After some minutes of travel, Charlotte removed her hiding spell when they arrived in front a humongous tangle of long smooth purple tentacles of various sizes inside a pond of green fluid that emitted a green gas that covered the area. Jake protected the group from the gas that spread even beyond the range of the monsters’ energy zones by making a ball of black aura around them.

Kenny said “These monsters have a low amount of energy but they’re very tough. They are nigh immune to physical attacks and their tentacles hit hard and fast. But they can’t evade well since they’re not really made for land travel.

It’s hard to find their vital spots since they always pile up like this making it hard to distinguish where one monster starts and where the others end. Their basic structure is just a ball with a mouth and lots of tentacles protruding from its surface; the ball is their one vital spot.

The green liquid and gas is acid. This is a Rank 7 horde with a Level 3 Authority King, this acid toughens the bodies of the monsters the longer they stay in it and they can soak and squirt this acid at intruders. We plan to subdue this monster horde so it would be helpful if you killed as few Rank 6s as possible and just kill the King. They’re called Nightmare Octopuses. Do note that if you enter the territory of the King it will be alerted”

Mira nodded and she activated her Intent sense and High Mind skill with her energy zone just outlining her body. She was trying to find the direction of the King of the horde by sensing the monster’s protective intent but it was pointless. The only protective intent was focused on each monster’s vital part and no where else.

Mira asked “Don’t these monsters protect their King?” Kenny smiled and said “That’s why we want to keep them, they’re all selfish cowards. They’ll never try to protect their King with their lives. Children are different from spawns, I guess the monsters would have to deal with parenting issues now”.

Mira chuckled and said “I guess I’ll have to go and see then”. Her skin turned crystalline as she merged her body with her Diamonds. She used a lot of energy which caused the diamonds to be very bright. This caused her figure to glow. It was still morning so she didn’t really stand out but she didn’t care to hide.

Kenny, Charlotte and Jake watched her transformation in amazement as they realized that she didn’t use all her cards to beat Samuel. They were sure now, the Rank 7 Nightmare Octopus was a goner.

Mira looked at Charlotte’s amazed expression and thought ‘Is this so amazing or has she changed. She usually doesn’t show any reaction to anything… Whatever’ Kenny said “The Octopuses can’t see so you’re good”. Mira replied “I’m not trying to hide” and thought ‘Stars shouldn’t hide’.

Mira crouched and positioned herself, what she was about to do was something she never tried since her brain wasn’t fast enough to control it. The only reason she was doing it was because she needed to travel fast while keeping her guard up.

“BOOM!!!”

The Diamonds on the soles of her feet and hips released their energy for a brief moment causing a massive air explosion as Mira used Nova and she disappeared from her position. Only Jake and Charlotte could follow her movements, Kenny had to look around to find her again.

She appeared within the territory of the Octopuses some meters away from the mess of tangled tentacles the children of the King formed flying forward. The acid of the monsters’ territory had nothing on her Diamond, Mira didn’t even feel a tingle. Her IP was now in range to give her information on the monsters’ Ranks. They were all Night Octopuses which meant that there were no spawns.

Mira spotted the Rank 7 monster and a bright diamond javelin grew from her left shoulder, positioned itself and shot toward the Rank 7 monster as Mira used Shooting star. The monster was still far away but it wiped its tentacles towards the Shooting star javelin when it got within range.

The javelin passed through the tentacle, landed inside the center of the Rank 7 monster, materialized and exploded. Mira’s IP said ‘You have killed a Rank 7 Nightmare Octopus’.

Mira repositioned herself in the air, she was still flying forward and shot back outside of the dead monsters territory. Mira slammed on the ground and walked back to the group as she absorbed her Diamond javelin back. The javelin she used to kill the Rank 7 Nightmare Octopus flew back to her thinner than before and turned back to energy.

Mira said “Targeting something that is weak to my skills is super easy”. Kenny nodded and said “I’m glad you’re not conceited. So did you get your job?” Mira focused back on her IP and it said ‘Congratulations on reaching Rank 7 you can now choose between the Noble and the Hunter job’.

Mira thought ‘Oh I must have gotten Noble because I protected my platoon’. Mira was silent for a while before asking her IP ‘How much en-code did I get for the kill?’ Her IP said ‘You got 36,041,029 en-codes’.

Mira smiled, she had never gotten such an absurd amount of en-code, she said ‘Put 1 million in my durability stat and instantly increase the stat’. Her IP warned ‘Completing this quest will cause the maximum en-code of the Durability stat increased 10 fold, are you certain of this choice?’ Mira said ‘Yes’. Her IP said ‘Done’

Mira was amused when she saw her stats and she thought ‘Now that I’m getting millions without trying my maximum en-code is nothing to me anymore’

Mira told her IP ‘I want the Hunter job’. She didn’t know much about the Noble job but she wouldn’t miss her chance at getting the Hunter job that gave the event limited Soul Map privilege. She had not use for it now but when she evolved it would be helpful to find the territories of monsters since high ranking monsters were scarce. And the major Rank increase of all stats was irresistible.

Hunter’s Perception: shows the user the information of all the creatures within a 70 mile radius. It gives the user information about the creatures such as the Rank, traits, kill en-code, job and the stats of the creatures under the condition that the creatures are not more than 5 Ranks above the user or has a information hiding privilege activated and is the same or higher in Rank than the user.

If the previous conditions aren’t met the user will either get false or partial information. The distance it can scan increase by 10 miles for every Rank increase above Rank 7 and information detail also increases as the user increases Rank.

Hunter’s Camouflage: gives the user the ability to falsify its information from the IP of creatures around it and a user of a inspection privilege that is not more than 3 Ranks above it. The Rank limit reduces by 1 Rank for every Rank increase above Rank 7]

Mira said ‘I choose Hunter’s Camouflage’. She didn’t care for Hunter’s Perception since she would get Soul Map, which was way better than Hunter’s Perception, for the remaining 3 months of the WW3 event.
