《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 38: Training Montage

They stood on top of a tall building and Jade told Samira “Just kill the Rank 1 and 2s that are patrolling the area. Kill them only if they’re isolated” she nodded and went down the building.
Samira went into the street, hiding behind corners to keep out of view from the undead. She saw group of undead that were isolated when she was on the top of the building. She was approaching them.
Samira followed stealthily behind the group, she had an axe with a green blade and a black handle, she wore a body suit made of purple and brown leather, on top of her body suit she wore a brown hoody, she wore a mask that covered her entire face and she had pockets in her hoody that held throwing knives.
The group she was stalking had mostly Rank 1 undead and 3 Rank 2s, the group numbered 23 and the Rank 2s were in the middle of the formation of the undead. Samira swiftly threw 5 throwing knives toward the Rank 2 undead. She was taught to always take out the high Ranks first.
The throwing knives became a red blur as they sailed through the air and hit the Rank 2s in their heads. Her IP said ‘You have killed 2 Rank 2 Hive Soldiers. You are now a Rank 2 High Human’. Samira armed her axe and charged at the undead who had just lost their leaders. It was a short massacre, the Rank 1s were nothing to her.
Jade watched Samira hunt Rank 1 and 2s, while with his spatial mapping earring Jade monitored the psychic energy of the Hive minds. The Hive minds were connected to the Rank 2s, when the Rank 2s died they knew.
The Hive mind knew she was there but couldn’t pinpoint her location exactly, the Hive mind in conjunction with the other Hive minds of its Rank had cooperated to stealthily corner Samira; she was surrounded without her knowing it.

The undead turned the tables and ambushed Samira with Rank 1s, she fought against them as hard as she could but their numbers were overwhelming her, Jade teleported to her location and teleported away with her.
Samira panted, the sudden ambush had terrified her ‘I was wrong to think of Rank 1s as just small fry, when they attack in large numbers they are almost impossible to deal with’ “Thanks” she said to Jade.
Jade responded “You’re welcome, when you’re ready to continue tell me” Samira looked at Jade, puzzled. Jade said “The best way increase all your stats while gaining en-code is to fight continuously without rest, fighting forces you to concentrate, hone the skills you’ve practiced and strain your body and mind. It’s the perfect training for you, now that you’re strong enough to get some meger en-code for yourself.
We’ll take breaks for you to train your energy control, eat and sleep, we’ll continue like this until you’re able to defeat a Rank 5 undead by yourself, then you can go touring or whatever you want”. Samira nodded; she preferred fighting to dull and monotonous training.
Their routine continued as Jade teleported her to another horde of undead where she could keep hunting.
3 weeks passed before Samira could activate her weapons. Her fighting capabilities multiplied as she could fully use the capabilities of her weapons.
Her throwing knives would pierce into Rank 3 undeads heads like bullets as she could use the red aura that the blades produced to enhance her throws. Her green axe shot out orange flying aura slashes and her body suit and hoody could be selectively harden by putting energy in the areas were hardening was required.
Jade had told her that having the highest stats was just as important as being able to use those stats properly and she was seeing it. ‘A Rank increase isn’t only always because of an increase in stats but also an increase in proficiency’ she noted.

A week later Samira could properly use her energy. Jade told her how aura was activated. It was done by compressing the generated aura as much as one could, the more compressed the aura was the more apparent the aura properties become.
Although Samira couldn't use the information Jade told her so that she could understand why active aura weapons consumed more energy to use.
He also thought her how to enhance her body with energy without overheating by either transferring the heat to a different location outside the body or by never fully enhancing the body for long, but it was fruitless.
Samira didn’t have as much energy as Jade so she never overheated; her temperature increased but it was never life threatening. A downside to this was, she couldn’t enhance her body perpetually, there was also a limit to the amount of time she could use her items’ energy capabilities especially when she activated the auras; they sucked up her energy quickly and required a lot more concentration to maintain.
Unlike Jade when she enhanced herself with energy her skin didn't change color and she only got a small but useful boost unlike Jade who entered a whole new dimension of power. This was also due to the difference between the amount of energy they had.
Jade wanted to modify her weapons so that they could activate the aura without her needing to focus, he could make energy batteries and have them power the weapons all Samira would have to do is charge the batteries and decide on what she wanted the weapon to do with the energy.
But Samira rejected the upgrade she wanted to be able to actively use the aura capabilities without breaking her concentration.
2 weeks of constant fighting passed and Samira was able to defeat a Rank 4 undead, although she needed to fight it when it was isolated. Jade congratulated her “You grow quick, although to be honest, it’s probably because you had my weapons and guid-“. “Shut up, it isn’t like I’m not going to pay you back” Samira interrupted Jade.
Jade had focused on training his soul while she trained, he had finally started seeing results toward the end of her training; finally, he could control the amount of time he spent in his soul realm.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
