Prologue - The End of the Beginning

This is the story of the boy who lost himself and everything he called his own in the world.

I am probably what is called the narrator of this story and I will therefore accompany you reader on this journey of that fate that did everything to defy the rules that were once considered fundamental. Even though I no longer have a name, you can call me D for simplicity's sake.

Although this book mainly shows his perspective, I would like, for the sake of my nature, to show you more than what human existence is capable of perceiving. But wait, he's coming.

My name is Alexander but everyone who knows me just calls me Alex. I was told I should do this to free myself from all my worries and burdens. To be honest I don't even know what exactly this is supposed to be. But that shouldn't bother you at first.

Even though my name may remind you of a great famous ruler, I never had the desire for such a position. I've always been of the withdrawn kind as I tend to loathe social interaction.

Very different from my little sister Tetra, who can't stop closing her mouth once it's open. Yes, I know the name is quite unusual for this area and maybe also this time, but nobody asked me for advice on the naming either.

Anyway, my sister seems to get along with anyone but me. Still, I've always had the feeling that this will change.
