jumped up to my throat. I couldn’t say anything beside nodded as tears fell from my eyes.

Mama mounted the horse where were my father was and waved goodbye one last time before going off into the distance.

I couldn’t help but tear up again.

[Hold on tight, little princess] (Reid)

[yes.] (Me)

I said as I resigned my body to Reid’s back.

So much happened today that my brain can’t keep up. I tear up the moment I think about the lives lost today so I stopped doing that for now. Until we get to a safe spot where both Reid and I can relax, only then will I let my guard down. But until then I had to steel myself and bear the pain.

[Heeyaa!] (Reid)

Reid swung the reins down and the horse started running.

*A Few hours later*

We took a small detour along the way to shake off any pursuers just in case they were searching for us.

We finally saw the human kingdom in the distance. We both looked a little suspicious because our bodies and face were hidden beneath the hooded cape but I think we will be fine. During the horse ride, my legs had also gotten their strength back and I could move if need be.

[That's the East section of the kingdom.] (Reid)

It was still quite far away since from where we were, I could only see a large wall surrounding the kingdom.

Just as I finally thought we were safe. I heard the galloping of horses behind us.

[There they are!!] (???)

I heard someone shouting from really far away and my heart tightened with fear again. I looked behind us and saw the attackers from before coming after us from a hill far away.

Reid Groaned in annoyance.

[Urgh! These guys just won’t give up!] (Reid)

There were too many. If they follow us to the Human Kingdom… I don’t know if they will help us or give us to our pursuers. We haven’t met the King or queen of this kingdom either so they’re not obliged to help us fend off a large army either.

The more I thought about it, the grimmer the situation became.

It seems like Reid was thinking about it too.

[Okay Luna I'm going to create a diversion and make them follow me. I doubt the Humans will help us right now, So you need to go inside the kingdom and wait for me there.] (Reid)

[Bu-] (Me)

[Please Luna! I have a plan. I will lose them in the forest south of here! I promise I will come back to you so please do what I ask of you.] (Reid)

I hesitantly nodded.

We went near the Eastern gate and there were 2 guards there.

[Halt! State your business!] (Guard 1)

[Please I beg you! Please just let my sister enter inside otherwise our pursuers will kill her!] (Reid)

We were far away from our attackers that they wouldn’t notice the small exchange that was happening here. That and if the guards don’t think I’m someone important then they might sympathize and let me in easily.

The guards looked at me then looked at each other before they looked behind us to see a large group of enemies coming here.

They were hesitant.

[I will drag them away just please let my sister hide inside.] (Reid)

They looked at each other and nodded.

[Alright we'll let the girl in] (guard 1)

Reid motioned me to get off and I quickly got off. I ran inside before looking back at Reid.

[You must come back!] (Me)

[I Promise!] (Reid)

he said before he galloped away.

[Your brother is really brave.] (Guard 2)

[Go inside and hide somewhere! We still can’t stop those people from getting in if they have the right paperwork.] (Guard 1)

I nodded and ran inside before looking back at Reid one final time. I saw him galloping away into the wilderness as all the pursuers chased after him.

Worry immediately filled my heart as I couldn’t help but mutter in a quiet voice.

[You must come back.] (Me)

I looked around and it seems like I’m in the slums of this kingdom. I went inside found an empty alleyway, Ran inside and hid. sitting behind a stack of wooden boxes, clutching onto my robes to calm myself down. I waited.

Minutes turned into hours. Fear was clutching my heart.

He will come back! I'm sure!

My stomach growled as I finally noticed the hunger I had.

I have not eaten anything since the morning and it's almost night time.

More hours passed away and it's night time already.

Tiredness finally hit me as I laid down on the cold hard floor, using the hooded cloak as my bed sheet.

I'm sure he's okay! He's probably taking a detour. Yea, that's right, a detour!

I was so tired that the second I laid down, I pretty much passed out.

I was trapped with fire surrounding me.

Reid was in front of me, screaming at me to run away.

But he didn't see the enemy behind him as he was going towards Reid.

I tried to warn Reid but my voice wouldn't come out.

Until a sword was pierced through Reid.

[NOOO!!!] (Me)

I screamed as I woke up on the hard ground with sweat on me.

The alleyway was still empty.

I placed my hands on my heart to try and calm it down as my breathing became ragged.

Just a nightmare. It hasn't happened in reality. It was only a nightmare.

I tried to console myself but ended up crawling into a ball and crying slowly.......

It's was almost night time again. Reid hasn't come back yet.

I'm very hungry and very thirsty.

I stood up unsteadily to look for some food.

Children were running around and some had food with them.

I tried to call them but my voice wouldn't come out. I tried to walk to them but even walking was hard until I bumped into someone. I didn't have any strength in me so I fell in the small mud puddle. I wanted to cry again but I didn't have the strength.

[Oi! are you Okay!?] (???)

I looked and It was the guard from before.

[Please.........anything..........I just need some.......food.] (me)

[You're from before! Hey, Are you okay?!] (Guard)

I didn't have the energy to stand up.

[Wait, hold on, here, I have some bread with me.] (Guard)

He handed me a half-eaten bread and I snatched it before eating it with muddy hands while still lying down. After I ate it tiredness came over me and I collapsed there.

I woke up in the same alleyway where I slept before. This time there was a water bottle right beside me. I drunk it greedily and after that, I had some energy and stood up.

Has Reid came here yet?

I should’ve asked the guard from before but I couldn’t.

Maybe reid… No! I refuse to believe it! He’s still alive I’m sure of it!

I started walking towards the Eastern gate. The place from where I got in here.

The guards must know if he came right? They must know.

I walked a bit and just as I saw the eastern gate, I saw someone familiar looking at it as well.

My heart came to my throat. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t.

I couldn’t even call him out normally. There was no strength in my body and I was too emotional to say anything.

[.......reid?] (Me)

I said with all my strength and my voice barely came out.

But he still looked back. And I recognized his face immediately.

It's Him!

He was wearing glasses of some kind but it was really Him!

[REID!!!!] (Me)

All my worries left my body as I started crying again. My body felt reinvigorated as I ran up to him and hugged him.
