《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 47: Freshest girl on the block

The girls went back to the hotel and Mira checked into one of the premium rooms for the price of 100 thousand en-codes for a 4 month stay, she put her bag in a corner of the bedroom and sat down on the bed. A knock came from the door and she answered it, it was room service.
A female attendant took information about various things like when she wanted to use the spar, when she wanted her meals and what meals she wanted, and other luxury related things. Mira noticed that the attendant was a Rank 3, she thought ‘The staff in the hotel and some people around are also Rank 3, this must be a high class area’.
When the attendant was done she went back to her bed wondering what to do to pass the time. She heard a ringing coming from a device that looked like a phone but had no screen.
She inspected it as it rang and pressed a button that had a phone icon on it, the call connected and she heard Funmi’s voice over the device she said “Hi, I just wanted to tell you some important stuff I forgot to say before you checked in. I’m the attacker of the team along with David, Theo is the balance breaker, ranger and strategist, while Rashid and Adura are defenders, and Adura is the leader if you haven’t gotten that already”
Mira responded “What is this device?” Funmi was silent for a while and laughed for some seconds before saying “I just remembered that I had the same reaction as you when I first saw them, would you believe that they are phones?” Mira responded with a shocked expression “What?”
Funmi laughed and said “I was also shocked when Deji told me about it”, Mira replied “Who is that?” Funmi said “Oh! I didn’t tell you his name. The guy who I told is a Rank 4 our age and is very boring, that’s Deji. He called it a radio phone”. Mira got over her shock and asked “What is a balance breaker?”

Funmi said “Oh! I almost forgot to explain. An attacker is as the name says the one who does the major attacking in the group, attackers mainly use attacking weapons and have lighter defense and higher speed.
A defender is the one who holds a shield or any defensive weapon and protects the team, they also have attack weapons, but their weapons are mostly short ones for taking out enemies that get close.
A balance breaker is someone who is equipped and trained to perform both attack and defense as the situation requires, in our case Theo is the battle strategist and a ranger.
Rangers are just attackers that use long range weapons, Theo uses javelins. He is our balance breaker because of his high durability and strength combination. A strategist is the one that you know, gives orders and stuff. Theo is good at that sort of stuff to and since he stays at the back of the formation when we’re attacking he can see well and make decisions.
What position do you fit?”
Mira thought for a while and said “I should be an attacker, since I use mostly attack weapons, but for now I think I would be a perfect balance breaker. You’ll understand when you see my gear tomorrow”.
Funmi replied “I look forward to it, we’ll be meeting at the SSC (Sanctuary Scout Center) by 10AM tomorrow don’t be late Adura hates it. Bye!”
Mira went to the gym to practice her moves all night until it was 9AM she went back to her room, took a bath and had her breakfast. She donned her armor on top of her body suit and mask and wore her hoody on top of it, the hoody had straps for holding her throwing knives.
She went towards the entrance of the hotel after calling Funmi, on her way the people she encountered looked at her in shock and amazement, why? She could only guess it was her armor, not her bubbling positivity, gained her those looks.

When she got to the entrance Funmi saw her first and was staring at her in amazement like the other people, she couldn’t recognize her under her mask and helmet, No, she couldn’t believe that Mira was the one under the armor even though she recognized her shape and her axes that hung at the back of her waist.
Mira waved toward Funmi which caused her to realize beyond any doubt that she was looking at Mira. Funmi’s armor consisted of a breast plate that covered her torso up to her neck, knee high shoes that ended with knee caps, thigh protectors, a gauntlet that reached her shoulders and an open face helmet.
The armor was made out of thick yellow leather covered with plates of bone painted black, put at the proper locations to allow defense but to never hinder motion. On her waist a long sword with a yellow sheath and a black hilt was hung beside a short sword with a yellow sheath and a silver hilt.
The armor looked practical but compared to Mira’s armor it looked like it was made by a struggling upstart. Mira’s armor made her look like a living armor, the armor was shiny like metal even though it was black and the plates were designed with more complexity and finesse, looking at them give the viewer visions of their weapon sliding across the plates without causing any harm as the plates were placed so that weapons that hit them would just slide along.
And unlike Funmi armor that had a few plates covering her vitals, Mira’s armor had plates everywhere, the plates were fine at the regions close to her joints and bigger at the regions away from them.
Finished with blue inscriptions and patterns whose purpose no one knew, Mira looked like true a futuristic soldier. Her axes were average length, a little longer than a short sword, the blue inscriptions and patterns were on the black axe and red inscriptions and patterns were on the white one. Combined with the armor it gave Mira a very mysterious and gorgeous look.
Funmi replied her wave with a “Who are you?” which stung Mira even though she was expecting such a reply. ‘I didn’t think that they would all have such terrible looking armor, does lacking an energy skill mean that their weapons look less dope?’
Mira said “Don’t be like that, I didn’t know you guys didn’t use the good stuff”. Funmi said “The jig is up! Did your ‘protector’ make that for you?” Mira nodded.
Funmi said “Then you have to tell us where he is or… I don’t know find a way to get me some good armor and clothes, because Mira, I will not live in a world where there are people with better clothes than me! I will never be caught unfresh!!”
Funmi’s reaction was drawing more attention which Mira was not looking for more of.
Mira said “Calm down, I’ll explain to you when we meet our team”. Funmi fumed for a while before calming down. She started looking at Mira’s armor in detail, asking her IP what Rank of materials were used.
Her eyes widened when she noticed the Rank, she said “Rank 5?! We have to tell Jola about your protector, I’m sure he needs to meet him” Mira replied “It’s alright, I’ll explain to you and the team when we meet”

Gray's Crucible
“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
