Dan Esposito longed for a quiet day. A day when he wouldnt be forced to remember all that he had lost,all that he could have been if he had just been more careful. You might think that he is overreacting. After all,he is a patrol officer. How stressful can his everyday life be?

A lot actually. When he was on the streets,his mind was constantly occupied and for that reason he enjoyed active duty. But when he returned to the Department and he had to write all the necessary reports, that's when the nightmare began.

First of all,the noise of people passing by, yelling,asking him random questions distracted him and he couldn't work as fast as he would like. But that wasn't the worst of all. Hearing the detectives talk about their cases and how they catched criminals only rubbed salt in the wound and it was the most difficult part of his everyday life which he never got used to.

And today was worse than most days because a really interesting case had come their way. Lorenzo's long lost daughter Carolina was found by the local patrol wandering around injured. She was immediately taken to the hospital where after the necessary exams,they found out that she had been raped.However,she adamantly refused to reveal who did it.As a matter of fact,she didnt tell the detectives that questioned her anything. She said that she would only tell them what she knew only in the police station where it was relatively safe.

Dan hasn't heard about Lorenzo's family in years. It's true that he had dealings with him and his family but that was years ago,when he was the head of the biggest mafia gang in the city. But after his mysterious death everything changed. No one managed to figure out how he died and who killed him. All they knew was that he was found dead without any nerves in his body, except in his brain. The doctors were stunned when they saw it. They pressured the police to arrest the murder because they needed his vast medical knowledge.

When it became obvious that the culprit wasn't going to be found, Lorenzo's wife,Annita,seized the opportunity to escape his family. It was a known fact that Lorenzo abused both his wife and kids but she was never able to get away from her husband due to his family.So after his death,she took her daughter and son,3 and 5 years old respectively and ran. Soon rumours started spreading out that she was the one who murdered Lorenzo and was now hiding.

In the end,Annita's plan backfired. Lorenzo's relatives hunted her down across the world until eventually they killed her in Barcelona approximately 10 years ago.The kids were given in foster homes and years later they reunited but after a while it became too hard to keep track of them.

Until now, Lorenzo's daughter appeared on their doorstep. Dan found it odd then none of the other family members seem to be aware of the fact that she has returned.

At that moment he heard the door opening and lifted his head expecting to see Carolina. Today was the day she was discharged and was arranged to be brought directly here. But the sight that greeted him was a true surprise indeed.Lucifer was here. Dan recognised him immediately and Lucifer did too because he moved in his direction. This day was getting worse by the second.

-Lucifer? Is that really you?

-Dan! My old pal. How are you?

Dan really wanted to punch him right now.

-Nothing more than what you can see. So what brings you here after an eternity?

-Trust me to know how long an eternity is. I come straight from Ella's house actually.

-Ella? Haven't seen her in years. How is she?

-She has got herself a normal boring life. Husband,wife,that kind of stuff.

-We all have a normal,boring life nowadays Lucifer.I will ask you one last time. What do you want?

At that moment the door opened again and this time Carolina came inside accompanied by two police officers. When her eyes met Lucifer's she turned pale but after a moment she regained her composure and ran towards him but the two officers held her.

-Lucifer. I need to talk to you.

-Im sorry,do I know you?

-Im Carolina. Lorenzo's daughter.

That seemed to catch Lucifer's attention who started walking towards her but Dan could feel aggressiveness radiating from him so he standed between the two of them to prevent any unpleasant accidents. And he remembered that whenever Lucifer was involved in "unpleasant accidents" it usually meant a bunch of unexplained phenomena he would have a hard time explaining in his reports.

-I know you are angry and I can completely understand your anger but I need you to trust me. It was wrong of me to believe my brother. He is a mad psychopath and you need to get your little brother away from him.

-You worked with your brother in kidnapping David and now you come here and offer me alliances? Do you have a bet with your future dead brother which one of you will make me angry?

-You are right and there is nothing I can offer you to earn your forgiveness except the chance to end it. Please believe me.

-Hold on a minute,guys.Miss,you just admitted that you are an accomplice in kidnapping. We have to arrest you.

-I beg to differ from an officer. In truth,you can't arrest her because nobody has reported a crime and you have no evidence.

-Im sorry sir,who are you?

-Lucifer Morningstar. I used to work here about 20 years ago so I know your regulations and their weaknesses.If you please release her and we will be on our way.

But Dan wouldn't move out of his way when all other officers left awkwardly but stopped when they heard Dan's words towards Lucifer

-No but we can arrest you because I can testify that you have anger issues and that you will most likely harm or possibly kill whoever is behind the kidnapping.

-And what evidence do you have to support that,Daniel? Because the only thing you have is your opinion and your experience from our interactions which I doubt you will feel comfortable sharing. For various reasons.

Dan didn't say anything,he merely returned to his office, defeated. Lucifer grabbed Carolina's arm and literally dragged her out of the police station and pushed her in the car,in the co-driver's seat.

-I will guide you to the warehouse.

-If you try to trick me,girl,your punishment will be worse than your brother's.
