《Welcome to the Aurora Wasteland》License and Grey Matter Please

I’m going to tell you a story
It’s going to involve a train that never comes
And the difficulties people have to face for being who they are
Oh and maybe a hint of human guise
Welcome to the Aurora Wasteland
Everyone has their own way to get over difficult days; some people like to drink, some like to hang out with friends, others prefer sex, and some… well... they like all of the above. Such was the case with Bobby V., or Lady Killer as he preferred to be called, though only in the context of women, at work he preferred the Bank Killer or Client Killer, where at home he just preferred Killer, though it was a self-given nickname that no one used except him.
Bobby V. had a bad day. Which led to asking one of his work subordinates out for drinks. Just drinks, he had said, more than once. Though knowing the person he asked, more than just drinks was always an option, or so he’d heard from others around the office.
Mackey P., as Bobby V. liked to refer to her as was said drinking buddy on this particular night. Mackey, to be blunt, loved to bang. Her number of sexual partners, both male and female, was… well, high… she’d used sex to get most of what she’d gotten in life. So, while going out with Bobby for drinks wasn’t her idea of a good night, the fall out of it should lead to a great career boost. Understandably, Bobby wasn’t thinking about that now, he’d just been reamed out by his bosses boss, needed a drink, and was thinking with the wrong head now that Mackey was involved.
After work, the night out started at Hooters, where Mackey made fun of Bobby for picking as she put it, “a family chain restaurant with sex theme.” And while the grilled cheese had been good, Mackey made the second selection of the night. A strip club named “The Holy Boulders,” which was formerly a church, was now a strip club, though it kept the pew in place for patron seating. After having many boobs rubbed in her face, as bought by Bobby, Mackey agreed to perform certain mouth centered sexual acts on him.
They each took a few final shots, then sprinted out to Bobby’s car, laughing and tickling each other along the way. Once inside, Mackey agreed that Bobby’s place should be their next destination for the night.
So under the influence of alcohol and the promise of oral sex, Bobby started driving them back to his place.
At each light, he’d grab her thigh and try and convince her that maybe they should just pull over here for a quickie. Mackey declined the offer, though she had done that exact thing on this exact road only a few weeks before. And while normally she’d take him up on that offer, she wanted him to remember tonight when she inevitably came back at him for that promotion, or whatever she wanted.
Only minutes from Bobby’s place, they were forced to stop at a train crossing. Bobby’s obvious frustration was showing through his pants. Mackey laughed when she noticed and turned up the radio.
A song titled ‘Beautiful’ by a band called Stellar filled the inside of Bobby’s car. Mackey smiled and unbuckled her seat belt, then the top button of her shirt. Bobby reached for her newly exposed skin, but Mackey swatted his hand away.
The flashing red lights of the train crossing arms flickered over Bobby’s face as he realized that no train had come yet.

Mackey undid another button, revealing her bright purple bra. Again Bobby reached. Again Mackey pushed him away. His pants were really stressing to keep his excitement hidden.
Frustrated and dying for the night to continue at his place, he pressed the gas pedal only slightly, there was obviously something wrong with the train crossing lights. They’d been sitting there for what felt like hours waiting to go. His plan had been to slip between the arms and then slip into Mackey’s pants. Only none of that was meant to be.
The red lights of the train crossing mixed with blue, and Bobby took his foot off the gas. He glanced from Mackey’s bra to the rearview mirror. A police car with flashing blue lights stared back at him. Millions of thoughts rushed through his foggy mind, was he going to get a ticket? What if he was arrested? Maybe he could flirt his way out of it. He was the Lady Killer after all.
Mackey leaned over and kissed him, her hand grazing his thigh. She told him to be good, and that she couldn’t get in trouble so he had better end whatever this was quickly.
End it quickly? What was Mackey talking about? Her lips lingered on his, then she licked him. “Quickly,” she repeated.
Bobby wanted to ask what she was worried about? What she was hiding from? But the only thing he could get say was that she was white, so she’d be ok. She stared at him confused, and reminded him that they were both white.
They both laughed, still obviously feeling the effects of the drinks at the strippers.
“Don’t worry,” Bobby told her, he drinks with all the cops around here. This will be over quickly.
As he turned to roll down his window, he was met with a forceful single knock on his car's window. Startled, Bobby rolled it down.
A face he didn’t recognize stared back at him. A woman’s. There were no lady cops here, he was sure he’d have heard about it.
The woman stared at him, flashlight in hand, and directed it in Bobby’s eyes. The red lights of the train crossing splashing over her skin. Neither of them spoke. There was a quiet anger in the woman’s eyes. Most cops had a chip on their shoulder, but this woman’s was massive. Without saying anything Bobby knew this woman hated him.
Finally she spoke, breaking the silence. “License and grey matter, please.”
Bobby said nothing and didn’t move. He simply stared at her.
“License and grey matter,” the woman repeated in the same flat tone.
Had she just asked for his grey matter? Like part of his brain? Confused, Bobby tried to speak but only stuttered.
Mackey said nothing, hoping that maybe she would just blend into the inside Bobby’s car. And as if the cop could read her mind, she flicked the flashlight over to Mackey. This made Mackey scream and claw for the door handle.
Bobby put a hand on her leg to calm her down. His finger dangerously close to her matching purple panties. Before he could get a word out to calm her, the cop grabbed him by the collar and introduced his nose to the steering wheel. Blood poured from his broken nose. The cop said nothing but shone the flashlight in his eyes.
Bobby again tried to speak, but nothing came out, the sight of his own blood had flummoxed him.
“Don’t touch her,” the cop warned him.

