《Cold Heart(Cancelled)》(V2)Chapter Sixteen: Broken Past #2

Another nightmare woke me up instantly from screaming that was heard coming from outside my room, screams that were heard from my mother and angry screams that were heard from my dad.
The more screams, the more the house vibrated.
I knew what was going to happen afterwards, as I predicted, my father barged inside my room, scowling around, covered in alcohol spill, filling my room with the smell of wine.
He glared at me, immediately throwing his bottle onto the floor, following it with a smash all over the place, he staggered towards me and gripped me by the hair without any warnings, my hair started stinging when he started dragging me from my bed and through the broken glass pieces that were scattered near the doorway.
My mum tried stopping my father but there was no luck, she was denied from a harmful kick that sent her to the rough, cracked floor.
A room that was located behind the dirty settee was all locked up, which made my father take his attention off me and onto the locked door, taking the opportunity, I slammed my foot into the back of his leg, breaking him down on the floor.
After kicking him in the back, I instantly grabbed my mum and made a run for it, my mum struggled to get up at first but had full energy when she finally stood up, we rushed outside the house, ignoring the angry groans that never stopped behind us.
Families peered at us through their kitchen windows, watching us escape through the neighbourhood with a look of relief, we ran around corners, getting further away from the homemade devil, eventually finding a shop market in a small town we lived near.
We casually went into a clothing store inside the town, figuring out what to change our clothes into so we could slightly justify our appearance.

"Darling, touch me and use your speed" My mum abruptly pointed out to me with a beautiful smile.
Listening to what she said, I moved my hand onto her shoulder, figuring out to use my powers when it suddenly clicked to me.
It was something I remembered using back in the past when I was only six years old.
I was sitting around a white table, drawing with the other rejected powered students, being surrounded by robotic guards.
A boy who was sitting beside me accidentally dropped his pencil as he was shaking with anxiety.
Before the pencil fell, everything around me slowed down to the point everything seemed frozen, the pencil just hovered there alongside everyone around and stayed still the entire time.
Then the more I stared, the more I started spotting Red Lightning bolts crackling around my entire body, but this distraction made the time speed up again and the student who dropped it was dragged off sight.
But that was my secret I kept so something didn't really sound right, I took my hand off my mum while staring right into her confused, secretly scared eyes.
"How do you know that?" I asked coldly, speaking for the first time in years.
"Y-You spoke?" Mum stuttered, baffled from what she was seeing, pointing her shaky finger at me.
"I spoke because I want to know how you knew I had that kind of power" I questioned.
"Right—I guess you would be on-guard" Mum sighed, rubbing between her eyes with her thumb and the index finger, taking a breather "The reason I know you have the powers of lightspeed is that I am one" Mum happily whispered.
"You were one? But powers only started coming since the year 2098" I responded.
"Baby, powers have been around for decades. They were just hidden well until 2098 came around. Some babies just started coming out already playing with their powers" My mum chuckled brightly.

"If that's true then why aren't you using yours?" I asked again.
"Well, my superspeed hasn't been used in years. The last time I checked I was on Purple Lightning, the highest of the bunch...now some kids are already at White Lightning stage" Mum explained.
Learning this new info, I placed my hand back on mum, closing my eyes and letting my speed powers run free.
Every high or low sound cancelled around me, the sounds of footsteps came to a halt, noticing that I opened my eyes again, I saw the sight of frozen people and spotted green lightning crackle all over my body, having no end.
From silence, it ended up with mum suddenly turning her head towards me as I stepped back in fighting mode.
Looking at mum, I saw a smile come across her face as she laughed loudly, watching her laugh, I rested my arms allowing her to have her laugh what might have been her first laugh in years as well.
"Gosh, I haven't been happy in ages. I guess you were really a great son under the quiet persona of yours" Mum lightly chuckled "Right! Let's hurry!" Mum added in a rush.
Mum's hand grabbed me on the wrist, showing her excitement as she dragged me through the clothing store, choosing what we were going to wear, I was all blacked out with a buttoned-up shirt, jeans and trainers.
Mum wore a long black dress with black leather boots and a cap to cover the face.
She glimpsed at me, looked me down and up, smiling straight afterwards, grabbing my hand to make a run for it as we turned an alley, speeding up time again.
"Right, handsome one. Let's get as far away as possible" She chirped.
And that's what we did, we found hotels after hotels, never staying there for too long to hide away from the government father was under.
We sometimes came across government people but we never were caught
In our spare times, mum would train my powers but couldn't train the other powers I had so I abandoned them, letting the absorb walk the dust.
We did fight off some government people now and then though, making us heal each other which affected our growing span, the more we healed, the more we age slower is what I was taught from mum.
But great days never last too long.
