《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 128: Daisuke

Jade tiptoed toward the Rank 6 soul on his soul map for 1 minute before he saw the creature, it was a Superior High Human. The person was male, Japanese, black hair and eyes, about 5 foot 6 inches tall, wearing a black cloak with a high collar. Five katana sheathes were strapped horizontal on his back, from his lower chest down to his waist, only 2 of them had katanas in them, the corpse of a bird type monster was at his feet.
The man was holding the hilt of a katana in his hand but there was no blade, he threw it away and started walking toward Jade. Jade looked behind himself wondering what the man was walking to but he saw nothing of value. He turned to look back at the man again and the man was holding the hilt of one of his sheathed katanas.
Jade thought ‘There are no monsters behind me. Does he want to cut a tree?’ Jade was looking at him from behind a tree and was also outside the man’s energy zone so he moved to another tree silently.
The man stopped after Jade moved. Jade watched in anticipation of what the man was going to do but became worried after he saw what the man did next. The man turned toward where Jade was but only stopped when he was facing 90 degrees from Jade’s position. Jade was relieved when the man stopped turning.
The man turned only his head and looked directly at Jade, eye to eye, which turned Jade’s relief to shock. Jade thought ‘No! You can’t see me! I’m outside of your energy zone. Why is the world so focused on surprising me?!’
The man tightened his grip on his katana, his right hand holding the hilt that was positioned to his right, and he pulled the blade from its sheathe and disappeared in a flash of light.

When he reappeared his katana was about 30 centimeters above the crouching Jade’s head, Jade had equipped Susano by teleporting it onto his body from his portal storage. The man had performed a slash while holding the sword like a knife in the stabbing position. The katana didn’t touch Jade’s armor because the Energy Control spell from the helmet had dispersed the force in the man’s slash.
Jade undid the transparency spell and changed his race to Rank 6 High Human. The man didn’t take the gesture well as he unsheathed his second katana and rested one on his shoulder and the other pointed toward Jade.
The man bent his knees a little and before Jade could say anything the man disappeared in a flash of light and reappeared some meters in front of Jade with both his swords pointing toward Jade.
A beam of light hit Jade’s armor but couldn’t go through. The beam of light shot out from between the man’s swords and was dispersed only a little by the Energy Control spell but was fully blocked by Susano. Jade thought after the attack ‘His moves are fast, fast enough that I can only follow them with my eyes but the hits are light’
Jade said in Japanese, which he learnt from anime and perfected after in the 2 days before coming with his evolved mind, “Calm down I’m not a monster”.
The man stood up, looking at Jade with doubt and the blade of one of his katanas, the one he used first, shattered like glass. The man thought ‘Shit!’ Jade looked at the broken pieces of the blade and thought ‘Oh so his swords break if he uses them with his skill. That’s a really expensive way to fight’.
Jade said before the man could run away “I can sell you a tougher katana”, opened a portal and threw a katana with a green crystal blade and a black hilt from it to the ground in front of the man.

Jade said “I’m Jade” and teleported his helmet away. The man’s eyes widened when he saw Jade’s face. He blurted “You’re the terrorist!” Jade wagged his index finger and said “I prefer to be called serial killer, but to each his own I guess”.
The man was shocked and said “How did you get here?” then he remembered the portal and said “You teleported!” Jade smiled, gave a thumbs up and said “Correct”.
The man pondered in surprise for a while and said “Is that how you stole people? You teleported them away that’s why many people said that the people seemed to just disappear”
Jade smiled, gave a thumbs up and said “Correct” again. The man was shocked for a while then he asked “What are you doing here?” Jade said “I’m looking for monsters to hunt. Getting en-code and souls”
The man asked “Why did you kill and torture those people?” Jade replied “They hurt me and people like me so I just replicated what they did to me to them”. The man’s expession softened a bit and he asked “Your family was tortured and killed in front of you?”
Jade smiled sadly and said “Correct”. There was silence for a while and the man said “I’m sorry for asking about something that’s so personal. The news didn’t say why you did it, only your name and face was revealed before the apocalypse started in some places. My name is Daisuke, nice to meet you”.
Jade replied “Nice to meet you too. The martial art you used, what’s that about?” Daisuke answered “It’s Light Kendo, I invented it, it’s very fast but the hits aren’t so heavy and the most durable katana breaks after some uses” as he picked up the sword Jade threw toward him.
Jade nodded and said “That’s very interesting. Can you show it to me again? Without trying to kill me this time. I can make a weapon that suits your kendo if I understand what happens to the sword when you use it”
Daisuke answered “Sure, but I need at least 3 swords to fully express it”. Jade nodded and brought out 2 more identical katanas from his portal storage and threw them toward Daisuke.

The Exodus Project
This is the original version of Origin before I rewrote it. It's much more simpler, some names and personalities are a little different. THere's nowhere near as much back story or character development/interaction. But the story is essentially at the end of book one. I wrote this 15 odd years ago, and with a bit of polish it doesn't look too bad. The story like Origin is about a group of college students who find a ship that is the last remnant of an ancient human space faring civilisation, they fix her up and go back into space. Along they way they'll meet alot of aliens, religious fundamentalists and conmen.