Bobby tried to say it was ok, that they were going back to his place to get naked and rub privates, but instead he just gurgled blood as the cop rammed his face into the steering wheel again.
After that all Bobby could get out were offensive gender slurs, threats of calling her superiors, and of course the always classic, “do you know who I am?” Nothing Bobby said mattered, the woman grabbed him by his thinning hair and pulled him out of the car through the window, kicking and screaming.
Mackey watched in horror, she wanted to help but she felt helpless. She thought about running, she could vanish down the train track. The crossing arms were still down, and still no train.
Bobby’s yelp pulled her back to what was happening. Mackey watched as the cop kicked Bobby in the balls over and over again. By the 5th or 6th time, he didn’t make any more noise. He just slid over to the cold pavement below him. His balls crescendoing in agony.
As Bobby’s head vanished from Mackey view, a small whimper escaped from her lips. She wanted to scream, she wanted to run away and forget what was happening was even possible. She badly wanted to be anywhere but here. As she reached for the door handle she subconsciously started buttoning her shirt up, which caught the attention of the police officer.
The cop told her to stop, and Mackey let go of the door but continued to button up. The cop repeated herself and Mackey looked down at her shirt. “Stop,” the cop repeated in a full voice.
Confused, Mackey froze. Did the cop really want her to leave her shirt unbuttoned? Before Mackey could speak the cop did. She told Mackey that she recognized her. From her videos.
Confused even further, Mackey asked, “what video?”
The cop laughed and slowly started to climb into the vehicle with her, leaving Bobby’s body out in the cold. “The naked ones you make, at your home. I believe you live on Aurora Drive, right Mackey?”
Mackey said nothing, she stared at the cop as she inched closer. How could the cop possibly know her name and where she lived?
“You’re very beautiful,” the cop continued. “Sometimes I...”
Mackey turned and tried the door handle. It didn’t move. She’d used it a half dozen times already tonight getting in and out of the car. Why wasn’t it working now? She checked the lock, it showed the door was unlocked. She tried the handle again. The door still didn’t open.
“Don’t worry,” the cop said as she brushed the hair from Mackey’s shoulder. “I just need to see your gray matter, and then I’ll be on my way.”
Flashbacks of high school flooded through her mind. Mackey remembered sitting in a boring biology class, wishing she was skipping with the cute girl in front of her. She remembered her teacher droning on about parts of the brain and that one of them was grey matter. Wait, was it a part of the brain? Or what the brain was made of? Either way, what this cop wanted wasn’t possible to give.
The cop placed her hand on Mackey’s leg, the same place Bobby had. The same place the cop had taken issue with. She tried to push her away but the cop was stronger than her. Mackey repeated “no” and “stop it”, over and over. The cop ignored her. In fact, she leaned in and licked Mackey's ear. Mackey tried to pull her head away, but then the cop held her tight. Licking. Deeper and deeper. Until pain shot through Mackey's ear.
She screamed, as the cop slid out of the car backwards to the cement below. Confused, Mackey leaned forward and found the cop on top of Bobby, who had pulled the cop out of the car, but also managed to trap himself under her.
Without hesitation the cop pulled her gun and fired a round into Bobby’s leg. He grunted and reached for his fresh wound. Blood poured from him to the pavement below.
Mackey stared in horror at Bobby, their eyes linked. Neither knew what to do next.
The train crossing continued to flash as no train continued to cross.
The cop smiled at Mackey, as she pressed the warm barrel of her gun against Bobby’s cheek. It wasn’t hot enough to burn him, but only just. The pain in his leg overshadowed all his other senses.
“License and grey matter please,” the cop repeated as she continued to smile at Mackey.
“What do you want?” Mackey wished she could yell. But she didn’t, with her eyes wide she said nothing.
The cop once again grabbed Bobby by the hair, this time she pulled him back into his vehicle. Blood dripping to the car mats below.
Once inside the cop thanked them both for their time, and returned to her cruiser, it was still flashing the blue lights.
Bobby fumbled for the keys, without saying a thing they both knew exactly what the other wanted, what the other needed. And that was to be anywhere but here right then. So Bobby reached for the keys, only to find they were missing. He panicked and checked the floor. Mackey was slipping into shock, and so just sat there. Her brain was misfiring. It was all too much to handle. Bobby yelled at her to look for the keys, to check her side. She could barely hear him, he sounded distant, like at the bottom of a well.
Despite what she was capable of admitting, Mackey already knew what was going to happen. Her brain knew it as well, the misfires were a way of protecting Mackey from figuring it out too.
A tap at Bobby’s window startled him, causing him to bang his head on the steering wheel.
“License and grey matter, please,” the woman cop repeated as she reached across Bobby, gun in hand, and fired a single shot into Mackey’s head. This action severed the disconnected thoughts Mackey’s brain was sending her. Now it was sending nothing.
The inside of Mackey’s head coated the inside of Bobby’s car.
Bobby screamed and reached for Mackey, whose head was gone, exploded from the weapon being discharged at such range.
The cop smiled, as she ran her fingers through some of Mackey's brain that was dripping from the car’s window. “Have a nice day,” she said to Bobby as she licked her fingers and returned to her vehicle.
Bobby watched as she got back in her vehicle, only to be distracted by the shake of a passing train. Bobby stared at the train cars as they went by. They were hypnotic. He glanced back at the police car, only to find it was gone.
Mackey dripped down the inside of the car, as the train crossing lights stopped and the crossing arms raised.
