《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 58: Deji vs Mira

Deji changed out of his monster coat and wore the normal clothes people wore. He took a key from under his drawer, kept it in his pocket and left his office.
He jumped from building to building until he reached a hotel. He entered the reception and asked for Mira. The receptionist told him that she was in the gym and led him there.
He saw Mira, sweating; she was doing abdominal crunches while holding bar bells. He called out to her "Mira!" She turned and looked at him, he said "I need a bit of your time"
Mira dropped her weights and followed Deji. He took her out of the hotel to a warehouse district. They went to a warehouse and Deji handed her some keys and said "The undead corpses you got from the raid are in this warehouse. The rent is 200 En-codes per month".
Mira took the keys think 'I totally forgot about that'. Deji said "Would you mind a spar?" Mira looked puzzled and said "Sure"
Deji lead her to a deseted area of the sanctuary, the area had a lot of signs that said "Danger! High Rank Fighting ground". In the distance she could see glimpses of people fighting.
Deji said "This is the place, since we don't have weapons on us we'll do hand to hand combat" and he took a stance after throwing a stone in the air.
Mira took her stance and the moment the stone hit the groud, she swiftly approached Deji.
She threw a punched toward his head. He dodged the punch and threw one of his own. Their battle started light as they exchanged punches, trying to see the strengths and weaknesses of each other.
The battle intensified after Deji threw a high kick and the started jumping around.

After a few minutes Deji already knew Mira's habits and began to aim for them. But to his surprise, Mira's patterns changed and she blocked everyone of his setups perfectly.
After some more minutes of unsuccessful attacks from both sides. Deji relented; he didn't have the stamina.
He raised his arm and waved for her to stop and she did. Mira was in a twist, she didn't know what the purpose for his actions were.
Deji said "Thanks for the spar. I wanted to ask, why did you come to the sanctuary? Apart from selling the weapon, why did you choose to stay here?"
Mira answered without a thought "The sanctuary is a place for me to stop and rest before continuing my journey, I'm exploring Lagos. I thought it would be good if I lived here for a while and understood how society has changed before moving on. I'm also interested in the campaign"
Deji nodded and said "Thanks for sharing. I'll be leaving now" and went on his way, leaving Mira confused. Deji thought as he left 'I wonder how she'll react when she sees some of the other settlements'
Mira went back to her hotel and continued working out like nothing had happened. She hadn't improved in Rank but she felt she was near it for her strength and senses.
It took 3 weeks of continuous training before she finally had her breakthrough in her strength; her sense stat still hadn’t risen. Her En-code had finished at this point. Her body state was:
[Current State:
Strength: Intermediate (high)
Agility: Intermediate (high)
Stamina: Intermediate (intermediate)
Durability: Intermediate (intermediate)
Intelligence: Intermediate (intermediate)
Senses: Intermediate (high)
Energy: Low (high)]
She contacted Funmi who had come back during the final week of her training and said "I'm done with my training, would you like a spar?" Funmi agreed and they headed to the deserted area.

On their way Mira noticed that the air of the sanctuary was tense. She said “I don’t know if it just me but people seem tense. Do you know why?” Funmi answered "It's because of the campaign. This is the first campaign we've ever done"
Mira was surprised, when they had first spoken about the campaign they talked about it like they had a campaign every other week.
Funmi said "We've tried to do a campaign before but the members of the city were all against it. They didn't see the need to risk their lives and attack the undead that were peacefully staying in their territory
But we all learnt that the undead grow stronger by risking their lives and they gain lots of strength from it. Jola told us that if we stay docile the undead will grow too powerful for us, that we had to nip them in the bud.
So we’ve been focusing all our Rank 2 raids on the horde that we attacked last time in preparation for the campaign where we wipe them out”
Mira nodded and said “It’s a good idea, when monsters reach Rank 7 they gain the ability to create spawns, which would multiply the problem. I don’t know if undead create spawns at Rank 7 but I’m sure they will be a major problem at that Rank”
Funmi was surprised, she didn’t know this, and she asked “Did your master tell you that?” Mira said “Yes. I practiced with different hordes; a few of them were Rank 7 spawn hordes”. Funmi gulped as she imagined being the sanctuary being surrounded by Rank 7 hordes.

Three Hundred Years After The End Of The World
Three hundred years after the end of the world as humanity knew it, the gears of an old plan slowly begin to move again, as a group of self-imposed reincarnators, along with their equally unlikely companions, gather once again to set things right... but does the world they plan to restore need, or even want, their help? Follow the misadventures of an eclectic bunch of genius misfits as they attempt to assemble and fix the world they accidentally devastated in the past. ~~~ Author's note: This is actually the first volume of a novel I wrote nearly a decade ago for the VNDB discussion boards, taking inspiration from the random off-topic ramblings that characterized the golden age of the community. After sevear years and countless rewrites, it is pretty much unrecognizable, but while it is not fit for professional publishing (due to the fact that several fragments and older versions are still out there on various forums and blogs), I decided it is a waste to just let it sit idly on my hard drive forever. As such, I decided to share it somewhere where people could maybe appreciate it, so here it is.

Kondor
When "Integration" came everybody thought that it was just a game, nobody could've imagined the changes that it will bring. It is the journey of William who is trying to survive and build his own kingdom in a suspicious virtual world. It is a story with world-building, cultivation, politics, mythology and alike there will be action but not as the main focus. Main characters will not have cheat abilities, they will get perks and bonuses because of participating in events or lucky encounters but the same goes for their enemies. English is not my first, second, and even third language so please have mercy.

Tabula Rasa : An Unbound Adventure
It starts as many things do: a clean slate, an empty page. What once was set in stone and wholly writ is gone, and all that's left is the vague notion of absence, a fullness lacking. The feeling of being tetherless, pathless, without direction or responsibility is something many would find terrifying. Others might find it freeing - an opportunity to strike out on new adventures and explore the unknown.Either way, first they have to figure out where they are and how they leave. ====== My first novel on this platform! An avid GameLit/LitRPG fan, I decided to start writing this when I seemed to exhaust all of my options for well reviewed content on the site! Inspiration for the world/general feeling is a mix of Azarinth Healer, Abyssal Road Trip, Winterborn, and the Power of Ten series, with a strong reliance on 3.5 and PF1 frameworks as a scaffold for the world. I see Arc 1 as a Robinson Crusoe style coming to terms scenario, lots of exploration of the System, the MC's options, the island and encounters with the denizens and visitors of the Timeless Isle, with a non-zero amount of introspection around their long term goals. I'll publish as frequently as I'm able but don't have a regular cadence planned at the moment.
