Jola escorted the three Overcomers to the half demolished building that the Rank 5s were in as Anita came to the podium to announce the plan for the return.

When they got to the room where the Rank 5s were in the Rank 5s stood up and congratulated the Overcomers and Funmi received congratulations for becoming a Rank 5. They all sat down and Jola asked “Who got the 1st place?” Funmi raised her hand her IP showed her contribution screen and it was:

Mira relayed what her IP told her after which the Rank 5s applauded her, they hadn’t experienced the Magicians abilities but they knew that killing them had tilted the battle completely into their favor.

There were other contributions like assisting in the killing of a Genius and killing Prodigies but they were less important. When Kore heard that Deji was fourth place he started fuming; he was the 10th place.

The lady that killed the Endpoints, her name was Osaz; she was the ranger of the free lance team, Legion. She relayed what her contribution was:

Osaz told them about what the Endpoints looked like and what her IP told her concerning them being suicide bombers. The Rank 5s appreciated her for her prudence, had she taken the race lightly, the war could have tilted back into the favor of the undead.

This was the sanctuary’s first time killing a Hive creature, or Nemesis creature; they learnt that the womb could make soldiers, that the undead had a way to create powerful soldiers without killing anyone. The meeting ended with a promise of a future meeting, for now they needed to return.

Funmi returned to her group but not without Jola, Samad and Mistura sending her invitations to work with them, which she answered with an “I’ll think about it”. When she went to Paragon’s location, except for Theo and Mira, they all looked at her with burning jealousy, which made Funmi feel awesome.

She explained to them about the Overcomer title and Mira thought ‘Yet another thing that she got that Jade didn’t have. First the Karma is a bitch skill and now Magic. There are many ways to get stronger, I just have to put in the effort’ as she anticipated the solo jobs she would do, she decide to delay her tour of Lagos to learn Magic and also because she decided that she would not leave the sanctuary until she achieved something that she could be proud of.

Mira congratulated Funmi and the group had a fun time with Funmi retelling her experiences while exaggerating her contributions. The army rested for an hour and marched back toward the sanctuary while some people stayed to keep watch and survey the new territory.

When the army returned they were greeted with cheers from the citizens. The bodies of the undead were distributed equally and since there wasn’t enough corpses for one Rank 3 to get one corpse the corpses were split, in principle though, the Rank 3s had no need for the corpses so they were sold back to Jola at a high price of 20,000 en-codes per corpse as the undead were unique.

The city went back to its usual state. Jola’s company researchers found some things about the Nemesis race. The black parts of their exoskeleton were extremely resistant to any type of energy flow, whether pure or converted, while the red parts of their body were extremely conductive to any energy.

Energy conductive materials had a threshold of pure energy that if exceeded would cause the object to harden as the pure energy would begin to improve the molecular bonds of the material which would make them less conductive to energy. The red parts had a very high energy threshold and were therefore very conductive.

They also discovered a physiological difference between the Magicians and the Genius’s. The Magicians had crystals in their head that contained concentrated pure energy, the crystal were called energy crystals. They could absorb energy if they were fed and could store them without any leakage.
